This is a great movie with finely drawn characters and excellent performances all round. I'm not sure that I'd describe it as "thunderous action and nail-biting suspense" as the cover reports. Like all good westerns this is about mateship and sacrifice - the shoot-outs are incidental. It's a lovely understated film - the two main characters are brilliantly portrayed and even the women have a depth and complexity which is unusual in a western. Highly recommended.

This is absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen. Badly acted, poorly produced, lousy script, no plot, no character development - no point watching it. I haven't read the book although I have read The Host and quite enjoyed it, so I can't believe the book is this bad. If you want to do a movie about a young girl's fears about having sex and men being able to control their lustful natures (!), just make that the topic, not this euphemistic, sanitised rubbish. And if you want to do a vampire movie, do it properly, not some thinly disguised sappy teen romance. Even within the constraints of a romance vampire movie this is bad - there is no suspense, no pace, no progress, no story. Just one long constant overarching moan "I loooooooveee Eddddwarrrrrrrd" which is established in the first five minutes and doesn't change. About as interesting as a lovestruck teenager on Facebook.

This movie carries its audience and main characters safely across the everyday depths of despair with humour, charm and honesty. A surprisingly delightful production.

So much for my theory that Johnny Depp only makes quality movies! Had the potential to be a very fine psychological thriller, but was washed out by supernatural possession masquerading as an alien. Plot, characters and back story all as thinly drawn as a distant staticky radio transmission from the other side of the universe.

My 10 year old daughter ordered this because she loves the books to bits, but she absolutely hated this movie. Thought it was boring with none of the features that make the books so fabulous.

Exquisite and beautifully filmed. Slightly strange and quirky but a lovely exploration of strange and strained relationships.
