Surprising in that it is a long DVD and good quality. Benny is very talented and the skit as a clown is so good that I watched it several times.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Perhaps not as good as disc 1 being more of the shorter skits, but still good humour, Leo in the SWAT team is a couple of funny ones and watch for the short tales menu at the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Interesting to see what those English name actors were like many years ago, it was good enough. Must have been a challenge making all those "bedlam" scenes like the hockey match, science lab (making gin) and the horse stealing.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Almost discourages one from going to Amsterdam, some ideas for a visitor, but many things you wouldn't do in this wonderful city as well, thankfully it was short.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Not action packed, but a "feel good" movie about a son inheriting the family shoe factory and with his sense of decency making a unlikely ally for successful outcome including his own love - seems it is based on reality.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
You can see where the ideas for Mick Dundee come from, another great and funny trip down memory lane, short but good including the appearance of the drunk from Sting and a very helpful (?) bobbie.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Another good Aussie movie, a little different as it starts off as a one person narrative, but humour in every line, and develops into a great story about a nice person with a strange career.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
I generally like old English movies, but Peter Sellers in Heavens Above was just OK and thought this may bet better. It doesn't, the only interesting thing is seeing London lifestyle in the early sixties.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
This is a modern little gem, where lives are entwined at Thursday night dancing lessons after a hapless baker and widower arrive at a car accident and then try to convey the dying man's message - very entertaining movie which leaves you feeling good afterwards.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
It celebrates 21 years of television, we are now at 50, just proves humour is timeless. A long DVD but you cannot stop as the gags with Hoges, Strop & Delvene just keep coming, his theme as the drunk in The Sting is continuous amusement.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Reasonable credible story with Steve McQueen being the timely hero at the end, but numerous other name actors including Bobby Darin. An entertaining B&W movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
What a great Aussie movie with then budding actors including a young Rebecca Gibney. Good story line with a humour throughout and a tear jerker ending.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Thought that Bobby Darin was not very nice to Sandra Dee, this movie is pretty well the opposite and well worth watching to see the progression of Bobby from a child to his intimely death.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
An early Peter Sellars movie, it was entertaining confusion over 2 ministers with the same name, a little on the weak side but probably good for its day.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Heard it was a classic and it really was a terrific story of a young woman breaking away from the norm and a tutor with those special skills. Not as old as I thought, but if you ignore some of the background, it is a timeless story.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
An oldie but a goodie, Errol Flynn is a feature as one of the doctors who struggle with the early flying problems of pilots blacking out. Not a war movie, but of flying history.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Good idea in that it is split between northern Spain and Southern Spain, certainly gives you a look of both current life in Spain and the tourist highlights, but like some others it seems to concentrate a lot on the host traveller.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Hyacinth is great as usual, in these early ones you can still see the series building with the neighbour's brother moving in and the Major's unwelcome advances.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A good story line of how the son in particular prepares for his fathers funeral, but with some bad American excesses this movie goes close but fails to get you interested.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Thought the remake was funnier than the original series, Steve Martin did a good job as the bumbling detective and there were no quiet moments.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Started as a 2 with the South American beaches, but worth a 4 for picking the top spots in SE Asia, India, Australia and the Pacific. Boracay in the Philippines is a top spot and included.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Some people were portrayed as very strange, perhaps it was just American overkill. Obviously some TV name actors a new WWII movie up to Dday, but it is a trend that I didn't like very much.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Probably better than a 3, it was good old WWII spying
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
All the Elvis impersonators have jolly bad luck, while the bumbling pink lady finally meets her man with a little humour and some shorts of Elvis songs along the way.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Just like Serendipity where boy meets girl but for only brief periods together over the years, until almost too late they realise they are destined to be together - entertaining.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
It is a movie which shows its age, but good story from constuction of the destroyer to soon after being sunk in action and following the memories of a few as they drift in and out of consciouness awaiting rescue.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Interesting tale of George & Mildred celebrating (?) their wedding anniversary and the many mixups that follow. Not as funny as some of the TV series, but good to watch right through.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Anything with Sandra Bullock is good, but a very entertaining story leading from confusion at a hospital to Sandra being taken in bya well meaning but humourous family and finally being a love story as she falls for the victim's brother.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Either a poor attempt at comedy or even a poorer attempt at a war movie or the Americans again trying to fabricate a story about the Pom's involvement in cracking the Engima code.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Don't know why we haven't heard more about this, Judi Dench is great as the difficult but understanding widow, the story is different and the vaudeville is very artistic, very entertaining all round.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
Bit like "Lost in Translation", think it is finally getting interesting towards the end when the screen suddenly goes black and that is it, think if you knew the plot beforehand you wouldn't bother watching.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Trendy movie with big name english actors and modern themes from IVF to brash executives, but the occasional humour is not enough to make it a totally entertaining package.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Worried that it was going to be a serious movie, but it was great fun with a great family and a flash 25th anniversary party.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
The movie concentrated on a very small band of American prisioners in a German POW camp, hard to follow some of the subtle moves at times and somewhat unsavoury with the racial hatred, but all up a good and different war movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Nice story, all the cast were good and leave you feeling where have you seen them before. Nice to see the change between New York and England and the days leading up to the wedding are something you could do yourself.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
All the Columbo series are much the same, he looks a bit younger but still daggy and his dog appears with much the same look.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
I must have been the only one not to have seen this movie, a young Tom Hanks and the usual Meg Ryan in where man and woman almost do not meet up, despite efforts of one enterprising son.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
What a great Australian movie made in Taiwain (that's a twist), it is credited with accurately depicting the Australian WWII Task Force Z and features Mel Gibson just before he become a star - great actors, great plot, great viewing!
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Very different showing both the beauty and misery of Africa and despite the efforts of 2 desperate people against the English bureaucracy and the greedy corporates, the suffering goes on.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The series hasn't aged at all, maybe Peter Falk's smoking may not be tolerated, but looking forward to some more about the way detective work use to be done.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Maggie Smith is the star instead of Rowan Atkinson, interesting movie about what you can get up to at the vicarage, you can add 2 & 2 together after a while.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Liked all Jennifer Lopaz movies and a bit of a bonus with Jane Fonda as future mother-in-law. Both ladies score a few wins with the odd laugh and finally they agree on a draw, about the same highlight as seeing Venus Beach.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Different to what I expected, but making a movie about making a movie was a great way to bringing the old TV favourite back, including flashbacks to the TV show.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Different and good, the young son seeing his father going off to war and then experiencing the blitz was a really good actor. The end showing off England's rivers was also very nice.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Similar plot to Cinema Paridisio, but the Last Picture Show comes a poor second, as a good lad is taken by just about everyone in a small American town going through the downfall of it's only cinema (and pool hall), even the ending is an anti-climax.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A different war story about a pilot being shot down in Korea, a bit of American overkill to leave you wondering how one pilot can get so much attention.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Excellent movie, Nic Cage as the tough marine brings the inexperienced Navajo through the horrors of war in the Pacific and you can actually see some truths strung together.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Most Australian movies, recent or older, are very good. This is an exception, the best bit is the scenery around the Hawkesbury River.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Probably should rate this a zero, no entertainment value, as some spin doctors try to divert attention away from a wayward president's misdeavours.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
This would be the worst war movie that we have seen, all big name actors but no creditibility to the plot, topped off when the officers finally turn on their own captain.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Don't why we haven't heard more about this one, wonderful story about a recluse and an all-round talented teenager from a struggling family in the Bronx.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
An oldie but a goodie, John Wayne is the usual tough imprisioned westener who is busted out to sail a whole village of refugees to Hong Kong. The ferry boat was also tough to do all the things expected of it and Lauren Bacall finally gets her man.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Herbie is almost timeless from the 1960's to the modern edition now, young people and young themes as Herbie goes from the wrecker to the racetrack, good fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A new documentary that also manages to show new material and it is all about Aussies, hadn't seen the US submarines picking up our POWs before and feelings will be aroused by the Borneo stories.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Different with Anthony Quinn once a shephed but now as an army officer being promoted after his "adventures" fighting in Vietnam and Libya. The cold-blooded shooting is overdone, but probably indicative of France's disastrous colonisation.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Steve McQueen is the tough, successful and different bomber pilot with mixed relationships with his crew, eventually he gets them all home but himself goes down with his plane.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
One of Jackie's best as he get in and out of fast moving trouble in Turkey, it is worth it just to see him as a gym equiptment salesman and wrecking a whole fishing village.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Reasonable story of nice guy meets career orientated women, a little comedy and romance as they work it out.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
To be at the concert would have been great, but this DVD is just as good - songs especially Maggie May, band including the violinist and sax player and the stage lighting at Royal Abert.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Maybe one gets tired of seeing Kirk Douglas as the hero, as the story about the lead-up to the nuclear bomb may be true, but Norwegian life under the German occupation seems too easy in this movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Happy to support Australian movies, thought this was going to be a lot of scenery of WA, it turned out to be an intriguing story with the Japanese visitor being returned home in a coffin.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were great communicating over the email unaware of their real life business battles, but of course all is ultimately forgiven as they are united.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Interesting movie, little bit of war, romance, intrigue and some great scenery. Frank and his English buddy have the knack of regulary switching from guerilla warfare to the safety and security of olden cities.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
Fast moving views of MacArthur in the early years, slowing down in the Japan/Korean years. Yes MacArthur knew how to make use of publicity, but was shown as a much better military strategist than I expected.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Long movie, no doubt historically sound when you follow the credits at the end. Interesting view of the final days in Hilter's bunker, with equal time given to many occupants and visitors. Most annoying was the English translation, always in white, often with a while background.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Interesting to see the WW1 props, some big name actors, but they didn't have to do much as the story was going nowhere.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Two great singers together on stage in Oz, a good selection of songs, nothing special as a stand-out though.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A little wierd with 2 competitive but very different brothers and Cameron Diaz in her usual role, watch it all the way through and they get their just deserts.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Not bad as the tough cop with some past home problems and the lost soul with greater problems get together, nothing tough in fact is was heart-warming.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Think it would have been a good movie if we could only see it, Marlon Brando as the dashing German, Montgomery Clift as the little battler and Dean Martin as the typical smoothie with a girl or 2 as the centre figures, wish we had seen it all.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A great movie centred around a military court room. David Niven is the accused but the ever popular officer. An old black and white, but drags you in emotionally, just have to start with to the end and I would have loved it to gone on longer.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Follows a group of marines from before the landing at Gaudcanal through 4 months of battle around Henderson Airfield until they are relieved, interesting as it follows the destiny of a small bunch of men and probably doesn't let the facts get in the way.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Like the trailer says, it is about the killer sub and the sub killer. Interesting movie of an American rookie destroyer crew and the experienced German submariners stalking each other in the South Atlantic with the final score being one each.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Surprising movie with Kirk Douglas as a CIA agent and wayward Dad, the future father-in-law is in for a lot of action - a good fun, clean movie.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Great series with Jackie as "John Wayne", saw it at the movies but all the wisecracks and kungfu action is worth seeing again, as they exploit olden time London.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Sean Connery at his grumpy best, with Meg Ryan as his daughter. Typical car chase in San Francisco and a far fetched but entertaining movie around an air force base.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A very old movie of a bunch of raw recruits training for the ultimate sacrifice and a young David Niven, but interesting with a bit of a sense of history and probably what England was like before the war.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Not really a war movie, a little far fetched and a little humourous and with a star studed cast. The scenery on the Greek island of Rhodes was nice and it was entertaining as the band of resistance, Poms, Yanks and even a German who changed sides overcome a futuristic German outpost.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A modern story about boy turning into girl and vice versa, not hilarous but enough to encourage you to watch to the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The awards and reviews made it sound great and it was. Having the english sub-titles was at first a disappointment, but following a young but lively and intelligent Salvatore into the country cinemas when they were the only place of entertainment and his experiences thereafter including a final return to the derelict cinema, was truly an emotional but fun movie.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
Not good enough to remember from the movies, but Bill Murray and his mate get into enough funny trouble on joining the army with a group of total misfits.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The first episode is the same on the Christmas Special, but the others are where poor Richard takes "early retirement". As usual Onslow is terrific and the last episode on Hycanith getting the travel brochures, I have never seen on TV.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A D-day movie that was hardly about the war, an American and English officer both fall for the same girl, but end up fighting together. Pretty well done on the war years in London, with a fair bit of romance thrown in.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Remember this from the movies, when a young girl was better at conniving and cheating then her guardian. The O'Neals were great in the role and a thoroughly entertaining movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Being an older movie it is not very sophiscated in either the movie making or the war concept, but interesting to see Errol Flynn and at least Burma was different.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Like anything with Meg Ryan in it, Kevin Kline made a nice rogue, great scenery and although the outcome was predictable, getting there was plenty of fun and on the move.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Nowhere near as good as the first Flintstone movie, in fact many of the old Fred and Barney traits are missing, just watched it to see if it got better.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
The change to comedy for Van Diesel was well done, it was a American movie that was funny without the need for canned laughter, kept moving to be of interest, great parts played by everyone.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A fairly flat movie as Hugh Grant as a rich playboy tries to invent a normal life, but does befriend a struggling mum's son and it all turns out for the best.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
It is interesting to see many of the funny situations were set up in the first of the series, the cast looks a little different over time, but everybody will enjoy Hycanith.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
An interesting movie of the early struggle in Israel, no wonder it remains a trouble spot today. Not really a war movie, Kirk Douglas is a smoothie and surprise appearances by other big names. The movie making techniques seem older than 1996.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Interesting movie of the troubled and talented early years of Ray Charles, long movie but really done as Ray develops his musical career.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A terrible storyline, unbelievable plot and the few words that are used are barely understood, leads me to avoid Peter O'Toole movies in the future.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
Interesting movie of suspense, all are on edge as the American destroyer has the Russian submarine trapped with disarterous results for both.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
If that was a travel guide to the Caribbeans, there would be little attraction to go. The guide had strange tastes and strange conversations, but I have seen worse.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Different Christmas story as Tim Allen decides not to have Christmas and go on a cruise instead and the trouble that decision gets him into. A bit of fun, good Christmas spirit and just a nice family movie.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Great opening views of Sydney in the "old days", bit far fetched as John Wayne escapes across the Pacific and the Atlantic, but there is a story, good quality and different to watch.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The Christmas Specials are 4 x 1 hour episodes from various years, all very funny with Hyacinth at her overbearing best. Not a rerun of what you see on TV and Onslow on the QE2 is a treat.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Interesting story about the courage of Douglas Bader, had to fit a lot into a short movie, but in doing so made war look a little too easy.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Working our way through the Graham Kennedy movies, others such as The Club and Travelling North are better, but still worth having a look at Aussies in the 70s.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Well constructed movie on the 25th raid by the Memphis Belle and it's crew over Germany. Couldn't leave this movie until the heart tugging finale of the Belle just getting the crew home to England.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Interesting movie, very english but a fair interpretation of Rommel. Ties very closely into other movies on both the war in Africa and D-day.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
One of those Carry Ons that you can watch a few times and still laugh and love it. Sid and Hattie are a couple running a mating agency with their own special interests. The clothing and background are just another era to remember.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A "feel good" movie with plenty of colour and dancing and manage to weave a story in between, look on it as a bit of life and humour, not Bollywood.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A lot of the footage reminds me of "Sands of Iwo Jima", but interesting enough movie, this time with the ever tough leader John Wayne taking his squadron off as rookies to become the ever reliable team flying in the Pacific.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
I got it because they said the countryside was pretty - it was too. However everything about the Vietnam War has been sad, this is no different although despite the odds one Vietnamese woman outlasts many others.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Hard to get started, but then a touching story about 3 very different individuals, shame the end was so sudden.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
I was expecting more, some of the oldies have been great, but this was just an average story of several people with a not-so-pleasant life. A very young Frank Sinatra was interesting.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Should be a classic, love Elvis singing this style of music and it is even a reasonable story between the songs. Interesting to see Hawaii in the "old days".
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Couldn't bring myself to watch it all the way through, a boring movie as 2 college graduates team and she finds the diary to trace his past associations.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
A chick flick with a bit of comedy, better than the last Brittany Murhpy movie. The odd funny piece rewards you for sitting through the courtship, wedding, honeymoon and eventual reunion.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Maybe it was real life, but a boring movie about waiting around in Vietnam to go to war and then an equally long time in trying to take the top of one particular hill, don't know if it was American overkill or just a poor story to document.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Totally impressed by the skills and the foresight of the real Howard Hughes, you can understand his own pressures that made him a recluse.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
The Northern Belle is one of the Orient Express trains that just do day trips in the UK, therefore not so much of a film on the train and there was an annoying habit of showing 2 diffent scenes over the top of each other.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A really great movie, if you took away the old Holdens, the stubby shorts and the light traffic in Melbourne, this movie would still be a hit today. Everyone has got to see this with Graham Kennedy and Jack Thomson as stars.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Well done on the life of Peter Sellers emerging from a radio star to the famous Pink Panther and his unfortunate passing by a bad heart that plagued him for years. I thought very similar to the Cole Porter movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
An oldie, but a goodie, if you like Hawaian scenes you will like this with Elvis as a helicopter pilot who seems to be expected to sing a bit.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A bit too artificial to be entertaining when the author of the book "Down with Love" is spurned by the male dominated publishing companies in New York.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Not much of a story, more of a travel promotion for California wineries. You could almost like the rogue, Jack, at least he added a little humour
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Start off reasonable as the tough Clint Eastwood is sent back to his old Marine platoon and the problems of meeting up with his ex-wife. At the end the movie detiorated for a very false battle to rescue some students who didn't seem to need rescuing.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A long drawn out movie, about as long as the flight from San Francisco to Jamaca that they did a couple of times. The scenery in Jamaca was fantastic, a little humour but not much else.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Probably one of the newer Doctor series, but entertaining and funny and all the usual stars. Moved along well from the doctors ending their internship, a break in a "camp", to working on Harley Street and making the commitment to marriage.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
One of the better Steve Martin movies, Queen Latifah is well casted with him to form a team of opposites and the trouble that can bring to his well ordered life as a lawyer.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Almost a 4, maybe because I am a Richard Grere fan. Entertaining movie about an older man wooing a younger girl who turned out to have a terminal illness. The seasons of New York added to the beauty.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Was looking for the movie, but the documentary was very interesting, from the bomb design to the bravery of the flight crew and a look at the German landscape.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Just a nice movie about nice people in a very scenic San Francisco, nice families and some who have very fancy weddings. The nice doctor does get the nice girl at the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The reviews had not been brilliant, but just a nice movie about boy meets girl and it happens to be put together around Wimbledon, certainly not too much tennis.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Just a good movie with good casting and a nice flow to the storyline about an advertising executive and a journalist who get together for work reasons, but of course their destiny is much more than that.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Terrible style of making a movie, watched to see if it gets better and that was the only reason to put up with it
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A really good one, with Leslie Phillips creating mayhem around the hospital as he is teamed up with James Robertson Justice.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Seems to be one of the newer doctor series, in colour and with minis (cars, that is). Dirk Borgarde is now a senior doctor, but still smooth with the girls and spends most of his time keeping James Robertson Justice on track.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A long movie and the truth is stretched too, but an old time look at Pearl Harbour and whilst the John Wayne war movies have been good, this is probably the best of the bunch,
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
What a great musical of Cole Porter songs, great backdrops and it manages to tell an easy to follow story of his life while also featuring many songs - everything is well done!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
Not the usual team, but many you will recognise from other series. Definitely very funny as a group of misfits who man (or woman) a anti-aircraft gun in wartime England. One of the better Carry-Ons!
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
An average movie about a guy who finally decides to get married, but to do it quickly Los Vegas style. From there he almost gets cheated out of the girl and the movie gets better as they travel to Hawaii and more Elvis's get involved.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Very slow moving, a more serious role for Sandra Bulloch as jilted mother, who leaves the city for her family home in the country with a reluctant daughter. Just a 3 as a real effort to stay interested to the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Helps if you can remember the predecessor, reasonably fast moving and a little funny as Bruce Willis is forced to resume his gangster role by his bumbling ex-neighbour, the dentist, and their respective and scheming wives.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Some of the other reviews almost put me off it, but while a "strange" movie it was good humour around the 5 vastly different characters in their different approach to a robbery. You couldn't pick the ending and great acting by all including Tom Hanks.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Interesting review of the appointment of Ike by Winston Churchill to be the supreme commander in the lead up to D Day from their UK headquarters. If you saw the landings in France, this the before bit.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A interesting story line as we follow the beautiful but innocent "Isabella" from Brazil to San Francisco. It was just all pleasant so you had to keep watching despite a lack of action.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A different and interesting story line as a drunkard and dwarf get criminally involved each Christmas. A persistent but lonely young boy gradually changes the drunk's outlook on life. If there wasn't so much language, would have easily been a 3.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Seems to be a bit of a rare Carry On, as hadn't seen it before. As it had much of the original gang including Sid James, it was plenty of fun as they come up with the witchdoctors valuable weight loss formula.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Remember seeing it at the movies, but good enough to watch again. Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt played great roles as competitors in the advertising world and a little romance thrown in as well - close to a 4.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Got it for the dancing and the latin dancing was great, also a reasonable representation of recent life in Cuba. Regardless of the story line, the visual impact makes this movie worthwhile watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Different story as girl rushes off from her life of being organised by others to search for this mystic person. The search takes us through some very pretty Italian scenery and finally the right girl gets the right boy with a little humour along the way.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Graham Kennedy is the star, interesting story about the SAS in the Vietnam war and the lack of support in Australia. A few more soldiers got killed here than real life, but truth shouldn't get in the way of a good story.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Beautiful surrounding, some good songs, but a few unknowns as well. Even though filmed on Judith's 60th birthday, just not good enough to be a 3.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A wide variety of quality gardens in Australia, generally showed before and after shots and many were completed by "non-professionals". As good as any in Don's world series.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Entertaining movie about several lads getting back together before their school reunion. After a few days they come to appreciate what they already had. This had it all humour, romance and even could be true.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Close to a 4, the best of the John Wayne war movies that I have seen. A B&W oldie, some interesting war footage and in this case John Wayne gets his lady (again).
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A good movie on leadership in general and the strain of flying bombers in WW2. A war movie I hadn't seen on TV and believable, Gregory Peck and the supporting cast were also very good.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
John Wayne and Lee Marvin may have been younger then, but not that young to do an ordinary acting job. Even with a segment of Aussie influence could not liven up this movie of John in a casual and tropical environment meeting a rich and classy lady.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
Feeling generous to give it a 3, as better than some of the other American attempts at a light hearted movie. The fleeting comparisons to animals make it interesting in a romantic story as a woman navigates around 2 very different men working with her.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Was going to give it a 1, but because it is typical of what Charlies Angels are all about, girls in tight clothes jumping around (a bit like the movie itself), moved up to a 2.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Almost a 3, slightly humourous as you follow the adventures of a newly married couple and an obstinate old lady who is a tennant in the duplex that the estate agent persuaded them to buy (he reappears at the end).
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
The wife liked it, bit of a twist when big and little sister are having conflicting thoughts as a star shoots past. All eventually returns to normal, but you have to pick a few quick moments to get any humour out of this.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Same old gang, but a lot newer and perhaps slightly less funnier than the TV series. Still good fun as they get into a lot of trouble holidaying in Costa Plonka, Mr Humphries makes the show.

Different to what I expected, a group of spies were trained in the USA and then 3 parachuted into Brussels, some twists and turns there in a short period of time. A very young James Cagney and old enough to be B&W.

Some of the other comments made me wary, but thought it was a typical John Wayne movie, OK with lots of action but a few little human angles and different with the Vietnam setting.

A good movie where Julia and Nick compete with each other for the same story, of course not only do they scoop the story on CHESS chemicals but end up with each other as a bonus.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
It it not another baseball movie, but a very good story with some humour, history, compassion & competitive teamwork. A nice touch showing the girls in the 1940's and then at their current day reunion.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A fun movie by Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney as single parents with their respective son/daughter and having to get through what may be a typical working weekend in New York - well done!
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Compared to the others in the series, they did a good job in making the Ghan and Australia (Sydney to Alice) look very good, would have to attract overseas visitors.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
This is an old B&W about a squad of conscripts and a bit rare as hadn't seen on TV. No Sid James but the oldies do seem to be more fun.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
An interesting movie with a mixture of staged and actual footage. Very young John Wayne & Forest Tucker (Serg. O'Rourke in F Troop). Probably depicts WW2 in the Pacific very well.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Forgotten how good it was, Walter Chiari plays a great Nino Culotto, Sydney sure looks different in the 60's and even the story about making the film was great.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
Not a fancy train just some nice observation carriages, but as it gets a few days out the lakes, mountains & fjords are terrific scenery and the special is the midnight sun.

Best described as an "OLD black & white war movie" of a submarine operating out of Pearl Harbour. The new captain wins over the hearts of his crew but never makes it back to port.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The best of anything from Quickflix so far, follows the Seekers Reunion Concert in Melbourne, some old clips and making their new CD - the future. Can play this several times.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Ronald
A slightly interesting and humourous movie as a con man starts to help people who have written to God and their letters have ended up in the dead letter office in LA.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
All the glitz of the Angels, they are never really bad, action packed and something to watch when there is nothing else to do.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A terrible story line of a bumbling man searching for his real parents, do not know why some good actors wanted to be in this movie.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
One of the better war movies, seems to be a true story on the race between the Americans advance and the Germans retreat to the last bridge over the Rhine at Remagen. Equal time given to both sides of the story and interesting that the bridge collapsed 4 days after capture by the Americans.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Not a complex storyline, just a story of some young people in a band raising to fame from the high school concerts to touring the shows to LA movies & TV appearances and then with fame, the breakup. Does a very good job of taking you back to the 60's.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Almost a 4, had the feel of a home-made movie, but entertaining as a teacher with her perfectly controlled life sees happiness in the world of ordinary people.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A great movie on how a young boy is slowly accepted by and during the course of, changes the outlook of his uncles. Albeit a bit far fetched, it was heart warming and good fun.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Cannot understand why Julia or Brad wanted to be in this movie as it bumbles along in more ways than one about possession of a Mexican pistol. Just a 3.

Hadn't seen this drive through the desert on the good old ABC, so for that reason it was good. A bit far stretched when the few prisioners in a German camp in the desert seem to grow in number to do miracles in Tobruk, but the variety in the cast made it good watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Almost a 4, good fun, reminds you of the old days. Half way through this series we make the change from B&W to colour, but other than that the antics of Sid, his family and neighbours are timeless.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
It is worth seeing one of the "classics", made when a movie depended on the actors and Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard have not let us down. The long enduring Japanese man upstairs is also good, is it Mickey Rooney?
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Australian humour is good, you can relate to the meatworker Wally Norman and his efforts to do good by his mates. The number of quality Australian comedians in this pushed it from a 3 to a 4.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A grand old black & white war movie, assume there is some truth about it and makes you proud to be an Australian. Entertaining, some good acting and you will be surprised to see them so young.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A very strange movie about a father who tells such tall stories that they become believable to him. This is intertwined with the son, who is embarrassed by these stories, until the father's last living moments. I wouldn't call it an entertaining movie, but there is nothing bad about it either.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The subtle humour in this was fantastic, it was close to the cartoon strip. The blending of animation and the real(?) world was well done. All up, it was a much better movie than I thought it would be.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Certainly was a big movie by the actors involved and some of the effects that were involved before the days of digital trickery. Interesting to see about equal time given to the German side, sits very close to what I have seen in documentaries. Looking forward to the bonus disc.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
It was good in that Don showed us some great gardens (some, just so), but then a very brief look at similar gardens in Australia. Certainly the size and variety of the garden in Versailles was spectular.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The family enjoyed it more than myself, probably because I couldn't call it humourous. Just a nice story about man meets woman, marries shortly after meeting her parents and then things go weird for a while.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A humourous storyline of opposites attract as a man is lead into (or gets himself) into so much trouble with a woman. Good fun, good actors in a fast moving plot.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Just a 3, not weak enough to be a 2, the countryside was nice, the simple life was easy to take, but lucky to find a story in it.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Not in the same class as Calendar Girls or Bend It Like Beckham, but a bit of fun as 3 lads in a small Scottish village try to improve their life (or at least stay level), but their humourous adventures have them going backwards until the end.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Nothing like I expected, but it is one of those rare "flash-back" movies that is really well done and you can follow what is going on. Cast do a good job with the characters and the scenery is great, especially in Egypt.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
I'd forgotten how good this movie is. It is well written about several separate but inter-related couples leading up to Christmas. A bit of humour yet leaving you filled with warmth on the actions of this group of Englishmen.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Not really a Christmas movie, you could watch it anytime. The singing by Bing & Danny is good, but I thought the dancing by the girls was really something. The old movies have to rely on the actors and the storyline (yes, there is one), there are no special effects. High entertainment value.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
The other reviewers have got it right, not the most exciting war movie with a lot of mundane flying in it, but there is a story. Watch for a young John Meillon as the Aussie pilot.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Adam Sandler humour is not good, the other cast members help it along, the ending just manages to make this into a story. Something to watch if there is nothing else to do, but cannot understand those good reviews.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Interesting movie, won't be for everyone as it is not an action movie etc. Had previously heard that Albert Finney played a great role as Winston, that is true, as is the role of Ronnie Barker. If the movie is true, it shows Winston Churchill at a time when he was out of favour before WW2.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Saw it at the movies, liked it then and still thought it was good the 2nd time around. A sort of reluctant love story, at first over 5 year intervals. Billy and Sally play great roles, you could almost think it to be for real.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Not too mcuh beauty about this strange movie (maybe not at the time it was made) centred around the 3 household members, they were all "different" as well as their neighbours. You had to sit through it to see what happened (or to see if if got better).
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Not a fast moving or a little bit of fun movie that I associate Julia Roberts with, but it was entertaining and she does bring some warmth and spirit to her character as an art teacher of basically spoilt & elite teenage girls.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Just makes the grade putting the odd smile on the face, English comedy is best in an English element.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Know it is not a travel movie, but expected so see more of the natural beauty of Hawaii, bit too much studio graphics and lava flows for me. The mountains and scenes we did see were spectalur.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
A really good movie to follow as the 3 young waitresses in the Mystic Pizza restaurant all have different experiences in love. The plot(s) is tied and held together very well, there is a story to this movie, which does not use sex scenes to make it.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A story about several ladies centred around their hairdresser, jumped around at the start, watched it for an hour to see if it come good, it didn't so turned it off before the end.
(Don't bother!) - review by Ronald
I think this is one of the classic war movies, told from the German side, some great name actors - Michael Caine is the hero from the baddies and Larry Hagman is just like JR at war. Seemed a long movie in time, but it held your interest and for a bonus a bit of a love story and some nice English countryside.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Just got this out because it was an "Australian" movie. But it turned out to be better reasons than that, it was sort of like one of Steve's nature shows with a comedy weaved in between. Magda does a great job (and so does the croc), Terri joins in the action and I am sure overseas viewers would be impressed with Australia's outback.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A bit of fun, a local yocal versus an ex-president not only to be mayor, but also for a girl. Not overdone as some American humour movies can be, recommend it.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
A believable war story, it moved along at fast pace and was well done as it only centred on a few characters. The hero didn't make it back, so a little heart wrenching finale.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A long movie, but remained interesting albeit far-fetched as bunch of American misfits and Canadian regular army were teamed together, trained and headed off to war to almost instantly become heroes. Filled in the time OK, great to see of the old actors again.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Small train, only 22 passengers and a couple of days round trip journey from Calgary. A bit of Canadian Pacific history going back to the 1930's and a little scenery, but not enough to make this one into an interesting video.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
Funny with the Sid James style of humour. Interesting to see life again in the start of sixties from the cabs to the mini-skirts. I would rank better than many of the other carry-ons, if you want to get back in time and have a laugh, then highly recommended.

Sandra Bulloch plays a role similar to Miss Congeniality. It was a fun movie, the hapless groom gets into so much trouble on his way from New York to Florida for his wedding and perhaps in the end the boy gets the wrong girl. Don't think you can call it a chick flick, jsut light hearted and worth watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Travelling North is showing its age a little bit with the VW combi, Ansett planes etc, but Leo McKern is almost playing a "Rumpole" role. He is grumpy but lovable and you have to have a laugh at his antics and his neighbour, Freddie, and doctor, Saul, just add to the fun. Not one that the kids would appreciate, but I could not leave it until the timely and organised end.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Wanted to compare this movie with the new release. The story about these wives associated with a mens club is a little wierd, but can see why it was interesting enough for a remake. It has not got the ending I wanted, and in fact any viewer may feel left a little short when the credits start coming up. However it is very good for the time it was produced and worth sitting through the strangeness of the story.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Nice, but not a particularly exciting video and a couple of basic attempts at being funny. Probably the best part was to see Julie Andrews on screen again.
(Maybe) - review by Ronald
It is really 36 video clips of ABBA. A real memory trip back to the seventies with the music, although in some of the later clips, there are some songs that I haven't heard before (a couple not in English). The unusual dress sense continues throughout, some of the backgrounds are unusual, even white, and you will see a change in the individual members over the time period between all clips. As for a musical DVD, I really liked Dolly Parton better, it was live and more entertaining.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
Chicago deserves its accolades as a modern musical, I think better than Moulin Rouge. The singing, dancing and scenes were great and there was a story that you could follow. Several big name stars who all did a great job.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Entertaining movie that you will definitely want to watch to the end after the start. The story moves from a young woman who has had a successful start in the fashion industry, then is subsequently surprised by wedding proposal and has to return to her small country town in Alabama to put her past in order. This is where the story really starts and the movie gets plenty of stories in a short space, of course there is a flip at the end but cannot give that bit away in this review.

The fetchmemovies synpsosis is what you really get with this, black & white video, a flashback to the seventies (says it is the original series, must be early) and plenty of fun. It stirs the memory into action if you had seen the series on TV. Definitely worth getting out and I will try another volume now.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
The recommendation in fetchmemovies was attractive enough to have a look at this DVD. It was the first musical that I have had and thought it was terrific. Dolly's well known songs were there and even the less known were really good. She did a piece with a few of the band members with no music backing and that was really good, it was also interesting when she gave a brief explanation on some of the songs (eg Applejack). Not overdone with the applause and no time wasting at all, I may go and get this one out in the future again.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Had seen it at the cinemas and thought it was good then, wasn't in a hurry to watch the DVD, but how wrong I was. A good fast moving movie where boy and girl just keep missing each other by the smallest margin, but fate eventually draws them back together at one of the original meeting places. Just about everyone should love this movie.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
From the preview I was not rushing to watch this movie, but what a wrong impression. Good family movie, nice touch of humour, great Australian scenes from Sydney to the Clarence River. It moved along at an interesting pace, good story line and even a little tug on the heartstrings. All the actors did a good job.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Wasn't in a rush to select this one, but now having seen it, wish I had requested it earlier. Billy played a great role and his language wasn't overdone, it was funny, a little heart wrenching and one of those movies you would watch twice. I heard the kids laughing at it while I was out in the garden - a good indication.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Not as good as the expectations from the high rating or preview, much of the movie was on each of the stars being alone for lenghty periods in a hotel room - while it was well done, it is hard to remain interested in that confinement. Very little had background scenes of Tokyo or Japan.
(Worth watching) - review by Ronald
It is like a series of mini Carry Ons, Sid James as Mr Handy is the central character who places all the other Carry On stars on out short jobs, each one has a great and funny role and for the finale they combine for a bit of the old slapstick humour. Probably best of the ones I have seen so far on fetchmemovies.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
A really good one, with equal time shared between all the old Carry On crew, also looks like a young Mrs Slocombe (Are You Being Served) in this one. Being 1959, still in b&w, interesting to see vehicles, buildings etc of the time. A good movie to sit back in the lounge, rest, relax and get a bit of humour back into your life.
(Excellent) - review by Ronald
Good for a chuckle but not a full on laugh. However worth siting through, it moved quickly, for an early Carry On the video was good quality and as it is not one that I have seen on TV, well worth watching to know you have seen the lot.
