When second-graders Bryce and Juli first meet, Juli knows it’s love. Bryce isn’t so sure. In the days and years ahead, Bryce (Callan McAuliffe) does all he can to keep his wannabe girlfriend at arm’s length – and the smart, independent-minded Juli (Madeline Carroll) continues to give him the benefit of the doubt. This tender coming-of-age romantic comedy from director Rob Reiner takes the pair from grade school to junior high, through triumph and disaster, family drama and first love, as they make discoveries that will define who they are – and who they are to each other.

  • This is a charming, unpretentious and engaging movie. I liked the way it repeated scenes showing from the perspective of both the boy and girl. There are lots of positive messages in this film and it is highly recommended - surprisingly so as I was not expecting anything great from it.

  • Enjoyed by the whole family.

  • This is a very infectious movie - directed by Rob Reiner (Stand by Me.) The cast is excellent - featuring Madeline Carrol as Juli and Australian teenager Callan McAuliffe who has no difficulty with an educated American accent - compare this to his accent in the special feature! He had a role in Baz Luurman's Great Gatsby too so one of our most successful young actors

  • Cute movie with a nice little story. Anyone can watch this one.

  • Innocent, honest and charming. It's surprising how much I enjoyed this movie and I'm a thirty year old man. The acting is excellent especially from a vastly child cast and the storyline is subtle and understated.
