Universally slated on release, this film is flawed but does still narrate a very interesting subject matter. However, hoardes of Ancient Greeks all with Irish accents just doesn't work.

Surpisingly likeable lightweight comedy
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Strange and unnerving, and overly explicit at times.

Nice idea, but is simply just too dull.

Wonderful food, slickly presented.

Superb - how the English would deal with a zombie attack. Very funny, very accurate.

Cheesey Chinese chopsocky caper, daft but great fun
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Alternative and riddled with profanities, none of the characters are particularly likeable, although it's still an enjoyable watch, and leaves you wanting to discover what the point of the movie is.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Surprisingly interesting documentary, despite the tendency for hyperbole. Certainly provides plenty of background for conspiracy theorists!
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Superb - one of the best comedies of all time, total laugh-out-loud stuff
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
Great action adventure, albeit with somewhat ropey dialogue at times
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Very daft and very funny - check out the number of cameos too!
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Decent large scale epic, but the acting and dialog aren't great - lacks the charisma of the Kirk Douglas original.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Superb fight scenes, and wonderful cinematography and use of colour, plus an intriguing and developing plot line told in flash back form. Great film.

What does it mean to be human? To live, to love, to die? Fascinating and challenging Asimov-based storyline, with a strong performance by Robin Williams.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
OK, but no classic.
(Maybe) - review by Chris
Incoherent, disjointed and dreamy - a tale of not knowing what you have until it's gone, or is taken from you.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
A decent addition to the Lion King, and keeps the little fans attentive.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Excellent action movie, the tight dialogue and continuous plot shifts keep you guessing right up to the end.

Decent action thriller, shame that William H Macy doesn't get the chance to shine
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Wonderful and heartwarming tale of friendship, very funny too

Surprisingly good film, you don't have to be a teenage girl to enjoy the wit and social observations portrayed in this very enjoyable story. Bit of a frightener for anyone with daughters!

Quality seventies cheese!
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
A deeply touching portrayal of a totally flawed genius, sometimes funny, mostly sad, and occasionally surreal. Outstanding performances, especially Geoffrey Rush and Charlize Theron. Partially explains the justification for these flaws through oedipal tendencies, manifesting themselves into violent rages and lack of self esteem - fascinating stuff.

Classic stuff!

Outstanding! Incredible detailed animation, superb characterisation, and great adventure. Excellent social commentary on the greed and selfishness of compensation culture, plus themes of learning who you are and being true to yourself, make this a great film for all ages.

Classic seventies cheese

This film is informative enough and covers off the subjects in some detail, but unfortunately is delivered in a rather dull and uninspiring manner. The book is exciting, but this film isn't.
(Don't bother!) - review by Chris
Quite amazing to see that this really happened.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
A surprisingly good film, wonderfully acted. Leaves you with a real feel-good feeling.

Great film, superbly performed

Fans of MotoGP will love this, and non-fans should watch it to gain some appreciation of the best motorsport currently out there.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
This film has a particular style, with fast moving and often rather fruity language, which you'll probably like or loath. Ben Affleck really isn't Oscar winner potential, although amusingly this is one of the sequence of Jay and Silent Bob movies, providing the basis for the film's title and primary theme.

A highly amusing and entertaining look at the UK music revolution of the 90's. Once you get past the initial dubious political message, and the truth behind the New Labour fakes is revealed, it is a very enlightening take on life in the UK during this period, with some truly outstanding quotes from some of the stars of the period.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
An enjoyable and often surreal journey through early 70's glam rock; spot the influences from David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Mott the Hoople, Marc Bolan, The Sweet, Gary Glitter, and of course the legendary Noddy Holder.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Unauthorised story of the greatest hard rock band of all time - doesn't feature much of the music, but does give an interesting insight into the formation of the band, and the group dynamic.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Great Disney classic
(Excellent) - review by Chris
A mad, bad rollercoaster of a movie, a complete assault on the senses. The Tarrantine influence is obvious, it now looks like an extended MTV interview, although this film helped define that style of editing back in the 90's. Amoral, brutal, exceptionally violent, but ultimately compulsive viewing.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Powerful, moving and superbly acted
(Excellent) - review by Chris
A quite unique take on the traditional King Arthur legend. Despite the critical panning it received, it's a decent all-action flick, as long as the historical accuracy isn't questioned.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Pretty decent John Woo action flick, interesting plot twists, but Ben Affleck is no Oscar winner
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Classic cheesey 80's action film, certainly not to be taken at all seriously!

Timeless Disney classic
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Great film, highly original storyline, leaves you wondering if it could possibly be true?
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Great film, superb performances. A character driven story indispersed with scenes of graphic sex and extreme violence, and themes of luck and love. Well worth a watch.

Great kids' movie

Outstanding family classic, you can't help joining in all the classic songs - and you just can't miss Dick van Dyke's legenday "cockney" accent.

Superb Disney fantasy classic, complete with anti-war message

Superb, very funny guy

If you're a fan of lara Croft, and set your expectations of a movie based on this character accordingly, then what you get is a slick and pretty decent all-action adventure that's actually rather endearing.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
How do you define the barriers between justice and law enforcement? Great action film, with an unravelling plot and suitably satisfying climax.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Powerful and emotive - ultimately a little too long.

Great for the sprogs
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Entertaining tale of 80's greed, money and bad hair styles.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Powerful, gripping, initially confusing but comes together as the film progresses.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
This was the greatest musical event of all time. Most of the performances are superb and really stand the test of time, clearly dominated on both the London and Philly stages by the best of Bristish from the 80's - check out the Freddie Mercury performance! The Americans are generally good but not in the same league, and there is a token effort from INXS at "Oz for Africa".
Check out the extras for the quite unbelievable international section, especially the Austrian and German band aid songs.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
Seminal, magical - a cinematic classic
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Decent cartoon action that keeps the sprogs amused
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Classic festive fun!

The plot is not the strong point of this movie, but the Jackie Chan stunts are quite incredible and really make the film.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
An ejoyable feel-good film
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Typical lightweight stuff, but still entertaining, and the Jackie Chan stunts are as impressive as ever
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Classic Brando, now somewhat dated in its moralistic perspective but still stands as a classic film
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
A true cinematic classic!
(Excellent) - review by Chris
An engaging biopic of a legendary, and ultimately tragic, character.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
The usual quality from the thinking man's kitchen crumpet
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Certainly the best of the three so far - better acting and direction, and highly entertaining
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Superb parody of vacuous fashion models - especially good when you see who they managed to get to appear in cameo
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Complex, dreamy, scary, confusing - "open your eyes"
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Decent action film, quite moving at times, worth watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Simply massive!!!
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Superb sequel, possibly even better than the first in the series. Much of the film is concentrated on the character developments and the internal conflicts being faced by the lead character, which is neatly complemented by quality action sequences. In typical Hollywood style, there will almost certainly be a third movie considering the open ending.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Great music for a great guy. And Monty Python are superb!

Classic western, one of the best ever made.

Let's rock!
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Superb study of attitudes to social decay and the conflicting attitudes and behaviours between adults and a misguided and disillusioned youth. Exceptionally violent, and made more disturbing by the ages of the characters, it portrays the loyalties and allegiances in place between a class of teenagers, and the extents to which they can be driven when the ultimate result is at stake.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Superb feel-good film about escapism and reinvention
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Too much like hard work - black & while, weird, and incoherent
(Don't bother!) - review by Chris
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Packed with celebrity cameos, and a very silly plot, but results in a clever and entertaining film - especially when you see what Silent Bob is really like in the DVD extras
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Bloke from the streets turns good and joins police. Catches big bad dude. Bad due murders bloke's wife. Bloke goes after him. Catches him in the end. Formulaic? At least Vin Diesel has enough screen presence to carry the film.
(Don't bother!) - review by Chris
Pretty good, lacks some of the charm of the original but still worth watching
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Fairly standard war film, just with some originality around the storyline involving Native Americans. Usual strong performance by Nicholas Cage.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
If you know you like Cheech and Chong, you'll like this!
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Very cheesey dialogue, and somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Reasonable thriller.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
One of the funniest films ever made. It manages to make fun of the follies of organised religion, and the blind devotion to new messiahs, whilst containing some of the most immortal lines of any film - not to be missed!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
A study of friendship and lifestyles, as the end of the greatest decade ever known looms ever closer, or just a classic lighthearted romp with superb characterisation and truly memorable dialog - who cares?
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
OK for the small ones

Stunning film, outstanding performances.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
This is quite a painful experience. Hollywood just does not understand how to make a decent film about motorbikes. If you're in to bikes, prepare to cringe.
(Maybe) - review by Chris
An intelligent study of racial tension, this film manages to examine differing viewpoints without forcing opinions onto the viewer.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Keeps the sprogs busy for a while.

This is a very unusual and original film, about what happens when your missus goes loopy on you. Well worth it.

Outstanding classic.

Creepy, morbid, superbly acted by Johnny Depp - good stuff.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Possibly the most feel-good film of recent years
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Stupid, puerile, and very very funny - superb!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
No real connection with the original apart from the lead character name and 3 Minis. Does not have the charm, humour or atmosphere of the original - there's no "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" for example, but instead it's a decent action movie in its own right.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Best of British in terms of the stars, and certainly worst of British in terms of the storyline and settings, but some very funny moments and some great performances.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Great film, although to be expected when it stars Al Pacino. Well worth a punt.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Great film, good plot twists, and a satisfying end result.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
This is quite a cringing film to sit through - anyone who is into bikes will be sorely disappointed that the dreadful story line takes precedence over both the bikes and the riding. And have Americans never heard of cornering?
(Don't bother!) - review by Chris
Betrayal, revenge, honour, and extreme violence. One of the most original films ever made - absolutely fantastic stuff!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
Godd old fashioned stirring stuff - and who doesn't enjoy watching the Frogs being whooped!
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Strong story and decent performances, but at the end of the day, the portrayal of those nasty British soldiers is so camped up and over the top that you begin to feel some allegiance and empathy towards them.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Ein echt-deutscher Klassik. Ausgezeichnet!

(Worth watching) - review by Chris
What a character! And as the DVD extras show, he really exists! Great stuff.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
One of the all-time classics of the genre, a study of good versus evil, and the effects of one's suuroundings when surrounded by the horrors of war.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
One for the fans, but a decent overview of what Bruce's style is all about.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Great film, very moving, remarkably good performance by Russell Crowe, and a real tear-jerker of an ending
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Not too bad, the odd very funny moment
(Maybe) - review by Chris
Starts off rather tenuously, bringing together a series of minor literary characters in a convoluted storyline, but actually works out well, and the end result is a decent entertaining action flick.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
The two words "romantic" and "comedy", when applied to any film, is usually enough to put any bloke off a film. However, when it's a Coen brothers film, rather than the usual cringing American schmaltz you get a sharp, snappy, witty and very funny film. The two lead performances by George Clooney and Catherine Welsh-tart are pure parodies of themselves, the plot twists along, and the dialog is superb. Blokes should not be put off!
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
A truly seminal epic. The juxtaposition of imagery and soundtrack is quite astonishing. The progressive paradigm of human evolution into a new realm presents a dichotomy with the broader universe. Ethereal and fascinating.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
Good old gung-ho American all action hero type of film, never takes itself seriously, and is good entertaining stuff, well worth a look.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Good for keeping the little ones entertained
(Maybe) - review by Chris
A pretty decent thriller with an exciting climax and a very thought-provoking plot twist.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Not in the same league as the truly seminal 2001, but much more approachable and less abstract. It also answers some of the obsurities of 2001. Worth watching as a sequel.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Entertaining stuff, shame it had to be Americanised but still works well. Great for any bloke who has ever compiled a Top 5 list.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
One for fans only.

This is a genuine classic. Very long, so requires a few sessions to watch the whole experience, but truly fascinating. The band performances are oustanding, notably Joe Cocker's "help from my friends", Jefferson Airplane and of course the Jimi Henrix finale.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
A superb opportuntity to relish the fantastic world Cup victory of the English against the Australian hosts and previous cup-holders
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
Not bad, worth a watch - quite a short film
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
A good watch, better than expected. The often irritating Jim Carrey is surprisingly good, and whilst the plot is typically American, i.e. simplistic and moralistic, the end result is a film worth watching.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
With a convoluted plot and poor dialogue, only the action scenes make this a reasonable effort.
(Maybe) - review by Chris
An outstanding film, providing a refreshing change to mainstream WW2 war films. It primarily focuses on the drive and determination of a fascinating character, and the politics and manipulation carried out at the leadership level, at the expense of the troops on the ground. Whilst amusingly anti-British in its perspective of Montgomery, it is also quite perceptively anti political-correctness, quite an achievement considering it is from the late 60's. It also provides an apparently honest view of the defeat of Germany, without laying any falsified claims to the success of the Allies being due to the involvement of the Americans, unlike many more recent films.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
An outstanding film, very engaging, completely amoral, and highly amusing. A superb analysis of what happens when there is no-one to fight. Well worth seeing.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Chris
A true cinematic classic from the legendary Stanley Kubric, it is a superb parody of the cold war and the dependency on nuclear weapons, and what might go wrong if people start to get funny ideas. Peter Sellers is superb in three of the main roles.
(Excellent) - review by Chris
Classic, deliberately low-budget and tongue-in-cheek stuff. Amusing, not too scary, and good fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Whilst Vinnie Jones is never going to be an Oscar winner, this is a relatively faithful remake of the Burt Reynolds classic, and is certainly worth a viewing.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
An enjoyable and entertaining film, that raises some very well constructed arguments around corporate responsibilities and theological relevance within modern society.
(Worth watching) - review by Chris
Another Pixar classic, great animation and wonderful characterisation, one for children and grown-ups alike
