Astonishing yet much mistunderstood science fiction classic by Steven Spielberg. Here we see the future of robotics - our future - unfolding into darkness, tinged by a young child's unrelenting love for his mother. Developed from a treatment by Stanley Kubrick, who got the idea from a short story by Brian Aldiss.

Genuinely funny, great voice work from the entire cast, especially the wonderful Joan Cusack as Jessie the Cowgirl.
Pixar in America and Hayao Miyazaki in Japan are reinventing animated movies, one frame at a time.

Many of the usual SciFi TV cliches, all the dumb not-thought-through ideas, yet the acting is solid and the drama interesting to watch. It's a darn sight better than the original series.
Most importantly, this series is a big step forwards in the way space battles are depicted, the special effects team taking their cues from Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down to create an immersive combat experience instead of the typical clean battles of Star Trek and its many clones.
