In the haze of the Independent Spirit Awards and the oh-so-prestigious Oscars, it’s nice to know that the Razzies are around to keep Hollywood’s gigantic ego in check.

On the eve of the Academy Awards, the 30th Annual Golden Raspberries were handed out in Los Angeles. The Razzies have spent the past three decades honouring the very worst in cinema, and this year’s winners easily earn such a distinction.

Michael Bay‘s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took home the major gongs, including Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Turning a potential PR disaster into a charming display of self-deprecating humour, Sandra Bullock turned up to the ceremony to accept the award for Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve. She became the first actor to accept a Razzie since Halle Berry in 2005 (for Catwoman).

Bullock is the favourite to win Best Actress at the Academy Awards tomorrow night for her performance in The Blind Side. If she does, she will be the first actress to win both a Razzie and an Oscar on the same weekend.

The Jonas Brothers were jointly named Worst Actor for their work in their self-titled 3D concert film. Sienna Miller won Worst Supporting Actress for GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra, while Billy Ray Cyrus picked up Worst Supporting Actor for Hannah Montana: The Movie. Land of the Lost was named Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel – perhaps unfairly.

Razzies were also handed out to the worst film and performances of the past decade. John Travolta’s allegorical ode to scientology Battlefield Earth was named Worst Film of the Decade, while Eddie Murphy and Paris Hilton were named Worst Actor and Actress of the Decade.

Discuss: Sure, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was bad. But was it The Ugly Truth bad? Still can’t believe that flick missed out on a nomination. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this year’s “winners?
