Excellent movie - it was done very well. And William H Macy as the priest was excellent too.

Interesting doco about the Beatles and George in particular. Did jump around a bit, especially at the beginning.

Another excellent Studio Ghibli movie.

An older Don Adam with all the old gags. A few laughs and predictable outcomes. Was ok.

Nice movie.

Was ok.

Quite funny though very predictable. My teenagers enjoyed it. An extra star for the fabulous Blue Mountains scenery.

Nice family movie with spectacular scenery. Bit silly in parts but then aren't many kids' movies?
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
A bit of Aussie fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
No comedy in this one and none of the characters are likeable. The best part was the little twist near the end.

Quite good except the disc we had stopped and started all the way through which made it a bit hard to follow at times.

Lovely teen growing up story.

Second time seeing it - enjoyed it just as much.

Really interesting - what an amazing man. I'm not a huge horse lover but did enjoy this.

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. For a serious subject, there are a lot of laughs.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Wonderful! My husband especially enjoyed it.

Quite enjoyable - I got quite a few laughs out of it. George Takei was great as the economics professor. The beginning where Larry looses his job is not an uncommon thing in the States I believe which is very sad. Just wouldn't happen in Australia.

An enjoyable family movie based on a real story.

Being a Sydney girl, I found this film very interesting, especially as I remember seeing Eternity written when I was a child in the 1960s. Before this movie, I didn't know too much about Arthur Stace. Being an operetta, it is rather unusual but worth watching if you are interested in his story. It shows some of the lovely old suburbs of inner city Sydney and the harbour. It is obviously loosely based on the true story as I read afterwards he had a wife but she isn't mentioned in the movie. Great make-up with the aging process.

A lot of fun! Basically followed the book except for the airships! Good action, great costumes and scenery. Our teenage daughter enjoyed it too.

Having just visited Vietnam I quite enjoyed this movie. It is interesting that a lot of the traditions can still be seen. It is very art house.

My 15 yo daughter's favourite movie (and book/s - she's not a reader normally). My partner and I enjoyed it too. Excellent acting.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Janette
A great movie based on true events. Excellent acting by all.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Janette
Not too bad. Bit slow and confusing for the first half (as others have said - Americans would get it more than Aussies) but did improve. Some great acting from a lot of great actors.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
Quite different to similar anime in that the female is not the heroin. Interesting look at teenage life.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
Excellent movie - humour and sadness.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Janette
Enjoyable quirky English movie.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
A lovely anime about a 27 yo woman remembering herself as a 10 yo and making decisions on what she wants in life. Probably not so interesting for young children. Also, it is subtitled. Bit slow at times but a lovely ending. Like most Studio Ghibli films, it has environmental issues, this time about organic farming and getting away from the rat-race of the city.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
Our whole family loved it - even the teenagers! Loved the many cameos and Bret McKenzie's songs too.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Fun chick flick. Even my husband enjoyed it.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Excellent documentary with a mixture of interviews in 1992 of people who were involved at the time (lawyers, prison warders, journalists, priest, family etc) and actors (including Colin Friels as Ryan) playing flashbacks. Really did leave you wondering.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Too over the top for me. First one much better. Did enjoy the interaction between Johnson and Caine. They looked like they had fun making the moving.
(Maybe) - review by Janette
A quirky and interesting take on depression. Not the sort of character I would have expected Mel Gibson in but he does a great job, as does the rest of the cast. Quite emotional at times too.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Great story, fabulous scenery.

My 12yo daughter watched this. She said it was quite good. Probably of more interest to boys.

Totally agree with joffa. The story is very similar to the movie The Borrowers.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
A sweet movie. The ending was sudden but didn't need to be longer.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
Enjoyable movie with a realistic mood of the 1970s. Only problem was that the subtitles were often hard to read and too fast which meant I spent most of my time reading the screen rather than looking at the wonderful characters.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
If you know an Italian Mamma or Nonna, you can relate to this movie, so I found it quite funny in parts because of this. Otherwise, not much going for it.

Excellent period drama, in three parts. So about 3 hours altogether.

Another very good anime. Being a cat owner, we especially enjoyed it.

Interesting look into indigenous issues. An Australian version of NZ's Once were Warriors, but with a happier ending. A bit slow at first and a lot of jumping to and from Perth and the Kimberley. Fantastic landscape scenes, excellent acting and really enjoyed the music.

Happy, sad and an interesting time in Czech history. And such a cute little boy - great acting by all.

Great movie with excellent acting by two new actors (at the time). What an amazing true story. One of the girls wrote a diary, so it all happened!

Watched with my 12yo daughter who loved the cute parts like the Nutcracker and Sorcerer's Apprentice. A bit long though.

Lot of suspense and a good finish to the trilogy.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
Great animation of a little know (by most Australians) piece of modern history. It would have been good to be a bit longer but then it is a short film by a student (his first?)
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
This is a really nice quirky NZ movie. There were a lot of laugh out loud moments and the end is brilliant, especially featuring John Rowles singing. The parents in the movie are based on real-life parents of the movie's writer.

A bit of a fun teen movie which a message.

Very funny family movie. My early teenage daughters enjoyed it just as much as my husband and I.

Interesting to see the story of Robin Hood before he became an outlaw. A few odd bits such as Marion fighting and the orphaned boys with their masks but entertaining none-the-less.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
My teenage daughters really enjoyed it though were disappointed with the end, as there's obviously going to be sequels and they wanted to know the complete ending in this one movie.

Fairly silly story but good surfing and scenery shots of South Africa. Teenage girls may enjoy.

Bit slow at the beginning and had trouble understanding the pub conversation - they talked very fast - but was a very interesting movie and well worth watching.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
My teenage daughters have been enjoying these. I've watched a couple of episodes and enjoyed more than I expected. Music is fabulous. Coach Sue - what a horrible character!
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
An interesting movie though almost more on her love life than the flying. It's worth watching the deleted scenes as they tell you she was engaged to be married and what sort of work she was in before flying and about George's first wife. These filled out the story a bit more and would have been good in the movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
A great 50s musical. Dancing is amazing, especially in the barn raising scene. Great singing too. Main negative is the background scenery - very cheap. I read that the budget was dropped - you can tell.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
A bit slow to start but an interesting and inspiring story.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
A enjoyable movie and the girl was fabulous. What brought down the rating for me was that I could only understand half of what Jeff Bridges was saying because of his mumbling. That was the type of character he was playing but disappointing. Mind you, it didn't seem to affect understanding the movie.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
Good action movie. The whole family enjoyed it.

An interesting story of an unusual family. Especially interesting for New Zealanders.

Good action family movie and Dwayne Johnson is great, as usual. Ending was a bit too emotional and we also had trouble with the DVD stopping and starting in the middle but it didn't affect the story-line.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
I had forgotten I'd seen it previously (when it first came out), so obviously didn't leave a big impression but I did enjoy seeing it again.

I'd seen a review of this movie a couple of years ago and was keen to see it. Mixed feelings though. It was a bit slow yet quite interesting especially seeing the life of "Cindy" and her family. If you have an interest in China, it's worth watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
A bit slow but did enjoy the music and seeing some well known actors singing. And I'm not really a country fan.
(Worth watching) - review by Janette
I thought it was only ok but my teenage daughters loved it. The younger one had seen it at the movies and was keen to see it again. Some nice scenery of what looks like the Blue Mtns.

I'm not a car fan but do like Eric Bana. So enjoyed seeing the real Eric and a part of Aussie life I know nothing about, ie car rallies and working on cars.
(Excellent) - review by Janette
My daughters and I recently read the book, so were interested in seeing the movie. It started off similarly but there are a few differences, mainly to fit into a standard movie length I presume. I thought the Wilberforces were as I would have imagined them from the book, so thought the effects ok. Has nice views of Auckland if you're interested.
