Being an avid Hitchcock fan, I utterly enjoyed this film and highly recommend seeing. Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren are fantastic actors, and a joy to watch on screen. Director Sacha Gervasi (The Terminal) does a wonderful job telling this incredible story and the hardships endured of one of Hollywood's Best Directors.

A good script with intriguing play of prejudice, genuine feelings and deceit against a tragic background. Lore is going beyond the regular holocaust movie not only because showing the German side but also playing with the expectations of the viewers. What is lacking though is a bigger budget for this historical movie. Too little extras mostly: Two US soldiers cannot represent a large army. More than a small railway station could not be rented as a building. There are no pictures of bombed cities. The nature shots are great but are eternal and don't give the right historical and geographical feel. Lore feels like a play to me lacking cinematographic historical scenery.
It is a nice movie, really nice. But just nice, nothing more. The film has a light, but thoughtful tone. The fantasy-story is told in an immaculate way. Picture, colors, characters, all fit in just perfect. But the overall result is just that bit too slick to make you care.
Emotionally the main character is more or less remote. Yes, he shows some grieve about loosing his family. And he is in despair, at times. But only to an easily bearable extend. If the audience would be confronted with the full force of his emotions, the story would not be nice or lovely after all. The same happens intellectually. A portion of the film deals with man, god, believe. And yes, the main character has a lot of reason to doubt god. But again, this doubt is not going too far. It just scratches the issue, so everything remains easy. Nothing too serious here. So it has hardly any meaning. Life of Pi is nice to watch, but do not expect something with real substance.

I've never read the book or seen the stage show of Les Miserables, but I have seen the movie of the same name starring Liam Neeson. That was mediocre at best, despite a good cast, but I thought I should give the musical a go, on the basis that the songs would add something to the story.
Instead it has left me wondering what it is that others see in this tedious and relentlessly depressing story – and also why the score has been such a huge hit, given that there isn't a single decent or memorable song in the whole production.

The films is definitely not for kids or the squeamish as there is a decent amount of violence that, despite often being used for comedic effect, is mildly unsettling. The only really standout feature of this film is Sam Rockwell. His character is consistently funny and saves this film from being a complete borefest. Nevertheless, Seven Psychopaths is an enjoyable and funny film that, despite its attempts at being more than a crime-comedy, is nothing more than a simple crime-comedy. If you plan on watching this film do not watch In Bruges first, it will make this film a very mediocre experience at best.

Enjoyable, low-key and easy-going until the big reveal toward the end. Won't say more here (you'll know what I mean if you see it,) but it completely upset the fragile balance maintained throughout most of the film. Completely inconsistent with the characters up till then, and introduced holes big enough to pilot the Queen Mary through. Yanked me right out of the story, and the only reason I could see for it was to ratchet up the Kleenex factor.
Langella was excellent, though - subtle and underplayed. Remarked to my wife on the way home that it would have been a disaster in the hands of a showier actor - Ex-jewel thief! Irascible old man! Incipient Alzheimers/dementia!. If they'd cast Pacino, there wouldn't have been an unmasticated stick of scenery left.
First of all I decided to watch this film as part of the 2013 best actor/supporting actor category and well I got what I came for. Joaquin Phoenix's performance is breathtaking, and probably his best yet. From the moment I was introduced to his character I was blown away at how he had immersed himself completely in the deranged vessel of Freddie Quell. Philip Seymour Hoffman once again gives an Oscar worthy performance as ''The Master'',the leader of a mysterious globe trotting cult, who takes Freddie under his wing.
The film as a whole though is weak at the hinges,a two and a half hour film that many will feel could have been cut down to two hours. The overall theme is understandably bleak and depressing but one would feel that the odd light hearted moment would not have gone amiss.
My final verdict is: If you are a fan of powerful acting or have a passing interest in the profession, then you will be enthralled by the two main performers in this picture. If you are the average movie goer then this is probably one to avoid.

Here we go again...Another one of those well casted/all star cast that did not pull through as you would expect! The big bad wolf is back! No, not Brad Pitt or Ray Liotta but the feared New Jersey mob boss, Tony Soprano. James Gandolfini's addition was the cherry on top. Although this was well acted - it was poorly written. A story about a bad ass guy (Pitt) with no fear goes up against NO competition. Where is the excitement in that? Where did the struggle to win this game, go? Besides bullets flying in slow motion and Pitt's strong monologue at the end worth saluting...this movie literally had me say "ehh". Not TOO terrible but at the same time, let' re-write this thing and take it from the top. Hey David Chase!! Can you help these guys out a little?

This is one of those movies with enough development in the script and the characters it would have been something. It isn't a bad movie but it had potential to be even better. The movie just seemed to lack some depth in some areas, it had a decent direction though. And it was engaging to see the three brothers who are bootleggers during the prohibition work together.

This film is about a young struggling writer who makes it big with a manuscript that he did not write.
"The Words" tells the tale of a struggling writer who has to face moral choices after stealing a manuscript. Bradley Cooper carries the role well, and he portrays the internal struggle very well. It is a welcomed change that Bradley Cooper portrays a serious and emotionally tormented role. The scene of his attempt to rectify things in the greenhouse is haunting. Zoe Saldana shines as well as the supportive wife, her plethora of emotions is so natural and convincing. They make a good on screen couple. The Bradley Cooper subplot is quite predictable, but the connection between Bradley Cooper and Dennis Quaid is not immediately apparent. This extra layer gives "The Words" more depth. I think "The Words" has many fine performances, and deserves to be seen.

This is a pretty good movie: good characters, good performances and an intriguing premise and story. I like the way the subplots parallel the main plot thematically. But for me, outside of some snappy visual effects, it had a very weak ending. It didn't quite make sense to me.

What it is, is just a very run-of-the-mill costume drama, with a predictable climax. The characters are either good or bad. Any and all opportunity of showing inner struggle, for example how Struensee wanted to do good, but ended up grabbing power for himself, is lost. The forbidden romance is simply justified here. The only character to encompass both good and bad is the king himself, swinging from rudeness and lewdness to being adorably naive and brave. It's such a shame that the movie could not have been about him.
All in all, the movie is wholly unremarkable as far as the story goes, which is really disappointing when you think of the actual story this is based on. I can't help but think: Is this really all they could get from this?
This thing is a snoozer. You'd hear more interesting dialogue in your local dive bar, at least up to the point I ejected the DVD. If you have patience, you may arrive at a point where the film becomes interesting. Let me know at which minute that occurs so that I can skip to it. The language is, I assume, Turkish which is no problem as most American viewers are fluent in that language as were judges at the Cannes (France) film hootenanny. There was one fascinating discussion in a police car about buffalo yogurt that I would've hated to have missed. English subtitles - maybe it was a terrific discussion in Turkish. But, still, yogurt? You can tell if you are watching an artsy film...each scene is interminable, camera scans slow. My cat is dying slowly, but more interesting to watch than this movie. Sadder, too.

The tension throughout ARGO is extremely close to excruciating. The scenes of fanatical mobs on the streets of Tehran (Istanbul stands in very believably) are seriously scary. A shot of a man hanged from a crane reminds us of the fate that would have awaited the six escapees hiding in the Canadian residency - and their 52 embassy colleagues who were held hostage for a year and a half. The Washington scenes have the frenetic bustle and urgency of TV's WEST WING.
The drama goes slightly over-the-top in the final scenes at Tehran airport, with some DIE HARD moments that threaten to undermine the story's credibility. Overall though, with excellent performances, a taut script, and direction (by Affleck) that gives the flavour of a documentary, this is a nail-biter of a movie.

Frankenweenie is a weird movie and really is a disappointment to animated films. Some scenes of the movie are very good but most part of it just a waste. This movie could have been better if directed by Gore Verbinski or not-Tim Burton. From starting to end movie was just nothing but not also full waste of time. It's animation is also horrible, in times like these even video games has better visuals than this movie. Nothing is extraordinary about this movie and nothing is too bad about this movie but I expected something better from Tim Burton, not this c**p. I just wish that movie do not get any sequel or any prequel. It looks something similar to the movie Paranorman, while not comparing to Paranorman movie is not too good as I expected it should be.
Loutish, unfunny and relatively tedious comedy thriller that is devoid of both comedy and thrills. You won't laugh, you won't smile and you probably will not ever be on the edge of your seat. It is relentlessly thick-eared, flat and monotone. The cast are tedious and plastic, lacking anything approaching personality and depth. The chases are bland, uninvolving and unspectacular and the plot is little more than a clichéd drone of cobbled together circumstances.

The premise is interesting - a blocked author writes about a woman and his creation comes to life as his girlfriend. Unfortunately it's not well done and the dialog is stilted, the situations are painful strained and obvious. Writer and star Zoe Kazan isn't polished enough a writer or appealing enough an actress to pull this one off.
The main actors are of course unattractive. Paul Dano just looks terrible. Zoe Kazan shows she hasn't quite got the comic timing or physical appeal to lead a romantic comedy.
Annette Benning and Antonio Banderas are out of place in their small roles. They are above this kind of silly stuff.
It might have worked if better writers and a slightly more endearing cast had been involved. Woody Allen or the Farrelly Brothers could have done a much better job with the idea.
The movie is better than so many routine action films.although the film was a super hit,it should deserve more.Like i said,it is better than regular action films. The movie contains a great soul with a meaning in it.Many of the dangerous creatures we think dangerous aren't as dangerous as we think.the too have feelings. And the quote " I wouldn't kill him because he looked as frightened as I was. I looked at him and I saw myself" was really, really great. The story was great and the direction was good.Back ground score was amazing. And the film was visually spectacular.HICCUP is the best VIKING ever. Two thumbs up for him and the film

The Sapphires is about four Aboriginal girls who get a chance at the end of the Sixties to go entertain the troops as a singing group in Vietnam. The film is one of those sneaky ones - not brilliantly made, or brilliantly acted - but it really does entertain - and isn't that the point?
Full of great soul music, some good laughs, some nods towards the Rights struggle, The Sapphires is above all big hearted and is always refreshingly straight forward about its objectives. It is, however, a huge plus in that it does have a positive message and a wonderfully different take from the usual patronising view of Aboriginal life.
If you like music movies like The Commitments you will enjoy this

This is about a rich and successful investment company head who has committed some errors that would jeopardise his career and life.
"arbitrage" has an interesting story because there are two parallel stories that the main character has to go through. Yes, the rich and successful guy has committed not one but two mistakes, and he has to work very hard to make things right. There us much suspense throughout the film. There are many times when it looks like his mistakes could not be rectified. It is very engaging and thrilling to watch.
The performance by Richard Gere us very good, he portrays the confident business tycoon look, the scared crook look and the frustrated man look brilliantly. I enjoyed watching this film a lot.

Al Pacino gives an absolutely superb, riveting performance in this 2010 HBO production of the biography of Jack Kevorkian.
While the subject matter is difficult to swallow, especially when the assisted suicides begin, the film is done is an exceptionally intelligent matter that focuses on what Kevorkian is attempting to do in his role as an angel of mercy to assist those suffering with terminal illnesses. Susan Sarandon is excellent in the role of Pacino's aide who falls victim to a terminal illness. Brenda Vaccaro is equally good as Pacino's sister, a woman who believed in what he was doing but didn't have the sense to call a doctor when she was suffering a heart attack.

I had high expectations on the movie being a big fan of sci-fi genre. It started pretty well setting expectations high, then follows a series of mediocre actor's play, copy-paste from other movies - Terminator/Signs style and such (missing the originality). The movie lacks charm and feels like multiple pieces put together - dialogs feel to be taken from elsewhere (other movies), character's act in a extremely foreseeable way, like you know what they are going to say or do. There are movies with lower quality of play and direction so this one i would put as mediocre. I personally wondered whether to stop it and watch something else couple of times. If you have no special demand for quality, fun and original movie that would bring you pleasure from watching - you can try to watch this one.
The story of a man befriended on Facebook by someone posing under a fake identity sounds as if it should be a story of our times. But there are problems with 'Catfish', not least because the story is filmed as it happens, the victim is the brother of the film-maker, and so one can't entirely trust that his own behaviour is entirely genuine, or at least, uninfluenced by his desire to produce material for his brother. Indeed, the whole film has a sort of student-project feel to it, and the eventual truth is sad and predictable, not particularly interesting, and there's a kind of uneasy sympathy for the perpetrator, who is treated gently but of course, also very publicly exposed. There's no real questioning, on the other hand, of the motives of those on the other side. There must be better stories lurking on the internet than this one.
Cyril will do anything to find his dad, running away from his state-run orphanage, lie, fight, anything, despite mounting evidence that his father wants nothing to do with him. He meets Samantha, a hairdresser who agrees to take him in on weekends while he searches for his dad.
The directors do a good job of showing Cyril's disintegration as he realizes his dad wants no part of him, but this all happens within the first half of the film. I found the latter half where Cyril is seduced into a local gang and then commits a crime to be less engaging, and the ending, though hopeful, seems a bit off. Also, I wish the film had spent more time on why Samantha wants so badly to help Cyril.
Overall pretty good

Based on a true story usually means inspired by a true story with countless dramatic liberties taken which is, I suspect, the case here.
The Germans are portrayed as stoic, disciplined and respectful which is refreshing whilst the Brits on the other hand are merely cartoons. "Davenport" acts like he's channeling Hugh Grant throughout whilst Rupert Grint is saddled with playing the arrogant, working-class oik. I just cannot believe either of them would behave so arrogantly when confronted by a potentially deadly situation.
Nevertheless, the gradual evolution of their acceptance, understanding of one another and friendship is what makes the film a pleasure to watch.

This is a Ridley Scott movie, so if you watch it and I hope you do, and then it seems all to familiar, that is because it is an "Alien" clone right down to the female heroine. I found this movie to be a very pleasant surprise, it's an edge of your seat, nail biting action packed sci-fi thriller that has the story, acting, direction, and special effects to make this a top notch entertaining sci-fi film. There are several reviews on this site that you can sift through, but I'll just cut to the chase, this is an excellent movie well worth owning and watching. While there may be many unanswered questions with this movie, I'm hopeful that a sequel is in the offing.

Not on par with Rushmore/Darjeeling Limited/Life Aquatic at all. Nothing really funny in it or particularly dramatic (the ending was a bit corny), all of his other movies had some really clever subtle humour. There just didn't seem to be much going on. Underdeveloped plots like Frances McDormand cheating on Bill Murray with Bruce Willis, I feel more could have been done with that but ultimately not much happened. Some of the darkness from his earlier films could have worked great there. Edward Norton's character had potential as well but he ultimately did not have much to do. The writing just came off as lazy.
The dialog between the two kids I couldn't buy either. I know Wes has his own unique dialog and tone, which is why I love all of his other movies, but it just didn't work with 12 year olds. None of it was particularly sharp either. There just wasn't enough going on. There was a particular shot of the two kids looking at each other on the beach that felt like hipster bait. One positive I will say is the kids had some sweet moments and did have chemistry. Anyways, I hope others enjoyed this more than I did.
"The Last Picture Show" is a real character movie that is driven by its actors and subtle directing from Peter Bogdanovich. There isn't a real plot in terms of having a beginning, middle and ending. It more is a character observation of several different persons who are all forced to make several decisions and all have in common that they all live in the same small Texan town, in which they can basically only fall back on the run-down pool hall and cinema. By the time the pool hall is closed and at the cinema the last picture is shown (hench the title), all the characters have to make the choices what to do with the rest of their lives.

The plot seemed simple enough, a marriage in trouble, but when you have Streep and Jones you expect a treat and they did not disappoint at all. The scenes where they are sitting with the therapist you can cut the tension with a knife. You expect Streep to be brilliant and she is, but Jones more than holds his own. It is difficult to play a man who is unable to be vulnerable and he truly excelled.

Great to see Mel Gibson in fine shape. He delivers a good performance and shows us that he still has what it takes. The other is the general feel of the movie. The camera work, the way we get to experience the prison and the persons in it. All in all, an hour and a half of good entertainment.

Nolan stands true to his word. It is an EPIC conclusion to the Batman trilogy. it is worthy of multiple viewings and I would suggest an IMAX viewing if possible. The scenes, the canvas are breathtaking. So are all the action scenes and of course Mr.Zimmer on the keyboard. The soundtrack fits right into the scenes and enhances the visual experience. The newly added star cast further adds to that experience and fit right into the master puzzle that Nolan has created while his old allies ensure that the movies moral compass is pointed in the right direction. The movie justifies its length of 165 mins and you won't realise how fast they went.

Sasha Cohen is old news. The movie had a cheap comedy. If you will laugh at anything then its not bad. I rather go to sleep. The movie has no sense of direction. The actors are C- storyline is weak There are some funny line here and there. Borat was excellent, however this was disappointment.
I forced myself to sit through 2 hours of flashbacks which were hard to separate from non flashbacks hoping to get an explanation... Perhaps an ending. I got neither....and that was an excruciating two hours. I understand the psychological trauma of abuse and I know this is what the movie revolved around but I did not feel it had a plot even...and definitely no conclusion. It just is not the psychological thriller it was purported to be. It is not a thriller. I can say I hope to see Elizabeth Olsen in a different movie. I think she does have talent and is the reason I didn't just turn it off in the first 15 minutes.

What could have been a great uplifting film turned out to be a waste of time. I love animal films - but I found this one boring, poorly acted, and unrealistic! They are in below 0 weather and everyone looked immaculate throughout the film. At least in The Grey they had icicles on their face and chapped lips! The actors seemed lost in the film, not knowing whether it was a comedy or drama. It was based on a true story and novel, but for me it didn't translate well on screen at all. The best parts were the beautiful shots of the whales. If the film spent more time focusing on the whales and trying to get their point of view, the film may have turned out differently. Instead, it was mostly people standing around a hole of ice with virtually no plot.
It's mildly entertaining but pretty standard fare. The characters are okay but you've met them all before, except the Dottie character who is the only one with any depth.
There's gratuitous female nudity, violence and sexual violence and not in a good way. I've nothing against these things but in this film, they're very obviously there for the thrill/shock - they add nothing to the art or story.
The story itself is standard so the film is relying on everything else and it fails to deliver.
Absolutely fantastic, one of the best comedy movies ever! Yes it was vulgar, very dirty humour and features drug use but what do you expect, you should expect this if you've ever seen Family Guy. Obviously this isn't for the Tea Party crowd!
Prepare yourself for politically incorrect jokes. There are some pretty funny cameo appearances as well.
I loved it

Yes nicely made with filming and cast all that but absolutely awful film With all the rest no logic no sense and disturbing , the writer must have tried so hard not to shoot himself making this make believe end of the world but seemingly wannabe we can do better even if we lost something original concept. Concept is dreadful and there is no moral of this story. Just very bad if you hate life go watch it.

An elite team of Navy SEALs embark on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent. Act of Valour set out to create a film with 100% authentic and realistic action sequences and promote the lives of US Navy Seals. In that aspect it succeeded, however, failed everywhere else.
The advertisement of using real navy seals as the main characters creates a level of military authenticity and accuracy that I have not seen in a film for a long time. All equipment and vehicles used are used correctly whilst dialogue and radio chatter inside of combat shows detail that inexperienced eyes might miss.
However, acting is not something these Seals train for at basic! Dialogue outside of combat is weak at best and any scene trying to get some form of emotion out of the audience is lost as soon as one opens their mouth. Not many good things can be said about the story line. A rather unimaginative plot coupled with the stereotypical 'bad guy' does little but create a backdrop for the numerous fire fights and special forces insertions.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I thought this was going to be another chick flick with a guy flirting with a girl but I found it was an amazing love story that spans 2 decades and gives a glimpse of what true love could really be.Anne H. was great for this because she is a timeless beauty that played her role through the years wonderfully, and Jim S. did a great job evolving with his character through immaturity to understanding. The European setting was beautiful and added to the scenes from the city to country side building the romance of it all.

Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods. Not having read any of the reviews going around prior to watching it I must say it is one of the worst films I have seen in a long time. The thing is, am I missing something? I get the fact that it is a parody or an anti-horror film or perhaps even a nod (whether positive or negative) to horror films generally, but I still don't like it.
It was predictable from the start (why did that eagle have to hit the invisible boundary to the cabin? It made the later scene with the motor bike jump completely redundant). The acting was poor and even though the film may be satirical it is still painful to watch.
A mild-mannered psychopath plays mind-games with a woman he has tied to a chair in his basement. Killing Words" is a difficult film to categorize, but if you have to place it under one genre, it's probably what they call a "mind-twist. Twist upon twist upon twist - that's how this film proceeds. It constantly plays with your perceptions; just when you thing you've figured it all out, it proves you wrong. There are only four characters, and they are all effectively performed (and yes: Goya Toledo IS a sensual woman). The film is also stylishly directed and photographed. One minor point: the word game that Grandinetti and Toledo frequently play won't mean much to non-Spanish-speaking audiences. But Spanish is such a pleasant language to listen to anyway that this doesn't matter much.

If only Vincent Price were still alive. Perhaps the legendary Price, himself a fan of Edgar Allan Poe, and who starred in many adaptations of Poe's stories, could have brought the necessary combination of grand passion, inner turmoil, and sly wit to The Raven that it needed to succeed. But Price is of course long gone, and so we must make do with John Cusack. And it just doesn't work.

Albert Nobbs struggles to survive in late 19th century Ireland, where women aren't encouraged to be independent. Posing as a man, so she can work as a butler in Dublin's most posh hotel, Albert meets a handsome painter and looks to escape the lie she has been living. Slow going and I didn’t like Glenn Close as the main character. This could have been so much better.

1965, three Mossad agents cross into East Berlin to apprehend a notorious Nazi war criminal. Thirty years later, the secrets the agents share come back to haunt them. Outstanding film. Jesper Christensen's portrayal as the evil Vogel is so convincing that he steals the movie in my opinion. Sam Worthington is fighting well above his weight. Wooden, poor accent and one dimensional. I am amazed that this bloke gets gigs .........apart from that this is a wonderful spy movie

I was expecting to see a film about a career ballerina who is forced to access her repressed dark side in preparation for her role as the swan queen and cracks under the pressure. Instead, the film I saw was about a meek young woman who's possibly schizophrenic and certainly on the verge of a nervous breakdown from the opening reel. There's no real drama because Nina is already broken. All that's left is for the viewer is to watch her become increasingly unhinged.
Black Swan has a lot of flaws: The conception of Nina (Natalie Portman) is a major problem. No woman this childish and meek would ever last in an elite dance company, so it's highly improbable that the company director (Vincent Cassel) would single her out for the prima ballerina role. We keep hearing about how Nina is technically perfect but clinical and restrained, but we never see any evidence of this fact because Portman is filmed mostly in tight facial close-ups during these scenes, probably to disguise the fact that her dancing isn't so spectacular
Dissapointing

A hard nosed bitch who will stop at nothing to get her way irregardless of the morality issues. Very disturbing because this could be really happening for all we know

A frustrated office worker learns that he is the son of a professional assassin, and that he shares his father's superhuman killing abilities. Poorly directed. None of the actors excel in this very average movie
The events leading up to an 11:14 PM car crash, from five very different perspectives. Outstanding

A comedy centered on a has-been coach who is given a shot at redemption when he's asked to run his local high school's girls basketball team. Sam Rockwell is marvelous as the acoholic loser in life, whose one claim to fame was that he succussfully coached a boys varsity team before his life turned to poo. Not your normal sports movie. This has a lot of other stuff going to keep your interest. Some very funny moments. Enjoyable

Thirty years ago, Andrei Simoniovich Filipov, the renowned conductor of the Bolshoi orchestra, was fired for hiring Jewish musicians. He returns to Paris with a ragtag mob of players in truimph. Bravo this is a film not to be missed. MAGNIFICENT!!!

A washed-up writer forms an unlikely friendship with a teenager from Long Island. I've always thought that Jeff Daniels was an underrated actor and am hoping that one day he will get his break. I don't think this movie is it, but he is getting closer. Ryan Reynolds is great as Captain Excellent and Kieran Culkin is also very good in the part.

Two children conceived by artificial insemination bring their birth father into their family life. Solid performances from Benning and Moore lift this movie another star. Newcomer aussie Mia Wasikowska is the one to watch. Her acting is effortless. Enjoyable movie

Black Dynamite is the greatest African-American action star of the 1970s. When his only brother is killed by The Man it's up to him to find justice. Not my cup of tea

In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. Cate Blanchett saves this movie. She lights up the screen whenever she appears. Russell Crowe is quite wooden in this film. The film had some great moments but overall this is not Ridley Scotts best film by a mile

Slow paced and tedious.

A US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War. I wasnt aware of this movie when released in 2007. One of the better Veitnam movies I have seen. Bale is good but the star for me was Jeremy Davies. He was outstanding as an emiciated POW

A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi and The Boss. Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him. This movie is a snoozefest.

A historical drama that illustrates Russian author Leo Tolstoy's struggle to balance fame and wealth with his commitment to a life devoid of material things
Period pieces are usually slow and boring. This film is no exception. Great cast that had nothing to work with
The extraordinary true story of Oliver Woodward. It's 1916 and Woodward must tear himself from his new young love to go to the mud and carnage of the Western Front. Deep beneath the German lines. Woodward and his secret platoon of Australian tunnelers fight to defend a leaking, labyrinthine tunnel system packed with enough high explosives to change the course of the War.
As a war historian buff I found this to be a very enjoyable and well acted movie

Jeff Bridges plays a has been singer who has had too much booze and ciggarettes and lives on past glories. His acting is OK but didnt warrant a best actor oscar IMHO. The movie plods along in a pace that doesnt take too much brain power to watch. Colin Farrell is totally miscast as Tommy Sweet the new country superstar. What were they thinking! This aint no Tender Mercies which starred Robert Duvall in the same sort of role years ago. Overall disappointing
I enjoyed this movie. Rudds character is a real nerd and he pulls it off well. Some reall belly laughs in this movie

Hard to follow at times. Hoffmans character is a real loser. A hypocondriac who feels so sorry for himself that you could wring his neck. To watch this movie you have to be sober, awake and drug free LOL. I tried very hard to work it out but failed. I enjoyed the excellent acting and the quirks which still has me asking questions
