Good sci-fi movie with an interesting concept and fair share of action. Good couple of hours entertainment.

Enjoyable, warm and fuzzy movie. I was expecting it to be as disappointing as I found Valentine's Day but enjoyed this movie.

Gritty as I'd expect from a Martina Cole adaptation. I'm glad I didn't read this particular book first after reading the review below. I enjoyed this - thought the acting was great throughout. Some really nasty bits to the story (as you'd expect if you know Martina Cole's stories) so be warned. If you like criminal underworld style stories like Underbelly you might enjoy this.

Pretty awful! Having said that I managed to watch the whole thing (perhaps not giving it 100% attention the whole movie though!). Not the worst thing I've ever seen, but I've seen some pretty awful movies in my time!

Definitely not my favourite of the Nicholas Sparks stories, but an enjoyable movie. If I was still in my teens I would probably have absolutely raved about this movie though!

Didn't make it very far in - it just felt way too depressing. The preview made me think it was a funny film - maybe I didn't give it long enough for the laughs to kick in...

From the description I was expecting a scary movie, but it more of a sad movie. Interesting story, but I don't think I gave it the attention it probably deserved as it's not the sort of movie I had been wanting to watch. Maybe if I'd been in the mood for something a bit more serious rather than scary I would have been more engrossed.

Fun, lighthearted chick flick. Not earth shatteringly amazing, but entertaining and enjoyable.

I want the time I spent watching this movie back! Depressing and pointless. Zero stars!
(Don't bother!) - review by Laura
A little bit dated I felt but a good entertaining story - particularly loved the scenes where he began to learn a new language. I agree with AN below - entertaining, light and a bit different. The actors did well - not a 'let everyone know how amazing it is' kind of a movie but still enjoyable and worth a watch!

Okay so it's a B movie that's for sure, but having said that I enjoyed it. Yep definitely some cheesy acting, felt a bit sorry for Sean Bean as I'd generally expect to see him in much much much higher calibre movies that this one. I did actually enjoy it though - it wouldn't exactly be on you have to go out any buy it list, but take it as it is - a cheesy B movie - and you might enjoy it. If you hate B movies - don't go there!

This had a little bit of a B movie feel to it in the sense that it just didn't quite make the grade - that said I actually quite enjoyed it - it was pretty entertaining if a little silly at times. Shame Sean Bean didn't have a bigger role and can't take Taye Diggs seriously in this at all - maybe it's because I've seen him in Private Practice, but I honestly just don't think he was right for the character. Don't expect too much from this movie and you'll probably love it!

I thought that this was going to be an overly romantic, slushy movie after seeing the preview - it was actually much better than that! The story felt genuine, no cheesiness etc. The actors were great and really sucked you into the story. I guess it is a chick flick, but not a sickeningly slushy one! Pleasantly surprised!

This is the sort of movie you probably need to be in a certain mood to watch. It's pretty long and not a fast paced/action sort of a movie. It does however have a definite (very English) charm, intriguing plot and the acting is awesome. Probably the sort of movie I'd watch if I was off work sick and had plenty of time on my hands! Also probably would follow up with something short and light-hearted!
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
I enjoyed the movie but it is not a patch on the original Swedish version! Pretty good English version, but in my opinion pretty unnecessary when there's already a recent and superior version out there. Just goes to show that having a big budget does not always make a better movie. Still enjoyable but do yourself a favour and watch the original!

When this movie started I had a horrible feeling it was going to be a bit B movie - but it was Fantastic! Great old school Sci Fi with weird and wonderful characters/creatures. Likeable and engaging cast. Loved it!!!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Laura
I was really surprised to see so many good reviews for this movie. For me it really missed the mark - I felt like it should have been a good movie but was missing something. The cast were excellent but I just didn't engage with the characters at all - it probably didn't help that I found myself not particularly liking any of them (again not the actors fault you can only do so much with what you're given). I had been really looking forward to this movie so was really disappointed. I only kept watching it because Tom Hardy is so pretty to look at!

I've never seen the series but now definitely will! The movie was worth watching for the totally cringe-worthy dance scene if nothing else. If you don't know what to expect and are sensitive to swearing/the actions of horny teenagers please don't watch this. If you aren't quite a "grown-up" yet and find the mindset of horny teenage boys a source of hilarity - you'll love it!
(Excellent) - review by Laura
This is probably a good movie and maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind when I watched it, but I found it utterly depressing. If you are into deep and meaningful, emotional movies you'll probably love it!

Good light hearted entertainment - one of the funnier/better rom coms around.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I had high expectations for this and the movie just didn't anywhere meet them. I was thinking along the lines of a movie like Love Actually and it wasn't. Not sure what went wrong with it really. Not awful, just disappointing.

I was disappointed with this one. Glad not everyone was.

Enjoyable chic flick - not too cliched. Just good light hearted entertainment.

I'm really shocked to see that so many people didn't like this movie - I love it and I'm not in my teens or early twenties so I don't necessarily think it's a generational thing. If you like quirky off beat humor and awkward anti-heroes then you will probably love this. Yep it probably does seem a bit silly, but to me that was part of it's charm. It's not a movie you take seriously.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I was surprised by this movie - was expecting it to be enjoyable but a "Hollywood just please the crowds" type of movie. It was definitely still enjoyable, but actually much better made and acted than I was expecting. Worth a watch!
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
I really enjoyed this movie but it's clearly not for everyone. If you don't enjoy the more documentary style movie that sticks more to reality than high action/drama/deep human emotions etc give it a miss - you'll hate it! (And when I mean documentary style - don't worry no scary Blair Witch style camera work!) Just a good "real life" take on viral epidemics and the human response. If you like the usual disaster/end of world cookie cutter fodder that Hollywood has been churning out for years don't watch this expecting to see the same. I enjoyed this - a refreshing change.

Yep - Anne Hathaway's English accent was somewhat varied. Probably a good movie for people who like sentimental but not schmaltzy movies. Not a chic lit cliche so don't expect the usual type of ending. However, I did get a bit bored well before the end - which is perhaps why the end confused me - don't want to ruin the movie by telling people why it confused me, but maybe it was just the fact that I'd lost interest by then. I can understand why some people love this movie, but it just wasn't for me.

Brilliant! I read the book first and still was not disappointed in the series - be warned though - it's addictive - hard to stop watching once you start! Beautifully made and acted :)

I agree with the reviews below - except could not even make it to the end. It was one of those monstrosities that made your feel annoyed that it had stolen a small portion of your life that you could not get back. Sounded like an interesting concept - don't be fooled. Would expect soooo much better from an Australian movie!
(Don't bother!) - review by Laura
Fairly predictable, but still an enjoyable enough "no-brainer" movie - good when you're feeling too sick to think (although I think some reviewer may BLAME this movie for making them sick! :)

Harmless bit of fun. Enjoyable enough.

Interesting movie. Feels a bit dated now but I enjoyed it.

Usual Twilight fodder - if you like Twilight you'll enjoy it - it's well made, looks good and is entertaining. If you're not sure if you like Twilight... well prepare for some teen angst... with vampires and werewolves.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Watched it for nostalgia's sake. Enjoyed it but felt a bit out of date now despite being a period drama.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Had to read this as one of my set books at school. Pretty dark. The movie was fairly good, but it's just one of those stories that makes you feel a bit uncomfortable - it's pretty obvious it is not going to end well!
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Good entertaining movie - worth a watch!
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Really enjoyed this movie. Good concept, had no idea how it was going to end! Jake Gylenhall is great in this.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Okay. Definitely not the finest piece of work of any of these actors.
(Maybe) - review by Laura
Not awful, but no more than okay. I think Nicolas Cage can really only play certain very defined roles and this wasn't one of them.

You're probably only going to watch this if you like the Ramones. Prepare for cheesy silliness. A bit of fun not to be taken seriously. Entertaining.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
I think you'd class this as an 'alternative' type of movie. I enjoyed it - some funny bits, some quite touching bits. Would probably fall into the same category as Little Miss Sunshine so if you liked that you'll probably like this too!
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
You have to be in a pretty stupid mood to watch this (maybe it would help if you had a few drinks). If you are not in a stupid mood or have had a few drinks you might want to prepare to cringe a lot at how embarrassing this movie is.

Good entertaining thriller. Worth a watch.

I'd heard so much hype about this movie it sort of put me off watching for ages. I'm glad I've watched it now as I really enjoyed it. Beautiful costumes and well done sets, good story line and well acted.

The usual Scream movie - if you liked all the others you'll probably enjoy this. Well done for a tongue in cheek horror movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
I'd heard this movie wasn't that great and was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of laughs - bit like a Hangover for girls.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Enjoyable... if a little sad at times.

Better than I was expecting having been convinced to watch this by someone. Entertaining, good fun.

Entertaining, but feel these movies are becoming a bit lacklustre compared with the first one.

Nice finale to the Harry Potter movie series. I enjoyed the others, especially the later movies and was not disappointed with the last movie.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
This movie is pretty brutal (hello medieval times). A bit like a medieval twist on the Seven Samurai. Probably counts as a 'boys' movie, but I'm not a boy and I really enjoyed it. Not one for the squeamish (or at least have a pillow to hide behind).
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Interesting concept for a movie. Not bad, not sorry I watched it, but wouldn't bother to rewatch.

Really enjoyed this movie - if you like the comic book genre of movies you'll probably love it. Made me look forward to the Avengers which also has Thor in it.

Good entertaining movie.

Not was I was expecting. Thought it would be really funny, but not really that many amusing moments for me. Was a bit bored.

A bit of a different idea, but I enjoyed this movie. Good entertainment.

As good as The Hangover. Yes very childish, filthy humor at times, but funny. If you liked the first one you'll like this too.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Good movie - along the lines of the old Spielberg "group of kids having an adventure" movies, but nicely updated with cool CGI effects
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Good entertaining movie. Not the best of the comic book transfers but definitely worth a watch if you like that genre.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Okay. A bit disappointing - I've heard the original is much better!

Odd. Very black humour - if you just fancy something really odd, black and different it's worth a view. Not something to write home about though!!!
(Don't bother!) - review by Laura
When I saw the trailer for this I almost didn't watch the movie - the trailer does it no favours! It's not amazing, but it's entertaining and not bad for a bit of a silly horror movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Good, entertaining fun as you would expect from Marvel Comic style movies. Watch it if you like movies like the X-men series.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Yes I know this has had award nominations and if you are an arthouse sort of person that likes movies that don't really seem to go anywhere then it's probably awesome, can't fault the cast. In all honesty I was bored though. I suspect just not my sort of movie.

This was actually better than I expected. Of course it's a silly movie - it does have Russell Brand in it! If you are in the mood for some light hearted humour it's worth a watch.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
This movie is typical British black humour. Pegg and Serkis are both fantastic (and quite horrid) and the supporting cast is great (surprise cameo by Ronnie Corbett - from the 2 Ronnies if you are old enough to remember that!) If you enjoy dark humour and aren't grossed out by body snatchers it's definitely worth a watch - good movie1
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I'm not a prude and I don't really mind bad language in movies in it's place, but this was pretty bad! My other half and I watched it with my parents in earshot (bearing in mind we're all adults) and we were actually both really quite embarrassed. It wasn't a terrible movie, but a bit disappointing - thought it would be much funnier.
(Maybe) - review by Laura
This movie has a 3.5 star rating? Really? It was okay... not awful, but surprised that it's got such a high rating! Not bad... not great...
(Maybe) - review by Laura
Good movie - amazing CGI!
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I can't believe this movie has the star rating it does. One of the worst movies I've seen in I can't remember how long! Just didn't find it particularly funny and couldn't have cared less what happened to any of the characters in it.
(Don't bother!) - review by Laura
Anna Faris and Chris Evans are great in this movie. Good fun, some laugh out loud moments and leaves you with a content feeling.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Good family fun... maybe a little too family, I enjoyed the movie but felt that it was missing just a little something I couldn't put my finger on. Definitely a bit of fun to sit back and relax with though.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
This was quite an odd movie. I really enjoyed it but felt the end was a bit flat - nevertheless I would probably watch it again and enjoy it.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie, but I really enjoyed it. It was a movie that really left it up to the audience to form an opinion on a controversial subject. The cast was great and the prosthetics on Kate Winslet were awesome (watch the special features - Winslet is really funny!)
(Excellent) - review by Laura
Same review for all the Tudor series. I loved this series - if you're a bit queazy about the odd bit of historical torture you may wish to grab a pillow to hide behind on the odd occasion. Fantastic, compelling series about one of the most dramatic (and in the later years insane) monarchs of all time! Oh and unsurprisingly there's quite a lot of bedroom activity - unsurprisingly for Henry VIII (just in case you decide to sit down and watch this with your Mum!) :)
(Excellent) - review by Laura
One of the best movies I've seen in a long long time. The three main actors - Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte are amazing - hard to pick one out of the three main actors, (but at a push it would have to be Tom Hardy as the younger brother). This is not just a movie about mixed martial arts - the storyline is compelling and moving without being schmaltzy. I love this movie!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Laura
If you like the Twilight series you'll really enjoy this. If you are an adult and not a big fan you may find the 'angsty' stuff drags on (and on), but apart from that it's a good, well made movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
Entertaining movie - bit similar to the whole King Arthur love triangle, but an entertaining no brainer to relax with nevertheless
(Worth watching) - review by Laura
This is a really interesting concept for a movie. Bitter sweet story, but kept me watching until the end. Good cast and well written (must read the book now!) It was slightly odd in places but it worked.
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I think I had unrealistic high hopes of this movie. The story is great but it was pretty poorly written. There were good elements and it was mildly enjoyable, but if Henry Cavill hadn't been flashing his torso every few minutes I would most likely have lost interest before the end. Shame has a good cast and looks pretty. Think it was the writers that let the whole thing down!
(Maybe) - review by Laura
This movie had the potential to be really good - the sets were nice, the visuals great, but the script was SHOCKING!!! It's actually been a really long time since I've seen a movie so cringingly bad script-wise! I actually enjoyed the movie in the sense that we spent a lot of it laughing at how bad it was and requesting the vomit bucket during the 'love' scenes. If you like bad movies that still provide you with a giggle give it a go - it's at least not boring!
(Don't bother!) - review by Laura
I really feel like I should have enjoyed this movie more. There were really good things about it - the actors were great - apart from initially really struggling to understand a word Jeff Bridges was saying; I thought the idea of the story was good, but it just seemed to be missing something and left me feeling really flat and dissatisfied. The movie also initially had quite a sense of humor about it and then later just became totally depressing and of a completely different character - I've tried reading into this to see if the writers/director were trying to make a point but I realised that I actually really don't care enough to analyse it. I wouldn't watch it again although I'm sure there are plenty of people who would really love it - I"m just not one of them!

A fun, silly movie with some slightly more serious bits, beautifully showcases the English countryside. I really enjoyed it - would rush out to buy my own copy, but would be happy to watch it again.

Great conclusion to the Millennium Trilogy, although I was a little sad it was the last one! The characters are fantastic and Noomi Rapace is just brilliant as Lisbeth Salander. I just wish I knew what happened to the characters after the movie ended...
(Excellent) - review by Laura
I enjoyed this movie. It's definitely not the stereotypical Matt Damon movie, but if you're after something a little different to the usual Hollywood blockbuster it's a good choice.
