I liked it more the first time I saw it. There seems to be an intentional effort to 'PG-rate' this movie and for that reason I didnt enjoy the rewatch as much. The Hobbit was probably a 'lighter' story in general and probably they tried to honor that portense, Even so I found the Goblin King and the Trolls too slapstick and would have preferred their vile natures on display without comicry. But thats personal, its been 25 years since I read the book and the movie seemed to honor the child-story like feel.

Can I just say that Melissa George was never in Home and Away and the Australian media should stop insinuating that that's all she can do.... after all, croissants and walking the fog in New York is a better way for her to spend her time. LEAVE MELISSA ALONE! Stop being so small time Straya! Ah the movie - yes, I liked it.

It was ok, I like Matthew Fox playing a total nut job - I thought he did a good job of it.

It was better the first time I saw it. Still good, just not amazing

There is a fair amount of 'average' here. I would like to know if this would be classed as a 'c grade' film or its just 'b grade'.
Not as bad as Plaguers though. It has maybe 1 or 2 ok scenes, the rest of the movie is pretty bad. the girls are pretty... maybe that will help?
I thought this was surprisingly good. The composition and cinematics were very well put together and Karl Urban actually filled the role very, very well. 4.5/5. Some of the sets and set pieces were ever so slightly cheapish... but that is the only negative. Otherwise very very good.

I struggled to finish this. Zoe Saldana seems to be comfortable playing roles opposite Bradley Cooper and thats nice. Why Jeremy Irons has to try on accents all the time Im not sure. He was much better 30 off years ago in 'The Mission' with De Niro... back then he was raw and pure and immensely and immesurably better than how he is now. He's a great actor but his work of late (And as he has aged) had not had the quality of wine. 2/5
Yeah not bad, but just not that good. The editing was a bit rough and a little bit uninspired. Its a 2.5 / 5 that Im going to rate as 2/5
This was more than a little rough around the edges and surprisingly long-winded. The story was more 'hey lets actually do the movie about the guys who want to make the move about a movie' - kinda sounds like its a unique idea but its really not that great at all in the end. Olga is on for 2 minutes and thats a very big shame. 2/5
This was *ok*. The bike action was *ok*, the performances were *ok*, jamie chungs accent was *ok*, the story was good. Not Joseph Gordon-Levitts best role. 3/5

It was a bit weird casting Tom Hanks against Ian McKellam against Audrey Tattou, they really all play somewhat differently both in tone and approach. It wasnt a bad movie at all (and Paul Bettany was a really good psycho (I shudder at the masochism)) but it wasnt a great because the 3 main actors were all of pretty much completely different temperature. For that reason 3.5/5. if not for the wacky casting it would have been 4.5/5

Not bad, but it could really have done with some classic exposition. The story was good, but it needed fleshing out - its really kinda that simple. Alot could have been done with just 20 minutes more to make this a great film. 3/5

This is a pretty c**p movie. I like Nicole Kidman but she is horrendous here. One of her worst efforts ever. I really like Nicolas Cage but this is just a horrible movie. The scenes are repetitive and bad. 1/5 which puts it on the same shelf as 'Plaguers' - thats really bad.
(Don't bother!) - review by John
I think this is solid cinema. I am not hugely excited about it, but I think its solid (appropriately well made) cinema. Noomi Rapace does the job and so does MIchael Nyqvist. The Daniel Craig effort was more glamourous but these movies tell the story. 3.5/5

I enjoyed this, I thought it was fun and funny allround. ONly the preachy, 'tell the world' school speech at the end I found too sentimental, but thats the only criticism.
(Not to be missed!) - review by John
Its not bad, the animation was good but it did feel a bit like a computer game extended cutscene. the story of Resident Evil is a bit ridiculous and this is no exception. Its ok overall.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I particularly liked Ray Liotta in this . His acting I thought was particularly good. His emotional pitch was perfect. Not sure what the reviewer 4 places down meant by 'the acting is bad', but like I say in this movie - in my opinion - it was particularly good. 4/5
(Excellent) - review by John
Jonah Hill entertains. Not the greatest ever but some funny stuff. 3/5
(Worth watching) - review by John
Yeah this franchise has gone pear-shaped and its all a question of whether you mind that the plot is pretty much scrambled eggs! Some of the zombies carry guns and some of them wrapped their victims in alien-like (sigorney weaver aliens) coccoons. Its a mess all round and anyone and everyone that was popular in a previous movie is now back as a clone.... absurdly silly, but do you care? Im not sure whether I do - 2/5
Yep I thought Sienna Miller was pretty good. I have no idea how accurate the movie is, but she was great. I'm not able to be objective about Guy Pierve's performance - though he didnt had some moments of brilliance in the least. Only let down was the disjointed story - some events seemed episodic and unrelated... would have been 4/5 but 3.5/5 cos of the story.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I really liked this, I thought there were few negatives. Perhaps you have to have a taste for political corruption but the story was solid.
(Excellent) - review by John
It is ordinary but it wasnt a bad movie. Its a low budget hollywood movie and there are much much worse. Its watchable.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I didnt mind this one. Pretty silly but I liked it. I wish the piranha weren't so rubbery but thats about the only real complaint.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I really hated this. At a reality level I feel sorry for the poms - what a horrible time they have had with the IRA. But Thatcher just seems like a complete tool in this movie. The movie itself is also pretty horrible. Sorry I really dont want to watch a geriatric fuddle around for 120 mins... and I dont hate old people... its how this was done - it was just awful. Sorry 1/5
(Don't bother!) - review by John
Yeah I enjoyed this quite a bit. I dont know why it got such bad reviews - the visuals are pretty coherent. Kate Beckinsale is a better good badASS (underworld) than a bad badASS (Total Recall). And holy cow Jessica Biel is a handsome woman. Justin Timberlake dont mess that up.
(Excellent) - review by John
John Cusack has never been an A class actor but he is watchable. He's watchable here. 3/5
(Worth watching) - review by John
With respect to our New Zealand brothers and sisters - this wasn't bad. It lacked production values and the sets were way too theatrish. The 'acting' was ok but overall it was just a bit slow, not bad though
(Worth watching) - review by John
Yeah this movie is pretty watchable years later and after maybe seeing it 2 times since release (4th time this time). Jodie might not be spectacular but shes watchable enough.
(Excellent) - review by John
It's warming up... just not quite there yet, disc 3 is better.

They do justice to Darth Maul.... so it's good, 3.5/5

Excellent! Who'd have thought an Asajj Ventriss storyline would be so good. Her story is compelling.
(Excellent) - review by John
Argh, this one was so-so. It's entertaining but its not great.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I liked it. I think the first disc in every season is just a warm-up with some of the 'ok' stories. I expect disc 2 and 3 to ramp up.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I liked this, but it wasnt that great. Amber Heard is really, really, really ridiculously good looking.... the story is ok, I havent read the book so i dont know how it compares. 3/5
(Worth watching) - review by John
This is ok. don’t expect too much. Has an occasional interesting scene, but yeah the pace is a bit stilted. To give it 1/5 would class it in the same grade as 'Plaguers' and that’s not really right (look Plaguers up here on Quickflix and read the reviews)
I want to rate this one higher, but the truth is I didnt even finish it. It had potential, but sometimes lack of production values can make a straight forward ok movie really hard to watch... this one is like that: zero production values, that said, the main characters have appeal.
whoa! It wasnt THAT bad. I mean it wasn't superb, but I didnt think it was really that bad - 2.5/5 from me. Im not just giving it that to be different. At the same time, I think 1/2 star is because Sara Foster is nice to look at... so argh idk. I thought it was ok. (and Sara Foster is nice to look at :p)
I did quite like this one. The animated animals tend to swing the feel of the movie into 'sub-teen' territory at times, but I didnt see it as a big negative. I didnt see anything as a big negative for this one: effects were ok (not bad), acting was ok, the feel of the movie was ok. Jet Li is about as heavy as anything gets (and he's not really that heavy). Getting a taste of Chinese Amitaba Buddhism was actually kind of pretty good - I have not seen so many Chinese Buddhist (explicit) tales on the big screen (not since Monkey on the small screen or Forbidden Kingdom of late) and while this one was light-weight I thought it worked. 3.5/5 from me.
(Excellent) - review by John
Yep a sold watch. Half decent stript aswell considering its American Pie. Quite satisfying (again considering its American Pie)
(Excellent) - review by John
In terms of skills, I didnt need to be convinced of what professional soldiers do or are capable of. Even if Andy McNabs books are even half true professional soldiers like these guys are in a different zone. So, if you didnt know that then this movie gives you a glimpse. The sentiment and 'acting' are solid and I think no real issue. The story is just ok, but thats not bad. So.... i dont know, it was an ok watch, it all depends if you're interested. 3/4
(Worth watching) - review by John
It's not bad. Kristen Kreuk is a surprise (and nice to watch). im not sure she was quite right for the part though. Also the lead guy was pretty good but also im not sure was quite right cast. I never read thsi book so you'll have to correct me if Im wrong but the movie took a 'family bent' as opposed to a completely 'moral free' take on the drug experience. Here, the real theme was the power of the group of friends and love over adversity (and that adversity was addiction). Again I never read the book, so I dont know what welsh intended. Overall 3/5
(Worth watching) - review by John
I'd agree that overall this is a positive surprise movie. The 2 girls were really good. I think the directing yeah, was a bit odd... the first scene was weirdly porn-ish and kind of out of place... Im still not sure what he was trying to do there (not the actor, the director). The story and script were only ok, but overall still good.
(Excellent) - review by John
I thought the first was better because it was more original. This one didnt really add anything but it wasnt bad. Some parts of it descended (excuse the pun) to B grade, but not toooo much, just some parts. There are better movies, but get this one if you are really out of options.
Watched it at the cinema and watched it again on DVD. It was no less entertaining the second time around and thats always a good thing. When I was 11 I think I watech Return of the Jedi 9 times, twice at the cinema and 7 times on VHS... can this compare to that... idk, but then again Im no longer 11... so... 5/5
(Not to be missed!) - review by John
This was ok, not terrible, not great. Some eye-candy here and there, a coupla funny lines, a coupla ok performances. One thing: I cant help but think that Simon Baker is one of the only Aussies to have authentic-sounding american accents. So few of them really get it right... imo including Toni Collette, but thats an aside. 2/5
Ah I really loved this one. But then I love anything about insanity in business and especially the brinkmanship of equities and paper product trading... its all in the maths :p. the character expositions in the first 45 mins are really great.
(Not to be missed!) - review by John
Take out anything that was designed for 'young adults' and simply make a movie and id probably like it more. that said the character development was commendable and not one-dimensional and that alone is worth 3/5. I dont really like the story, I thought the truman show was simply better in every other respect.
(Worth watching) - review by John
I’m mixed about this movie. The fighting is - I think - very good, but the acting lacks any depth at all. I think that’s because the script is thin as the actors just have nothing to work with. Good show but I want more than bang bang.
I liked it, Keiras russian accent was good but not great (and to be honest Im not sure she had the right accent but whatever it was it worked 87%). Fassbender has depth! Viggo was really good as Freud, just excellent. Im not a foloower of pyscho analysis, so I dont know the historical accuracy of the content. I thought it was a pretty well told story though. Worth a look. Keira getting spanked is kind of both disturbing and curious at the same time - which I guess is the point, so yeah, it has legs then
(Excellent) - review by John
I didn’t mind it, but I watch videos while I’m working out after work during the week. Their function is simply to be pixels on a screen that I have never seen in that combination before... This particular combination of pixels I indeed have never seen before in that sequence.... so... yeah. Different! But I admit Idris Alba was almost bad and that’s unusual. And the hottie wasn’t hot enough... where's Olga when you need her?
(Worth watching) - review by John
I really liked it. Gina Carano filled the role pretty well, only her voice work had some odd moments, but imitation can save the most average of actors.... and even so she's better than average - she’s really pretty good. I didn’t know she’s a muay thay champ or something l - even better! I liked this overall, not wasted time.
(Excellent) - review by John
Funny and I liked it. Jonah Hill and C. Tatum entertained as I wanted them to.
(Excellent) - review by John
Yep Jodie Foster dishes it out. It has a coupla bad moments (her monologues seem without depth) but overall all Jodie Foster is really good. Surprised.
(Excellent) - review by John
I have to agree this was surprisingly good. I never good bored, I had an enjoyable 2 hrs! way better than transformers 3 etc. Taylor Kitsch is great, rihanna is great and the action is fun. 5/5
(Not to be missed!) - review by John
Strategically placing enough 'good elements' and counterpoints into the mix, makes this movie a poor film that you won't hate.... which is weird. It's glib, it's trite, Sam Worthington's accent is jarring, the story is bad, the mythology is completely all over the place but the effects, the editing, the performances (from a bad script) from the supporting cast are great and no one 'bad element' goes on for long enough so you end up not contemplating how bad one thing or another might be about the film. In reality it’s a mixed bag, I didn't like the movie and it’s got just enough to not be disliked... but it is a bit uninspired.

Really great, 1.5 years on I accidentally thought i hadnt seen this before, but I had. It was excellent rewatch value.... a good rewatch is usually a good movie.
(Excellent) - review by John
This was 'ok'. I'm not sure it scrape's through as a superhero movie because the guys with powers aren't really heroic in the iconic sense and dont actually help uphold law etc. I couldn't really get past the reality that they were simply hanging from hidden wires though.... besides that it was 'ok'
(Worth watching) - review by John
Right, so there was 2 versions of this film made. I liked this one 'slightly' more than the swedish version. Daniel Craig was good and I dont like him in everything, here he was good. Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace were both great in both versions. I cant separate them (but also wasnt paying close attention to comparisons). The rape scenes had me covering my butt hole and going 'ouch' and Im not usually squeamish... hope thats not bad language for this review. Anyway, 4/5

ah I liked it. I workout while I watch movies and this one was and A-grade workout movie.
(Excellent) - review by John
its not too bad, but full feacal sink? It was touching in who wants to be a millionaire but not so here... otherwise ok
I really enjoyed it. It was a solid movie. Taylor Ktisch was good and the lead girl was good.. sometimes she wasnt quite on the mark, but all round it was a really enjoyable movie for an adult. The "kid friendly" elements were not a turn off and didn't detract. Worth the time.
(Excellent) - review by John
I like Sean Bean. The rest of the movie was just ok. Charlotte Rampling is watchable but she's a minor part.
(Worth watching) - review by John
4 man show, Kate wasnt that great. Stopped at puke.
This is 'ok', the film quality harkens back to a 50s taped movie – even if its effective. The story is good, but as a movie I compare it to the Aviator where Leo conjures another prominent American - the Aviator was better. I wanted to rate this higher because Clint directed and it was good as a historical piece and as a political piece but not too much else. 2.5/5
Al Pacino's performance is questionable. I don’t really think he's bought much to his acting career for a while, he can be interesting and play a 'type' ok, but he lacks inventiveness. The tamber (timbre) on Leelee Sobieskis voice is nice in the last 5 minutes. 2/5.
Everyone was solid and Sam is great but his american accent is mush. And someone mispelled the title, it should be "Man upstaged by booty"... 3.5/5
(Worth watching) - review by John
It just doesnt quite get there. It looks like the budget got spent on the actors and a couple of 'oooo electric aliens!!!' cgi. Really not bad, but the atmosphere is too thin - thats probably a function of poor production values and ability. s'ok all up.
(Worth watching) - review by John
Its not bad, its an ok action flick, it doesnt really disappoint and doesnt reallly impress. At least you wont be annoyed that you got a dud. 3/5

yep nothing special, but a really good watch, ryan reynolds is decent and dw is solid. 4/5
(Excellent) - review by John
I liked it. The quality of the film grain was not that great and some of the action sequences were a bit hand-i-cam, but yeah, Olga being harassed then getting angry and shooting guns is kind of her niche....
(Excellent) - review by John
This was good. Chewing off ears was never going to get him mainstream kudos, but here at least he is lucid and if nothing else, pretty honest. Listening too him isnt easy on the ears but there is very little spin. He's a true believer and it paid off for his boxing career. 4/5
(Excellent) - review by John
Great

Super-solid story-telling. It's true you might get bored, but only because we're all so used to vapid and glib scripts that when some takes their time we get confused and assume it should be faster. Break the habit 5/5
(Not to be missed!) - review by John
I like kate becks and underworld so I like this. Kate Becks gets better as the story goes on. Having children has obviously taken her away from entertaininng us with her hotness, hopefully the next break wont be so long...

They obviously had a look of footage of Senna, I assume because he was so high profile. That said, it would have been good to get more real depth in the Prost - Senna relationship and the Senna - F1 management relationship. The culpability of Williams is only strongly suggested by omg that look responsible for his death. Public sport and spiritual experiences dont mix in my opinion. Still, yes was a good story.
(Worth watching) - review by John
It was a good(ish) movie but I expect A-grade animated features to be as cogent and cohesive as A-grade flicks that aren't animated. This kind of wasn't. For me, its a significant criticism that in order to get somewhere the filmaker creates a slippery association or realisation so the story jumps to where he wants it. If the comic books were like this I didnt notice it as much. On film its stands out and is kind of b-grade story telling. Great animation.
I suspected Zuckerberg was/is a tool. This movie tells that story.
(Excellent) - review by John
I found this a bit low rent. I expected more Hero and crouching tiger, what I got was... low rent in comparison.

Damn I love watching Li Gong. She was sublime in Miami Vice (but was that difficult against Collin Farrels mo and mullet?) and in this she is so tasty. John Cusack has ambled along for a while (imo) but here he is less sub-par then usual, though he phones in the narrative at times. (So yeah he is good here). Chow Yun Fat was eponymous in Crouching Tiger and by Type its probably his strength. Here in a more subdued role he doesnt shine so much. The writing is solid though lets down the story at time. But overall yeah, I did really enjoy this movie - much more than I expected. (Gong Li ty)

Standard Nicolas Cage movie - not so bad if you don't mind some C grade action.
Amber Heard is eye candy. If you dont mind aging actors doing the same thing they were doing 20 years ago, this will be fine. And I admit, I dont mind it. 3.5/5

pretty solid movie, nice cast. hilary swank doesnt quite nail the accent and sam rockwells age makeup misses the mark. but they're criticisms that are mostly superficial on an otherwise nice movie.

wysiwyg, its not porkies but its on the toilet side of a rom com. imo it was good.

Pretty solid movie. Vague sense of "its a documentary" but its clearly well put together and goes alonng nicely without being too preachy.
A good tale. 4/5
(Excellent) - review by John
The composition was disjointed. It suffers from a lack of cohesion not dissimilar to the composition of the Jason momoa Conan movie.
A viewer can gapfill time dissonance, bare character motives or non-existance plot bases' but an intelligent person will reach a point of consternation at all of them all at once.
this way of movie making is becoming more pervasive, but only the superior movie makers actually understand what they have done. If the move maker is just tagging along on a trend, then dont expect the audience to acclaim the title.
Otherwise good.

Don't bother with Disc 5 if you just want the series itself.

Don't watch this.
Typically, cinema is stylised to create a feel. This movie looks like your back yard - ordinary (literally). Someone got a cheap digital camera, put some fry pans on their heads, got a hot girl to do some pseudo porn and wrote down the first thing that came into their head to create a script.
Awful. you'd better results by typing maria ozawa into google without safe search.... sad.

Pretty good Disc, like disc 3 the action has stepped up.
The storyline is not as strong as the Savaage storyline in Disc 3, but still strong.
(Excellent) - review by John
Some pretty good episodes. The action has certainly stepped up from Disc 1.
The Savaage storyline is really good. Though he's not Darth Maul's "brother", he's his kin.

1. Should have been called "Elizabeth and Diana".
2. No doubt Helen Mirren is good, nevertheless this is a sanitised rendition that is palatable to the real (actual) royals themselves. Helen Mirren does superior service by casting Elizabeth in this light... Helens a smarter and more worldly woman than Elizabeth really is.
3. Prince Phillip is also aptly done.
4. It's short.
5. The Tony Blair position and character are also somewhat overdone.
6. Has the smell of propaganda in regard to the royals vs Diana.
3/5

Disc 1 episodes are a bit meh. Ahsoka Tano gets the action moving in the last episode on the disc.
Z grade is correct. My 4 year old nephew could have done a better job. Horrible clothes, sets, dialogue, lighting, writing, composition, everything. Almost completely meaningless.
Not "So bad it's good". Just bad.
