Set in the very near future, a time when humankind can no longer procreate, this movie is a stunning and at times shocking reminder to watch what we do with this world in which we live. Destined to die out, society has crumbled, countries are awash with civil unrest, and the last human born has just been killed at the age of eighteen sending shockwaves throughout the world. But in a world of doom, a new hope arises as a young woman entrusted to the care of Theo and Gillian, Clive Owen and Julianne Moore, has to be protected and given passage to where she and her baby, the first to be born on earth in nearly twenty years, can be safe. This is a visually stunning film set in London in the year 2027. The cinematography and direction are superb - check out the long single shot scenes and wonder how they did them without computer generated images! Well worth watching and ultimately a rewarding experience!

This is a stunning film, one of the best made in the last couple of years. I was particularly impressed by the way the filmmakers were able to invite empathy with each of the characters, despite the limited screen time given to individuals. It's a harrowing story which deals with many themes that we are confronted with in contemporary culture without being overly didactic.

Nice thought and theory to base a film on, but dreadfully execeuted. Clive Owen was well cast in this role because it required no acting and woeful character development. Why does he keep getting acting jobs? Michael Caine overacts and the always excellent Julianne Moore is simply not given enough screentime to do any decent acting. All in all, very boring film which tries to be intelligent but only succeeds in promoting sleep. Don't bother with Stilnox, just watch the film.
