Having watched four seasons of this outstanding series I feel compelled to write my first ever review. The Wire is not like any other US series. The main storyline is about the war on drugs but it is so much more, with a commentary about the decay and disillusion in a US city.
Each season examines a different system, becoming a complete show in itself. Season four examines the corrupt and misguided school system, where students are short changed in their education and life opportunities. You will become so connected to the characters of this show, especially the four teenage boys in season four, but ultimately this show is not about them, it is about the story.
The story is complex and needs to be seen on DVD to avoid distractions. Use the subtitles if the street language of Baltimore is too hard too understand. The wire is one of the best series I have watched. Do not miss.
