The world lost a comic genius in Bill Hicks. It's a damn shame he didn't live long enough to witness the age of the Internet - he would have had a field day with all the bullshit in our culture now. Love him or hate him, you can't deny the man was exceptionally smart, philosophical, cutting and witty. He said what others' were afraid to and for that alone he should be applauded. RIP, Bill - you are missed.

Probably one of the better comic book movies out there. It won't appeal to everyone, as it's a weird premise, with an odd tone, and the title character is more anti-hero than hero, but it's very well done. Great design and direction with intriguing performances and memorable characters. Bonus Features include trailers, featurettes and a commentary with director Guillermo del Toro, Selma Blair and Ron Perlman.

A tad predictable and cliched, but still a good exploration of homophobia and bigotry, and the horrors that some people are capable of, as well the effects on the victim's family that last long after the deed is done. Some aspects are a little unrealistic and melodramatic, but it's a subject that deserves recognition, as it is still, tragically, far too relevant is today's society. No Bonus Features included.

Somewhat bizarre little movie that presents a future of widespread sterility, where the few fertile women are forced to bear children for wealthy couples against their will. A truly horrifying concept, with regards to bodily autonomy, woman's rights and sexism, but I don't think they went far enough in exploring that horror, focusing more on the love story angle. It's an interesting premise, but more could have been done with it. The performances are solid though, and the presentation of this nightmare future is effective. Doesn't include any Bonus Features.

Probably the best of all 3 seasons. The campy, trashy fun is still there, but the different sections of the cast are more integrated this season, leading to some fun situations and scenarios we haven't seen before. Thea Gill's scenery-chewing performance is truly painful to watch, but other than that this is an improvement on last season. Includes traliers and making-of featurette.

Anyone who is a fan of the more recent version probably isn't going to like this original incarnation of Hairspray. It's not a musical, despite including a few dance routines, but a satirical look at 1960s America. Unfortunately, the satire isn't entirely well done, and will most likely go over most viewers' heads. The glaring obviousness of the film's low budget doesn't really help either. There are some nice performances and a few genuinely funny moments, but there is a reason why the later version of Hairspray was far more successful than this one - such an over-the-top, campy storyline is much better suited to a musical format. Special features: Commentary with director John Waters & Rikki Lake; and trailers.

A film whose message is just as relevant now as it was then. Truly progressive for the time it was made, this film should still be shown to all young people. Wonderfully structured, with a balanced look at all sides of the situation, exploring all prejudices, both obvious and hidden. Features fantastic performances by some amazing actors.

The campy, laughably bad fun continues in Season 2. But something that made Season 1 so much fun seems to be missing here - I'm not really sure what it is, but there's definitely a different feeling in tone. Perhaps it's the change in locations, or the addition of new characters that don't really 'add' anything, or the slight decrease in scenes of a pervy nature; but Season 2 is definitely my least favourite season of Dante's Cove. Still worth watching though. No Special Features included.

I honestly can't really understand the appeal of this movie. I suppose it was groundbreaking for the times, but it's extremely slow and tedious by today's standards, and the script is annoyingly disjointed, filled with extraneous bits and pieces that don't go anywhere or add anything to the plot. Yes, the performances by the main cast are mostly brilliant and a lot of credit has to go to this movie for establishing a certain style in film narrative, not to mention pop culture references that still live on today, but ultimately, watching this left me cold. I don't know, maybe I'm just too young to 'get' it. Plus mob genre films aren't really my cup of tea anyway.

What can be said about Dante's Cove? Yes, the premise is ridiculous, the scripts are lousy, the film making is amateur-ish, and the acting is hilariously bad - but it still draws you in like any bad soap opera. It's pretty much a gay version of 'Passions' (with way more hot guys, nudity and sex). Don't expect too much of this show. It is what it is - low budget, superficial and entirely silly, filled with beautiful people who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. But if you're like me, you'll laugh at it's campiness and quickly find yourself hooked. Special features: Trailers and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

A borderline disturbing, yet intriguing story about an unlikely friendship between the director of the 1930s Frankenstein movie and his gardener. The themes from Frankenstein (loneliness, rejection and being misunderstood) are interwoven perfectly into the storyline to show just how much the director became like his most famous character in his older years. A beautifully told tale, showing just how different things can look from another perspective. Ian McKellan is fabulous as usual, and Brendan Fraser gives what is probably the best performance of a somewhat lackluster career. Includes behind-the-scenes featurettes.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
This movie is plotless and pointless. I think you'd have to be a hippie to appreciate it. All I saw were a bunch of whiny slackers who do nothing and contribute nothing - completely unlikable characters. The music is still awesome; the message is not. The ending was just dumb and unrealistic. Treat Williams gives a great performance, but that doesn't make his character any more like-able. Doesn't include any bonus features.

This odd little tale is a bit disjointed and lifeless, and leaves you with the feeling that they could have done so much more with it. Very much of the era in which it was made, it doesn't stand up too well to time, but the premise is still interesting and the plot keeps you mostly engaged. Bonus Features: Retrospective featurettes, original trailer and commentary.

Some great musical numbers and performances from the cast. The plot line is kind of convoluted and contrived (even by musical standards), which means the film drags in places, but overall it's easy to see why this is a classic. Bonus Features include original trailer and making-of featurette.

Not as good as other Muppet Movies, but there's still some giggles to be had. The Muppets are in London this time around, which means there are some great cameos from British actors. No Bonus Features included.

Sure it's disjointed and has plot holes a mile wide, but the sense of good old fashioned fun makes you want to ignore all that. It's classically '80s, which makes it good for a bit of nostalgia, but it would still appeal to kids today. Bonus Features: Commentary with director and entire cast; original trailer; original music video; and behind-the-scenes featurette.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Kind of slow and boring by today's standards, but it's easy to see why it's such an enduring classic. Just don't watch it if you're already feeling depressed because it certainly won't help.

Old-school Aussie sketch comedy. Very dated now, although it does provide an interesting look at what was going on (and being parodied) in Australian politics at the time, for those too young to remember. Features the classic, well-loved characters that are still remembered today, in great performances by Australia’s best comedians. Good for a giggle, as well as some nostalgia. Doesn’t include any bonus features.

Overly long epic about thirty years in the life of a Texas cattle baron and the outspoken New England girl he marries and has children with. The film is visually stunning, but takes a very long and convoluted route to, in the end, say very little. Anybody watching this purely for James Dean (as I was) will be disappointed, as he only has a supporting role, although he gives a great performance. It’s also interesting to see him in old-age make-up, since he never had the chance to reach his older years in real life. Includes commentary and ‘making-of’ featurettes.

Interesting look at a little-known part of TV history. Rather slow-paced, but thought-provoking, with some excellent performances by the ensemble cast. Clooney’s directing debut is a solid, artful effort. Includes a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Typically for a sequel, it’s not as good as the first movie, and asks you to suspend your belief far too much, but there’s still some enjoyable moments in this. Tim Curry voicing Garfield’s alter ego is a highlight. Includes several featurettes and deleted scenes.

Not quite as funny as the first season, as the levels of absurdity just keep climbing to ever-more unbelievable heights, but it’s still hilarious. Kathy Burke and James Dreyfus are nothing short of genius in their performances. No Bonus Features are included.

If you chopped the first and last ten minutes off the beginning and end of this film, you’d actually have a really great movie. Unfortunately the opening scene is hackneyed even for a horror movie, and the two leads are set up to be immediately unlikable. Honestly, death obsessions and suicide pacts between pretentious teens is so freaking tired and cliché these days. Making your characters outsiders within the film is one thing, but making them so alienating that even the audience can’t stand them is another. It’s only after one of the girls starts turning into a werewolf that they actually start to become more human and easier to relate to. After that, the film, while obviously low budget, becomes interesting and plot-twisty as the girls discover that real werewolves aren’t like in the classic movies. There’s some genuinely thrilling scenes and the film makes up for being so lousy in the beginning (although they hit you over the head with the sex metaphors far too much – yes, there are parallels between girls going through puberty and girls turning into werewolves – WE GET IT!), but then undoes all its good work with an ending that’s too gory, too ambiguous and too unsatisfying. They could have followed through to the film’s logical conclusion, but instead they decided to go for the ‘edgy and mysterious’ ending that’s become such a lame and pretentious convention in independent movies. If the beginning and end were as good as the middle of this movie, I would have given it 5 stars.

Absolutely HILARIOUS, I was almost crying with laughter in so many parts of this! Linda and Tom are two of the saddest, most pathetic characters ever created, and yet they are all the more lovable and funny because of it. This won’t appeal to everyone because the humour is pretty absurd and very British, but if you like The Catherine Tate Show, then you’ll probably like this. Doesn’t include any Bonus Features.

A lovely coming-of-age story about a homosexual teenager not only accepting himself, but wanting to be accepted by everyone else also. Ben wants to come out, while John is stuck deep in the closet – as their relationship progresses, Ben sees that no matter how much they love each other, he will never be ashamed of his sexuality the way John is. He wants to be open and proud, and he wants John to be proud of him too. He can’t live the lie the way John can. Some terrific performances in this independent film, not just from the two leads, but the supporting cast as well. Disc includes trailers.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Erin
A cute classic, but horribly outdated by today’s standards, particularly in regards to women. I’m by no means a hardcore feminist, but even I got a tad riled up over the sexist schlock that this movie was spewing (particularly the gag-worthy double-wedding ending). But if you ignore all that, then is a nice piece of brainless escapism, with some catchy musical numbers and cute performances. Bonus Features include original news reel about the premiere and original trailer.

Definitely one that will appeal more to the guys than the girls. Both Newman and Redford give typically great performances, but the whole thing just moves a little too slowly, is overly long, and the abrupt ending kind of leaves you thinking, ‘And what was the point of all that exactly?’
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
From the same team that brought you ‘Frontline’ and ‘The Panel’. A few laughs to be had here, but it’s mostly just groan-worthy. Admittedly that was supposed to be the point of this – something so bad it’s funny, but unfortunately they didn’t quite make it to the ‘it’s funny’ part. No Bonus Features included.
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
James Dean at his ‘poor emo-kid’ best. This re-telling of the Cain and Abel story is overly long and unevenly paced, but features some memorable and engaging characters and performances, particularly from Dean. Bonus Features include original trailer, featurette and film critic commentary.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Cute and funny, but kind of mediocre. Definitely only for Garfield fans or cat-lovers in general (watching Garfield do things that real cats do is just adorable). The special effects are mostly fantastic – even though Garfield is obviously a cartoon put onto a live-action background, there’s only a couple of scenes where it’s terribly green-screen fake-looking. Breckin Meyer gives a sweet performance, but Jennifer Love Hewitt seems to be phoning it in. Bill Murray as the voice of Garfield is genuinely amusing and perfectly cast. Bonus Features include commentary, featurettes on the making-of and special effects, and an original cartoon by creator Jim Davis.

Disturbing exploration of the military’s practice of stripping away every trace of humanity from their soldiers, and leaving behind only the hard, empty shells of what were once young men and now only monsters. The acting is incredible, but it’s a very hard film to watch. Having said that however, it is a film that everyone NEEDS to watch at least once. Not as good as the first two movies, but that’s to be expected. The only original character who makes an appearance is Tiffany, the rude, crude bimbo. If you’re a fan of that character, then you’ll laugh a lot at this. If you can’t stand that character, then you should probably skip this movie. Other than that, there’s the usual cute guys, poorly thought out deceptions, comedic farce and inevitable embarrassing reveals. Hopefully, this will be the last of the series, as the formula is getting a little tired. Bonus Features include trailers and behind-the-scenes featurette.

Hilariously outdated and tame by today’s standards. Worth watching for a look back at the origin of so many of the conventions that are now standard in the teen slasher flick genre. Also worth watching for the appearance of a very young (and very cute!) Kevin Bacon, and to laugh at the appalling overacting by the young and eager cast. Bonus Features include original trailers and a featurette that looks back on the making of the movie and its subsequent cult status.

Dylan Moran’s stand-up is always good for a chuckle, although he’s less of the laugh-out-loud variety, and more the thinking man’s comic. Full of interesting and humorous observations, delivered with the dry wit of a drunken Irishman.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
I actually found this better than the original in a lot of ways. Sure, it’s the same old formula from the first one, but it’s done with more comedy and less awkwardness this time. This sequel is more absurd and its comedy is much broader – it takes itself less seriously than the first movie (even though that didn’t take itself very seriously either) and it works to its advantage. And, quite frankly, it’s full of good-looking guys and there’s a few scenes that are pretty damn hot, so what’s not to like? Bonus Features include trailers and behind-the-scenes featurette.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
This film is obviously low-budget and the acting is kind of terrible, particularly in the first fifteen minutes or so, but if you manage to make it past the awkward opening, then this movie actually becomes quite watchable and surprisingly thought-provoking for a comedy. You find yourself becoming quite invested in the characters that are initially unlikeable. I suggest you watch the behind-the-scenes featurette and listen to the commentary – finding out what went into making this little movie makes it all the more likeable.

A cute example of how awesome kid’s shows USED to be, compared to the unimaginative, formula-driven crap being churned out by Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel these days. Sure, it’s showing its age a little; moves a little slowly by today’s standards, and obviously didn’t have a huge budget, but please – sit your kids down and introduce them to the magical genius that was Jim Henson. There’ll never be another one like him. No Bonus Features included (unfortunately).

Once you get used to the outlandish, absurd humour and amateurish acting, this is actually pretty funny. A classic farce of mistaken identities, given a uniquely modern twist with some crazy characters and crude situations. This is the kind of movie you’ll either love or hate. Includes trailers.

A cute coming-of-age and coming-out movie. As it moves along, you realise that this is not just the story of a young gay man, but the story of two very different brothers and the common ground they share. Some nice, if amateurish, performances.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
An action movie with heart. Four adopted brothers investigate their foster mother’s murder and take their revenge. It’s completely over-the-top and unrealistic, of course, but very entertaining. Features some great performances. Bonus Features: Behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Fairly weird supernatural tale, starring a very young Drew Barrymore. She was a very talented kid, but she’s working with an underdeveloped script here, with characters that are never fully explored and motives that are not always entirely clear. No Bonus Features included.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Not as great as the hype led me to believe. The classic story is just as grand as ever, told with some epic film making, but the performances fell a little flat for me. I don’t know, maybe I just don’t find Gary Oldman sexy enough to be the irresistible Dracula, but I found myself really struggling to care at all about the romance. Bonus Features: Behind-the-scenes featurette and theatrical trailer.

(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Not as funny as it could have been, or as the actors clearly *thought* it was. There are some hilarious individual performances, but put together as a whole, it just comes off kind of bland. Most of the characters are just pathetically sad and there's no real pay-off in the end. It's an interesting look at the insanity of Hollywood and the shallowness of the movie industry, but ultimately there was so much *more* that could have been done with this. Special Features: Cast
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
The format seems kind of old these days, since there were so many movies afterward that tried to copy its style, but this is still one of the better teen movies of the 90s. The ending is a little anti-climactic, as so many things are left unresolved and unexplained, but it's a fun ride throughout this day in 1976. The era is captured very well and the actors turn in some great performances. Special Features: Trailer only.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
About as bad as you'd expect from the third installment of a horror series. There are a few genuine scares and plenty of gore, but it gets kind of repetitive just waiting for them all to die one by one after mind-numbingly slow and irritatingly transparent suspense build-ups. Special Features: Director's commentary and a 'Choose Their Fate' feature that lets you change certain events in the movie.

Not as good as the first season, unfortunately. It feels a little forced - like they're trying too hard to recapture the magic of Season 1. The constant flashes to other movies and shows are also extremely overused this season, and get pretty irritating after a while. Absolutely terrible. Tedious, over long, and not at all believable at any point. Rock Hudson actually gives a half decent performance for the crap he's working with, but Jennifer Jones is appallingly bad. Her character is terribly written to begin with (contradictory, inexplicable motivations, not at all realistic), but Jones makes her even less believable and horribly unlikeable. You wonder why the hell Hudson's character would bother with her, let alone fall in love with her. I was also disturbed by the sexual harassment scene, where he basically bullies her into having sex with him, despite her repeated refusals. Maybe this was considered passionate and romantic back in the '50s, but these days it's called rape. It's the only time I'll be glad that most teenagers never watch classic movies, because I'd hate to think of young people watching this kind of thing and thinking it's not only appropriate, but desirable. No Bonus Features included.

Very interesting, informative and entertaining documentary. Particularly enjoyed the very frank interviews with Jane Lynch and Heather Matarazzo.

A fairly laughable effort from the 80s, with a lousy script and cheesy performances. It's overly long and tedious, with zero characterisation, the end result being something like a book that reads, 'This happened, then this happened, then this happened, then this happened.' Just about the only praise I can give it is that it takes some real talent to make the legend of King Arthur this boring and unwatchable. No Special Features included.

A little overly sentimental, but still a lovely film about friendship, family and the meaning we make out of our lives. Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson give their usual amazing performances, with Freeman in particular creating a such a wonderful character that you honestly mourn his passing. A slightly sad, but enjoyable film. No Special Features included.

A bit dated now, but still some classic laughs to be had. It's interesting to see the beginnings of a career which has turned out to be so successful and high profile now. In addition to Eric Bana, there's also funny performances from Stephen Curry, Michael Veitch, Bob Franklin and Dave O'Neil. Special Features - just a photo gallery.

A nice sentiment - a lonely writer helping an old man relive his youth by bringing a defunct hat factory back to life - but something got lost in the delivery. The script is two-dimensional and awkward, and made worse by the absolutely atrocious editing, which doesn't suit the style of the film at all. You're left feeling like you missed something - nothing quite connects. A pity, since there are some remarkable performances from the actors, who clearly thought they were making something far more special than what this turned out to be. No Special Features included.

A little choppy and uneven, but still a good film, with some great performances. It can't seem to decide if it's a movie about music or a musical, with the film veering off a conventional narrative and into a self-conscious musical number rather abruptly, a fair way into the story. It's kind of odd and off-putting.

Interesting documentary about the ridiculous controversy that their anti-Bush comments stirred up - only in America could people be so stupid and unreasonable. So silly and ridiculous! A real throw-back to B-grade movies from the '50s, complete with '80s (lack of)style and laughably bad musical numbers. There are a few genuinely funny moments, but it's mostly worth it to see the early appearance of so many people who went on to become stars (Jim Carrey, Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum and Damon Wayans). Special Features include deleted scenes, outtakes, and sing-alongs.

A film that is unabashedly '80s and very over-the-top with the melodrama, but there's an interesting story here, underneath all the angst. Much of the plot (what little there is of it) is completely implausible, but I still found myself swept up in the love story. No Special Features included.

Better to watch the original before this, in order to appreciate it more. The film's message is nicely updated, and the added action and effects don't seem too conspicuous until towards the end. Keanu Reeves gives a very good performance. Special Features include commentary and featurettes.

Completely implausible and silly, but entertaining enough. The pacing is a little choppy, but then so was the original's. Steve Carell gives his usual hilarious performance.

If you don't like Jackass, then you definitely won't like this. Dirty Sanchez is like a grosser, stupider, grosser, more dangerous, GROSSER version of Jackass. These British lads make you want to laugh and spew - all at the same time. Be sure to check out the tons of deleted footage in the Special Features - there's some absolute gems in there.

These last two discs make up Dilbert's second season, where, unfortunately, things started to go wrong. The writers took things too far, the humour going from absurd to painfully ridiculous, making the show go from clever to just plain stupid. Still entertaining enough, but a real step down from the first season. No Special Features included.

Dilbert is so quintessentially '90s that this cartoon is definitely starting to show its age, but it's insights into the stupidity of bureaucracy and the business world are (unfortunately) still very relevant. The understated, satirical humour may not appeal to everyone, but the show is quite clever, and the evil Dogbert never fails to deliver a chuckle. No Special Features on this disc.

A truly disturbing film, without being your usual over-the-top, gory horror flick. If you're expecting a biography of Dahmer, with lots of details about his crimes and his trial, you'll be disappointed. This is more of a character study of the monster himself, rather than his crimes. A chilling insight into the mind of a serial killer - I almost felt dirty after watching it. Includes a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Very unique take on zombie movies, without being a spoof of the genre. It's very funny, with occasional moments of poignancy - these guys did a good job walking the line between horror and comedy. An unusual take on the usual alien invasion storylines. Kind of slow by today's standards, but some of the special effects are actually quite good for the time. Worth a look for the sake of classic sci-fi history. Special Features include a commentary, photo gallery, original trailer and original MovieNews reel featuring a piece about the film.

The first of the stylised comic book movies that are so prevalent these days. A little choppy and uneven by today's standards, but still a real pioneer of the genre. Some very memorable performances by most of the cast. No Special Features included.

Kind of weird, but has some nice twists, and both Sherilyn Fenn and David Hewlett give some memorable performances. The 1950s setting is effective and well done. No Special Features included.

Don't know why they call this a Halloween DVD, when only one of the nine cartoons is actually about Halloween - the rest are just weird. Totally boring, even for kids, and just shows how lousy and stupid cartoons are these days.

They weren't 100% successful with translating this stage play to the big screen, but it's a decent effort for the times. Sophia Loren is horribly miscast (the character was never supposed to be Italian!) and gives a totally unrealistic performance, but Anthony Perkins is fantastic, and they somehow manage to create an intense chemistry, despite the limitations of 1950s censorship. No Special Features included.

A decent documentary that does a good job separating fact from fiction in the various myths that have sprung up around this particular event in history.

A unique thriller, comprised of melodramatic, operatic, noir-ish and supernatural elements. It's showing it's age a little, but still offers an engaging story and some genuine thrills. The script is a little choppy, with some plot holes and inconsistencies, but overall, a solid effort from Branagh. Special Features include two commentaries and the orginal theatrical trailer.

Kind of disappointing - Steve Carell is usually a pretty safe bet, but this was just so tedious and boring. Everything moves at such a slow pace and never really seems to get anywhere. The attempts at comedy are contrived and not funny. This movie tries to explore the same themes that Little Miss Sunshine did, but doesn't do it anywhere near as well or as entertainingly. Special Features include commentary, two featurettes, deleted scenes and outtakes.

In some ways better than the first series and in other ways not as good. Setting the mutants free on an unsuspecting world was an interesting premise, but introducing new bad guys outside of Manticore just made everything too complicated and even less believable. The addition of Jensen Ackles to the cast as the 'love to hate him' rogue, Alec, was a good move, but Joshua the dog-man, while endearing at first, quickly just grew irritating. Disc 6 includes a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Definitely showing its age, and perhaps not quite as funny when taken out of the context of it's era, but definitely an interesting slice of Aussie TV comedy history. Awesome! Fast-paced, action-packed thriller, with some genuine scares and gore that is realistic rather than disgustingly gratuitous. There are some weak spots in the script, but the editing and direction are perfect - in other hands, this could easily have been terrible. Couldn't ask for more from a zombie movie; loved it. Includes director's commentary, deleted scenes, several making-of featurettes, and bonus stories - full newscasts and Andy's video diary.

Very bizarre, somewhat disturbing movie - definitely not for everyone. An interesting premise, but the minimalist script doesn't allow for much character development, and the tedious pacing makes it seem like not much is happening - the film could have easily been 20 minutes shorter. Overall, you're left feeling not very satisfied with it. Elias Koteas is his usual brilliant self though. No Special Features included.

The story is a little slow by today's standards (especially the beginning), but Henson's puppets and sets are as magnificent as always. He created an incredible world, full of extraordinary detail. Quite cute, unique indie film. It shouldn't really be classed as a 'gay' movie though - the main is character is straight and (unlike most films of this genre) doesn't engage in any 'experimentation'. Sexuality isn't really the issue in this movie; it's far more focused on the experiences of a guy trying to find his place in the world. Includes the theatrical trailer and a commentary with the director and two main actors.

Hard to believe that something this lousy was actually made by real lesbians, but it was, according to the lengthy credits/interviews sequence. This film can be appreciated a little more when you realise that the full title is Cynara: Poetry In Motion - which explains why it's not a narrative, but an attempt to present a visual poem. In other words, it's not a movie so much as a 30 min montage of images interspersed with voice overs and the most irritating piano score of all time. However, appreciating what the 'filmmakers' (and I use the term loosely) were trying to accomplish with this, does not change the fact that most of it is incredibly boring. Add in the fact that the direction is amateurish and the production values laughably cheap, and it comes off looking like some pretentious high school kid's attempt to shoot a film on their parent's camcorder. And if you're thinking about watching it just for the lesbian sex scenes? They're not that great. Seriously, you'd be better off downloading internet porn.

Unique, thought-provoking movie with some engaging performances. The special effects are showing their age, and the script seems a little pasted together, but overall worth watching. Includes original theatrical trailer.

Not as good as the original - in the desire to turn the original cube into a four-dimensional hypercube, and all the extra special effects that go along with that, they've neglected the characters and story. The script isn't as tight as the original, the purpose for each character isn't explained well enough, and it doesn't all come together in the end - there are too many loose ends left, compared to the first movie. Also, the first cube had rules - this one doesn't, which makes the whole thing kind of pointless. Presumably, the filmmakers would say that having no rules WAS the point, but it leaves you feeling like none of the characters even have a chance, and it gets tedious watching the inevitable. Special Features include several featurettes on the special effects, picture

Kind of disappointing when the synopsis made it sound so good. I'm not entirely sure why it disappointed me though - all the elements were there: interesting premise, good performances, great special effects. But somehow it never really came together - I was left with the impression that it could have been so much better. Includes a director's commentary.

Cute 80s teen comedy, typical of the genre. Interesting to see a much younger (and skinnier!) Patrick Dempsey; not to mention a positively baby Seth Green, who steals every scene he's in.

Not your typical 'laugh-out-loud' stand-up routines, but some very amusing stories being told. Each comic's piece is very personal and very heartwarming. A nice little show - I enjoyed it.

An interesting premise and very watchable story, but the best part of the film was definitely the amazing special effects used to age Benjamin and other characters. They used both prosthetic and digital effects, and I've never seen such seamless work - most of the time you couldn't even pick it out. Very impressive. Also, great performances from all the actors involved. Only comes with a commentary by the director, because all the other Special Features are on a seperate disc

Horrible B-grade movie from the 80s. Badly-written, horribly contrived script, combined with lousy acting (with the exception of Burgess Meredith), tedious pacing, poor direction, cheap production design and laughably fake special effects which are terrible even for the time they were made in. All together a horrible waste of an overly-long two hours. Unless you want to laugh at how stupid it is, seriously - don't bother! Bonus Features include filmographies for some of the stars and interviews with Ray Harryhausen.

Interesting documentary about Orson Welles, creator of Citizen Kane; William Randolph Hearst, who the film is based on; and their infamous feud. Hearst wanted the film destroyed, but even with all the power and influence he wielded, Welles beat him in the end - a victory which ended up leading to his own downfall. The similarities between the two enemies are remarkable.

Incredibly disappointing. The new format of the show, having 'guest stars' and taking the focus off Stephen and Hugh, has destroyed the charm of the previous seasons. The laughs are few and far between as you sit there thinking, 'Enough with trying to pretend you're a stupid chat show - just hurry up and get to the skits!' And the running jokes that weren't funny the first time round certainly don't gain anything in the endless repetition. No Bonus Features included.

A little slow and awkward by today's standards, but still a classic. Orson Welles's performance is very captivating. It's also interesting to see the origins of so many cinematic conventions we now take for granted, like montages, low-angle shots, etc. Bonus Features include commentaries, featurettes, and a ton of production pictures. Very interesting look into a piece of Hollywood history.

Definitely the weakest of the three seasons. There's still some good laughs here, but the repetitive jokes of the older characters are wearing a little thin, and the newer characters just aren't as funny. No Bonus Features included.

A lot more polished than the first two seasons, but many of the former regular skits have been replaced by new ones, which was a little disappointing. Still great comedy though - Stephen Fry is nothing short of brilliant. No Special Features included.

Fairly original gay movie. The storyline is a little contrived and predictable, but the main character is a refreshing change from the usual promiscuous types that litter this genre. Some gays might find it self-hating, but I found it an interesting exploration of the gay subculture and those gays who don't fit within it. If you're looking for hot sex scenes you're going to be disappointed. No special features except the film's trailer.

Very funny, classic British humour. The sketches involving Lauren the schoolgirl and the evil Nan were definitely the highlights. No Special Features included.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
The attempt to inject humour into this gives it a very different tone than the first two films - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In fact, the whole film seems a little patchy and stitched together. It's still quite enjoyable and the action is great, but it just doesn't have the energy of the second film. Special Features only includes two commentaries. I only started listening to the one with Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds, but it seemed quite boring and uninformative.

Missing whatever spark the original had. We see far too little of the caddies for a movie called Caddyshack, and way too much of Chevy Chase and Jackie Mason, which is never a good thing. I love Dan Aykroyd, but he makes a lousy substitute for Bill Murray. No Special Features included.
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
Fairly dated now, but still provides a few giggles. Bill Murray probably gives the funniest performance of all the actors, but the adorably cute gopher definitely steals the show! Good if you're in the mood for something purely silly.

Better than the original! Benefits from a tighter script, a more satisfying conclusion, and a new director who brought more scary suspense and less just-for-shock-value gore. Special features include two separate commentaries (the one with Wesley Snipes is fairly decent) and, for some odd reason, a version of the movie with no dialogue, only score - I have no idea who would find that interesting.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
A low-budget, but very interesting doco. It focuses on a little-told part of Australian history - from the very first days after the convict ships landed to the beginning of an actual town that would one day be the bustling city of Sydney. Of particular interest is the story of how the Europeans interacted with the Aborigines, and the mistakes they made despite their mostly good intentions. No special features included on the discs,

A little more polished than the first season, but still with the same biting Fry/Laurie wit. Will only appeal to fans of British comedy - anyone looking for broader, American-style humour will be disappointed.

Extremely clever and very, very funny! A little dated, sure, but both Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie are hilariously talented. This is what we call high-brow humour - no fart jokes here!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Erin
Yet another example of how making a movie 'family-friendly' will inevitably make it lousy. And the sickeningly obvious push for all the toys and merchandise they could possibly get out of this franchise just makes the viewer feel insulted - I don't like studios that treat their audiences like they're stupid. In other words, everything that made Batman Forever bad has been multiplied to the nth degree here, and everything that made it good as been stripped away and thrown out completely. The dialogue is cheesier, the plot holes and larger and more glaring, the villains more one-dimensional, and the sets more claustrophobic and unrealistic. The constant laser lights are even more annoying than they were in Batman Forever, until you're wondering if you're watching a movie or tacky planetarium show. The bad script is made even worse by the bad acting - there's no exploration of Bruce Wayne's psyche at all, leaving George Clooney's performance flat and uninteresting, officially making him the worst Batman ever. Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance is even more monotone and robotic than when he was playing the Terminator and mostly just sounds like he's reading off the script. Alicia Silverstone's acting makes an already annoying and unnecessary character even more annoying. Elle Macpherson should stick to modelling. Uma Thurman is okay as Poison Ivy, but does some real B-grade acting as her supposedly more 'real' alter ego. Poor Chris O'Donnell tries as hard as he can, but he's been given even less to work with here than he was last time. Ultimately, Batman and Robin resembles the campy, 60s TV show, more than it does the other films in the series. There's too many characters for any of them to get enough attention. It's shallow, boring and plays like a 2 hour ad for all the merchandising. Joel Schumacher obviously has no idea what Batman is supposed to be and has missed the point entirely.
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
More entertaining than Batman Returns, but starting to lose any sense of realism that the first 2 films had, due to a new director who thinks the excuse of "Oh, but it's just a comic book movie" can let him get away with more absurdities and cheesier dialogue. If you can get past the first half hour, then the film seems to settle down a bit and get more into the internal, darker sides of Batman, like we saw in the previous films. However, the attempt to inject some colour into this dark world via neon lights, black lights and lasers gets incredibly irksome after a while. Val Kilmer's Batman is on par with Michael Keaton's, if not better, although he loses the Dark Knight's dorkier side, which I missed. Chris O'Donnell does the best he can with what he's been given as Robin. Jim Carrey is terrific as the Riddler, but just painful as Edward Nygma - he's so obviously and ridiculously disturbed, that you'd think Batman should have figured he was the Riddler straight away. Tommy Lee Jones is just terrible on all levels, making the complex Two-Face a hammed-up, boring, one-dimensional villain.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Quite good and unique for the genre, although a little more gory than most. Enjoyable enough, but a little uneven and leaves you feeling a bit unsatisfied - like they could have done more with what they had.

Once again, Nikki Reed is horribly miscast - this movie may have actually been very good had they cast someone who could actually capture our fascination, the way she supposedly captured the main character's, instead of someone who comes across trashy, vapid and boring. As it stands, this is a fairly pedestrian effort; there were some good ideas, but they didn't go anywhere. Most of it was very predictable, and the ending was annoyingly unsatisfying. I only rented this because I'm a fan of Jonathan Tucker, but even he seemed like he was phoning it in most of the time. Very disappointing.
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
A decent attempt at doing a somewhat different take on your standard mobster movie. Gina Gershon does a good job, but Jennifer Tilly's performance is incredibly flat, and she's horribly miscast in my opinion. Joe Pantoliano is almost brilliant as the complex, layered bad guy. It's also interesting to see a younger Christopher Meloni in one of his first roles. For the pervs out there - there's only one lesbian sex scene, but it is pretty damn hot :)
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Generally not as good as the first one, but better in some ways (including a better ending). The only thing that bugged me was that they deviated from the canon of the original - instead of waking up with new memories, he woke up with no idea what had happened in this new reality. I didn't really get why they would just randomly change their own rules like that.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Pro-conservative Christian agenda masquerading as an objective exploration of Dan Brown's book. It does bring up some interesting points, but it's incredibly biased and doesn't go far enough in supporting it's claims, nor does it even address anything that it doesn't agree with. I mostly felt ripped off by this - I got the impression that it would be an informative documentary, looking objectively at both sides of the case. Instead I get a bunch of interviewees speaking so condescendingly about ideas that I believe have at least SOME merit, that I just felt insulted.
(Don't bother!) - review by Erin
Follows much in the same vein as the original, but is missing whatever spark the first one seemed to have. The supposedly outdoor city street sets are so tiny it gives the whole film a horribly claustrophobic feel; and having two villains leaves no time to properly explore either, and gives far too little of Batman himself. There are some interesting ideas and themes here - they just weren't executed well. It looks terribly amateurish compared to modern comic book movies.
(Maybe) - review by Erin
Very good for the time in which it was made, but seems a little pedestrian now. Jack Nicholson hams it up a little too much in my opinion. Michael Keaton' s understated performance as Batman is very good and gets far too little credit compared to Nicholson.

Surprisingly good, and very unique compared to most family movies which seem to be all the same these days. Moves a little slow for younger children, but ages 6 and up should love it.

Not as funny as I was expecting - would've been better if they'd concentrated more on the idea of remaking movies, rather than the whole cheesy subplot of bringing the community together for some dead jazz guy. The subplot was okay, but felt like it belonged in an entirely different movie - this flick can't seem to decide if it's a screwball comedy or a sentimental drama and as a result ends up being neither. Very unsatisfying.

Interesting look back at the time just before the Bush administration screwed things up beyond repair. Michael Moore knew what was coming, even if no-one else did. This series is hilarious and sometimes cringe-inducing in its use of absurdist humour, often allowing extremists and other morons to hang themselves on their own stupidity. It's rather satisfying for people who actually have a conscience and a rational mind to watch.

This was a very cute attempt at a gay romantic comedy, but unfortunately suffers from trying too hard to emulate the genre by using just about every romcom cliche there is and going completely overboard in the process. The film starts off on the wrong foot with a sequence that is just too poorly-acted and too transparent in its attempt to be outrageous to actually be funny. If you can manage to make it past the first ten minutes though, the rest of the film is mostly enjoyable and does have some genuinely amusing moments. Unfortunately, there also some parts that will just make you groan at their over-the-topness.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
Obviously not as funny as the original, since they used the bits that were cut out, but it definitely has it's hilarious moments, and a lot surprising stuff that I wasn't expecting - like a whole other subplot and ending that must have been replaced by the panda story in the first film. And I have to give them credit for actually managing to form a fairly coherent story line out of bits and pieces from the cutting room floor.

Very funny - it's great to get an "outsider's" take on Australian culture, especially one who actually seems to "get" us. I especially enjoyed the funny little featurettes in the special features.
(Excellent) - review by Erin
There are some genuinely funny moments in this, but not nearly enough by today's standards. The film is a little dated in that you have to remind yourself of the fact that nothing like this had ever been done before at that time in order to appreciate it. Like most older films, it seems a little slow compared to today's movies. Diane Keaton is lovely as usual, and Woody Allen is amusing, but all the references to him having sex just kept reminding me about his real-life sex scandal that came after this movie. Which was both off-putting and gross.
(Worth watching) - review by Erin
A little slow, and at times confusing, but fairly typical for the time in which it was made. Younger viewers like myself will like it for all of the familiar themes, plot points and shots that we have seen parodied or homaged in countless other films and TV shows.
