Great interaction between the robot and Frank, and watching the relationship between the two develop. It is a simple story. Funny, but not laugh out funny.

Just watched volume 1. This is a rather vague DVD. Lots of propaganda about the Navy. They talk about the peacekeeping role of the Navy but they do not give examples. They go from point to point frequently and without exploring the points. There is nothing explored in detail.
Better value elsewhere.

This is nowhere near as good as other movies about mega construction work.. It does not discuss the technology involved. It only shows the issues they find on a day to day basis and the fact that they fixed these issues.

A couple of brainless idiots showing how stupid they are. How did they ever get to be police officers?

DVD 5 is a bit of a waste. There is a 30 minute special feature on the making of. That is good, but not long enough. The only other thing on the DVD is some information on famous people and the history of the moon. This is in writing, it is not a movie.
DVDs 1-4 are very good.

Very slow in parts, as are most movies of that era. It is still entertaining.

Disc 3 is not really "special features" as in "the making of" or "interviews with the cast and others" What it is is 3 hours about cells in animals and plants. How they were discovered and other history. The only relationship between the first two discs and this one is that they all discuss the history of science.

This DVD is 2 hours 56 minutes long. It includes 3 episodes plus after each episode the making of. The later is a good watch in itself as it shows what risks they took and puts everything in context. Narrated by David Attenborough.

Good points
Did give lots of good information about the raid, such as the difficulties faced by the pilots.
The end of the DVD gives the reasons why this raid can be regarded as a success.
Bad points
Pity this was only about 50 minutes long. It had excerpts from the movie, but did not say these were excerpts and not reality.
Other
Good idea to watch this DVD after watching the movie. The DVD assumes you know the basic facts about the raid.

One person's opinion on scientific history. Six episodes each almost an hour long on two DVDs.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
This movie is a very slow movie. Takes ages for anything to happen. Should have been made a 90 minute movie, not a 2.5 hour one.
It has major weaknesses. For example the real reason for the raid is not valid. Is the General that was captured a real General or a fake? Or the heroes shoot and kill heaps of enemy and yet do not get hit themselves?
Also Mythbusters have shown that several things that were in the movie do not happen. Not that you need Mythbusters to tell you that.
Put your brain to bed and enjoy the action and explosions. Because that is all what the movie has to offer.

This is a DVD narrated by David Attenborough. Not sure it was 300 minutes, but it was well over 90 minutes!
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This movie is only 60 minutes long, not 88 minutes. It gives an overview of the King and Queen's life. Yes it does mention the stammer. It does not mention how or even if it was treated. Nothing in depth, nothing new. Just what you would expect from a once off decent TV documentary.
(Worth watching) - review by Robert
So much wasted potential. Could have explored so many possibilities. However it never really did any of them. For example noone went to work as the streets were shown to be deserted, but society did not collapse. Who supplied the water, the electricity and the sewage treatments in order for people to stay at home? Not to mention the food.

This movie is almost three hours long. Not 100 minutes. It helps if you have a basic understanding of Darwin and Evolution. It explains what the impact, uses and abuses of the theory of evolution has been since Darwin published his book. Look out for references to David Attenborough.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
These two episodes are only an hour each. They should have combined the two DVDs into one DVD. Still worth a watch for all fans of the show.

Another high quality production narrated by David Attenborough. You also see him in some episodes. They would have had camera's on some of the animals. There is nothing else like it. Some of this stuff may be a few years old, but it does not date.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
Many 1970s British comedies are dated and no longer funny. Dave Allan is not dated and is still funny. Not very PC but that is a sign of the times. Does not depend on stupidity to make laughs.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This is only 45 minutes long, not 213 mins. There is only one DVD. What there is, is good.

This is a rather slow movie that shows the live people lived in prison. Or at least Hollywood's version of it. But it is worth a watch. No mention of drugs, sex. Very little violence.
(Worth watching) - review by Robert
One problem with the first DVD is that it is less than one hour long. Other than that it was a great DVD.
(Worth watching) - review by Robert
Do not miss the special feature in disc 4. It discusses the real James Harriet, the author of the books.
This DVD is one of the better all creatures Great and small DVDs. Shows all characters are being reasonable real people, with some great stories.

Typical Patrick Troughton Dr Who adventure. See the cheap plastic costumes. The very simple stories. See the doctor being placed in mortal danger at the end of at least one episode.
Civilization completely dependant on t-mat? I think that unlikely. Otherwise leave your brain in another room while you sit back and enjoy the DVD.
(Worth watching) - review by Robert
What everyone else said. Also this movie is a send up of other movies. 'Top Gun' is obvious, but you also have 'dances with wolves' plus others.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
These two DVDs have one of the better Patrick Troughton adventures. The extra where they talk about this adventure and the consequences of it is also very interesting.
All four episodes on the 2nd DVD are the original and none are animation.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
This is a rather slow movie. Its main thing it shows are the relationships that develop between the characters. Not sure why this has a M rating. The one sex scene both people are fully clothed. No violence. The plot is very simple.

A great doctor who. Just a few points that may not be obvious
This is a real doctor who adventure that was made in the 1960s. Two episodes were lost. They have been replaced by animation (cartoons). The sound is from fans who recorded it from tape. This has probably not been on ABC TV since the 1970s.
Very good cliff hanger at the end of disc 1.
Disc 2 contain the last four episodes of the adventure. I think this is one of the better doctor who adventures of the era.

The overview is misleading. If you are after a how to make some good recipes then this is not a DVD for you. If you are after a reality show then this is for you. The story is that the chef spends 12 months in France developing his relationship with his wife and six children. He trains them to like his cooking rather than junk food. That is episode 1. The rest of the first DVD is him with his wife and children return to the UK where they need to find a small (seating about 60 people) restaurant. Then it needs renovating. Lots of human drama.
There are some recipe 'cards' in pdf format. You can get them by putting the DVD in your computer.

This movie is almost a comedy. It has several funny moments in it. Also imagine if Germany in 1943 did things the way the British did things. Then you get this movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Robert
This DVD series is unusual in that it is talking about the planet Earth, rather than plants and animals. Otherwise it is done in the same style and quality that you can expect from David Attenborough.

Did not find the lack of sub titles bad. After all if you were in Kevin Costner's position you would have heard the words and not understood them. If Kevin was not in the scene then there were sub titles (I think).
The movie in the cinemas was much longer (3.5 hours?). Would have been great to have the uncut version. And other reviewers said it was too long. Laugh Out Loud.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This was a great movie. Many old movies are very slow. This is an exception in that it is a reasonable pace.
Remember this is war time. The Japanese would have used most of their good men elsewhere. So it would not take much to make a mistake about the position of the bridge.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This is a fun movie. Not just for kids, but for adults as well. I could relate easily to the old man, who just wanted to be left alone.
Look out for the star wars references.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This movie is rubbish. The twin towers came down because of two large aircraft, full of fuel, hitting them. Plenty of witnesses to this fact. No need for explosives. When were the explosives put there? After the planes hit? They only have a few hours to do everything in a burning building. Was it placed when it was constructed? Would have to be there for years without anyone knowing and then survive extreme heat. Then you need a method of detonating the explosives.
(Don't bother!) - review by Robert
I am going to be in the minority here and suggest that you get your information about WW2 elsewhere. The DVD gives detailed facts and specifications about aircraft that would be more suitable in a reference book. There was no mention of Ultra (the breaking of the German codes) that had a significant impact on the battle of Britain.

It was a very good series. However this DVD did disappoint. It was far too short at 50 minutes. It was about the making of... Nothing more. He spent 3? years making this series and all what he can say about this time was in 50 minutes which included excerpts of the series. He did a few interviews with the experts that helped him. This included scenes showing what they did. There was not much more than that.
What about what lead up to the series or what followed? The new technology used? What did David think of the series?
(Excellent) - review by Robert
This series may be old but it has not dated. Anyone interested in science should watch this series. It gives a broad view of science not done before or since.
The last DVD has only one episode on it but there is an extra. David A. (Life on Earth) talking about the show's history for 15 minutes. Watch that first.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
Bonus points for this movie being a romance and not a comedy. It is also an adventure story.
It has a good plot, with lots of magic scenes.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Robert
The first DVD only had two full episodes (2 times 25 minutes) on them. The two episodes were about the crusades and King Richard. They also had 2 audio episodes from the same adventure. The rest of the DVD was only a minute or so of each episode from different adventures, often without sound. These include the 'The dalek's master plan.'

I agree about the movie being a good action movie with plenty of stars. However there are far too many things that are silly happen in the movie. Like the fire is initially on the 69th floor, so what are the fire fighters going into the building with fire hoses unwrapped to fight it on the first floor for? Then later there hoses scattered all over the road and a car is seen driving over them. Or an explosion in the ?fire stairs which caused serious damage to the stairs yet did not injure three people nearby. What was burning in the fire stairs anyway? Concrete? The list of such errors goes on and on.

Slow, ordinary start. However after the wedding (about half way though) the movie gets more and more emotional and very good. Towards the end the emotional level is in overdrive. If you have a problem from being unable to cry then this movie will fix that.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
The extras where they come back and talk about what happened 20 years ago is very interesting. The other extras are not worth much. As for the TV itself , it is typical Dr Who. Just do not take it too seriously and it is great fun.
(Excellent) - review by Robert
A typical simple, yet (for its day) fast paced Dr Who story line. That is the great strength of the adventure.
The technical side is so bad it is funny. The Daleks appeared to be shaking when they moved over ground. Some of the outdoor scenes were obviously shot in the studio.
One thing I never did understand. How come the Daleks were always defeated, yet were always returning stronger than ever? I guess questions like this are not allowed.
