Coraline (Dakota Fanning) walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life - only much better. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home - and save her family.

Not strictly a kids movie, but my girlfriend's 8yr old sister loved it. It's different and keeps you fascinated the entire time, I can't wait to see it again!

The PG rating is perhaps a little low. Don't be fooled by it being an animated film. My 11 yr old daughter saw this at the cinema and was seriously scared by it. Harry Potter has been no issue for her but this movie was too much. The themes in it need a lot of adult guidance and perhaps are more suited to teenagers and not to pre-teens.
