A slow burn without the burn. A comedy which tries really hard but can't raise a single chuckle. Emmanuelle Chiqri is pretty good and the Native Americans are also good. That said, save your time.

Hank Azaria is beaucoups funny in this limp sequel to the surprise comedy Night at the Museum. Steve Coogan and Owen wWilson are always good.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
A solid actioner which is a mix of the '13th Warrior', 'The Thing' and 'Alien'.
Some nice special effects and no one chews the scenery. Nice to see John Hurt try his best even with a shoddy script.
A nice distraction if nothing else is on.
BTW - a very good blu-ray transfer,
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Average at best with some grusome acting. But Eric Balfour (24 and Haven), Peter Stormare and the always excellent Clifton Collins carry this film. No one else looks like they are trying.

A beautiful Blu_Ray transfer which deserves the 3D treatment. Almost sensational CGI and a capitvating storyline. The voice acting is some of the best and on par with Pixar productions. Highly recommened.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
A very nice Blu Ray transfer which successfully showcases the colours of Western Australia in the 1960s. Good humor and nice skits. Missy Higgins and Jessica Mauboy make very successful acting debuts and Dan Sultan and Geoffrey Rush make standout performances.
Recommended.

Not a great return for Dominic Sera (Gone in 60 Seconds). Some unintentional comedy with Alex O'Loughlin's Australian accent, made even funnier when you find out that he's Australian in real life!

Would have gotten three stars if the pacing was better. The film could have done well being trimmed by 20 minutes. It's an actors show with quality on all levels (Mortensen, Harris, Irons, Henriksen and the always special Ariadna Gil).
The one actor who really stands out in this film is Ariadna Gil, check out her body of work - Pan's Labyrinth, Alatriste, the Worst Years of Our Lives and Belle Epoque, hopefully she'll do more english movies.
This film also marks the return of Aussie Dean Semler to the western genre. He's the best.

Zombieland suffers from the fact that the mix comedy and zombies was done so well by Shaun of the Dead. There are some serious belly laughs in Zombieland and some nice touches. Unfortunately, its not as good as Shaun of the Dead. If you're comfortable with that, then you'd probably like Zombieland.

So bad it's funny. Poor Barry Corbin and Elaine Miles - the guys just can't get out of Alaska (both were in Northern Exposure).
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
With such a nice cast, how can this film be boring, quite simply where Chicago had a great story and interesting plot, Nine has neither and as a result not matter how good the cast (Cruz, Dench, Day-Lewis and Cotillard especially) the film will always be boring.
Here's hoping that Rob Marshall doesn't screw up the next Pirates of the Carribean installment.

Wow so awful it has to be seen to be believed. Even the better half who is crazy about romantic comedies/romantic dramas, turned off after half an hour.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
In a single word - Craptacular. Junior Gooding is plumbing the depths of former Oscar supporting actors/actresses like Timothy Hutton, Mira Sorvino, Mercedes Ruehl, Marissa Tomei and Peggy Ashcroft who have basically collected the oscar and done nothing afterwards.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Red Cliffs, Hero, House of the Flying Daggers and the Three Kingdoms. An Empress and the Warriors isn't in the same class, but for a war epic turned romantic movie, its pretty good. The Donnie Yen character who should be the main protagonist of the film and its star barely gets any character development, too much is spent on the side story with Leon Lai and Kelly Chen.
The fact that Kelly Chen - a canto pop singer - leads the entire Yan army is brings into disrepute the entire Yan army.

This marks a big change for Merchant Ivory films. The city of Paris has never looked batter and everyone except for Kate Hudson pulls more than their weight. The weak link is Kate Hudson, as she demonstrates time and time again, that she shouldn't headline any movie. If Kate Hudson is your female lead, than the movie stand no chance. Naomi Watts and Leslie Caron are criminally under-used.
One thing guys, if you watch this with your significant others, make sure they don't see the scene with the handbag!!!

Essential bio-pic about the Chicago blues and Rock-n-Roll. Must see for all music fans.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
The Blu-Ray transfer is exceptional but the movie is average. More a extended music video for the Bad album. Four stars if you are a Michael Jackson fan but only two stars as the retrospective at the start is probably the highlight. The rest is just a vanity piece.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
The best description of this movie is imagine the Karate Kid, but focussing on Sensei John Kreese instead of the lovable loser Daniel LaRusso. If that doesn't make you want to check out Foot Fist Way, you just don't like movies.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Average at best. Audrey Tautou is always good.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
One of the most unintentionally funny films of the last decade. Imagine Cocktail Tom Cruise wearing a German Officer's Uniform. Once you get over that hilarity, the dodgy accents, Cruise mugging for the camera and Eddie Izzard and Kenneth Branaugh trying their best not to look like they're just doing this one for the money.
Should have been called 'Derr Maverick'
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Tough to watch and no payoff... Cannot recommend.

Best known for his epic war movies like Glory, Courage Under Fire, Last Samurai and Blood Diamond, Edward Zwick has a shot at the Russian Jewish Resistance in WW2. Unlike his other efforts this actually struggles for pace with too many peripheral characters who slow an already ponderously paced movie.
Other than Jamie Bell, no one shines in this one and unless you're interested in the topic, you might want to see something else.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Christopher Lloyd must have needed the cash to star in this disaster.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
The premise and execution of this is not good. Not only is it boring, but visually, the bar is set so high in terms of CGI movies, it is difficult for a bitsa movie to succeed. Not enough to keep the kids happy and too uninspiring for the adults to care.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A cheap production, that's so bad that it;s good? Nup, it's just bad.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Long and slow too words I would never have thought I would say about a Judd Apatow movie. The comedy is patchy.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A safe family adventure film, with some very good moments. Brendan Fraser is becoming the go-to-guy for family oriented adventure films. Andy Serkis mugs for the camera so much it looks like he's doing an impression of him doing an impression of Gollum from the Lord of the Rings.
All in all, not bad if you're a fan of the books but will test the adults who are not fans.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Average. Only if nothing is on and you don't want to see the Fifth Element again...
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A very solid hollywood product, but not as good as the 1980s or even the 2003 animated versions. Although the voice acting and the scenes are first rate, there is something missing for all of us who were expecting something more akin to the animated series.
Four stars for the fans of the tv-series, but five stars for kids.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Worst film of 2009? No, not even in the top-10 worst films of 2009, but other than Sandra Bullock, this film is a turkey.
Everyone chews the scenery especially Bradley Cooper, who did luck out by scoring the Hangover and the A-Team, but will be forever known as Jennifer Garner's whiny boyfriend from the TV show Alias.
Thomas Hayden Church, Ken Jeong, MC Gainey and Keith David are like Zegna suits at your local St Vinnies. It is hard to soar like an Eagle when the script is a turkey.
More of a chick flick.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Right off the bat, I'd like to say that I can't stand romatic comedies. Only a couple make the grade: Singles, Grosse Point Blank, Sixteen Candles and Me, Myself and Irene.
Get ready to add a new one to the list. Not only does the 500 days of Summer track exactly how most modern relationships start and end, but it also incorporates the one of the most eclectic soundtracks of recent times.
Like some of the other reviews have said, without the right actors, this film just wouldn't work. Replace Joesph Gordon-Levitt with Ryan Reynolds or Owen Wilson and you would have the acting equivalent to a five car pileup. Same with Zooey Deschanel swap her with Cameron Diaz or Gwyneth Paltrow and it would just tank.
The best parts are Chloe Moretz (a future huge star - Hit Girl from 'Kick Ass') as the wise beyond her years little sister and the main character's dumb buddies.
Excellent viewing.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Almost the prefect football movie. The flashbacks and the jumps into the present make this almost like documentary. Highly recommended, much better than the other more common football movies like 'Goal', 'Mean Machine' and 'Victory'.
The cast is fantastic and Michael Sheen is perfect as the arrogant and magnetic Brian Clough.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Justin
Bolt gives you 85% of a Pixar production. Will it stand the test of time like a Pixar production? Not sure, but there are enough laugh out loud moments, cute characters and really beautiful backgrounds and animation for repeat viewings.
The best part is the homage to the Matrix freeway chase scene which merits a couple of rewinds.
Highly recommended.

A John Hughes classic. What every guy wants is a smoking hot genie.

Wickety wack. Too weird.

Annoying camera work, slow dialog and the cardboard cutout characters. Couldn't get past the first 25 minutes.

Some dumb fun, which is good for quick bit of entertainment. It is good to see Jon Foo as a random thug before he becomes a superstar later this year.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
An excellent film even better when teamed with some classic Miami Vice and the doco Cocaine Cowboys. Cliff Curtis is sensational in his cameo appearance as Pablo Escobar, while the chuckles are a plenty every time Rachel Griffiths and Ray Liotta as Johnny Depp's parents!
Depp delivers in spades while Penelope Cruz teaches us guys an important lesson - don't get involved with crazy women...
(Excellent) - review by Justin
This is actually a pretty good movie. It won't make anyone's top film lists or crack the list of best romantic comedies, but for what it is, it delivers in spades.
Sandra Bullock makes a return to form as the nasty boss but is charming nevertheless. Ryan Reynolds is always good, especially when playing a Alaskan Kennedy.
Girls would love it, guys will tolerate it and will have a couple of decent chuckles. Recommended to kills a couple of hours.

Possible to watch. Long and drawn out.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Nice film with a good cast. Even better when you think that Cusack's character is like Martin Blank from Grosse Point Blank.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
One of the hardest films to watch in recent memory. Not only is it long, but the rambling plot make it very difficult to enjoy let alone take any ownership of the characters. David Fincher should stick to what he does best - movies where his visual style is best utilised - think Alien3 and Se7en.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Very solid French action movie. Some great scenes and some amazing Parkour sequences. Highly recommended.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
For a Uwe Boll film it is his best. But comparing it with other action movies it is terrible.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
A solid cop drama with some pretty good actors. Only Colin Farrell drops the ball in this one.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Like Traffic and Babel - Crossing Over is an ensemble film where the lives of a number of people are intertwined. But unlike Babel, Crossing Over is finished in a little over 100 minutes.
Harrison Ford makes a comeback where as an ICE agent and Cliff Curtis is very believable as an Iranian ICE agent with a complex family situation. Look out for a bunch of 'that guys' - Michael Cuddiltz (Band of Brothers), Sarah Shahi (Life), Alice Braga (I am Legend) and Jack Conley (everything).
A compelling film which was very worth the effort.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Does this actually pass as a comedy these days. Awful. I'm not going to burn any more calories for this movie only that it is terrible. The only truth is this film is crap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
This is much better than his recent effort 'RocknRolla'. Jason Statham is very good and again much better than his recent effort 'Crank 2'. Either way it will surprise you.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
About 30 minutes too long and a weird classical score by Aaron Copeland. But the film is worth the effort for the final showdown between Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington) and Jesus Shuttliesworth (Ray Allen) and the too close to home recruitment of student-athletes.
Would've gotten four stars if it had a hip-hop soundtrack.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
A long movie which features a sensational ensemble cast - Downey, Gyllenhaal, Anthony Edwards and Elias Koteas. The only thing that lets this film down is the same problem with all FIncher movies - pacing. Not bad and worth the effort.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
90 minutes of pain. Awful acting, terrible plot devices and a twist which is so unbelieveable that it will leave you wanting to jump out of a window. Stay away, far away...

Not one of Jackie's better efforts in recent times (Forbidden Kingdom is still the best one he's made in the last five-years). However, some good stunts and photography of stunts (the sticky paper is pretty cool. Recommended for the family. But if you want something better from Jackie Forbidden Kingdom is the way to go.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Not bad. Actually pretty good for what it is - a film which is all about showing off the very attractive (Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz) in scenes from the old west. Inoffensive and pretty good fun. Recommended if nothing else is on.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
The perfect antidote for those crappy dance movies from the last five years.

Anne Hathaway is amazing as the selfish, self-abosrbed problem child who cannot be anything other than the centre of attention. Probably Demme's best film since Silence of the Lambs. But that is not saying much.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Grim, uncompromising and unbelievable. If the French showed this much fight, they would not have surrended twice!!!
(Maybe) - review by Justin
After some funny scenes, the film falls pretty flat. The only good part is Michael Douglas channelling Hugh Hefner.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Still good after all these years. I don't know what is sadder - the death of disco or John Travolta's last dozen films. John Travolta's last dozen films easily.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? None of the above, it is neither black enough for a comedy, nor serious enough for a drama. I don't know what to make of it...

Unlike other IMAX presentations, Speed has truly dated. Almost to the point of being irrelevant. Even kids will have trouble maintaining their attention with this one. A little nostalgia for the rest of us.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A funny if not hilarious throwback to the exploitation films of the 1970s. This one was a little different due to the high production values (for the time) and the mulitple filming locations.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Not good. Australian cinema should do better.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
A bit silly and Anne Hathaway carries this film on her back, but able support from Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo. But this is strictly for the kids.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Not bad, but Renny Harlin... How far have you fallen? As the director of such magnificent action flicks - 'Cliffhanger', 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder', 'A Long Kiss Goodnight' and 'Driven' - could have done much better.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Agonisingly slow.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
A cross between Mad Max 2, Resident Evil and The Omega Man. Some very solid action pieces (the Bentley chase is pretty good) and a very charismatic Rhona Mitra who is slowly becoming the go to female action hero (like an Angelina Jolie without the acting chops), none the less, a very competent piece of work without of one super scary moment like 'Dog Soldiers'
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
The prototypical high school football movie that has spawned millions of imitators but none as good.
Always a gas to see Leon from 'Cliffhanger' in one of his earliest roles.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Average action movie with some pretty good character actors (Bokeem Woodbine, Keith David) and some average 'actors' (everyone else). The Bangkok locations were nice with the obligatory boat chase, but doesn't make up for patchy direction and a pointless script.
Keith David is always good.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Completely missable.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Compared with all the other 'girl tries to get onto a guy's sports team' movies this is not as good as 'Gracie'. Too preachy and a surprisingly long.

Pretty good and Simon Pegg always delivers.

An incredible film, much more than a martial arts film (although martial arts fans don't have anything to worry about) with a cracking storyline and characters.
Who knew Dustin Nguyen was that good. They guy is like a grittiest Bond Villian of all time, but with acting chops which would not be out of place on the stage.
Johnny Nguyen's skills are fantastic. He should be a hollywood lead action actor.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Tries really hard to be funny while blantantly borrowing scenes from anime classics such as 'Ninja Scroll', "Basilisk' and 'Naruto'. Some very nice space ship designs, but the clownish acting and godawful subtitles really spoil what could have been a nice little time filler.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Great fun and funny special effects. Check out Don 'The Predator' Frye - UFC champ and Tom Selleck lookalike. Good times.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Mildly amusing but some people are terribly miscast - Kevin Connolly is terrible and Jeniifer Anniston is Jennifer Anniston (typecast).
Women will like it and guys will be upset as the game is given away on some scenes.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Gory, bloody and over-the-top action. Pretty solid with a good cast. Clancy Brown is unrecognisable and Karl Urban always delivers. Two stars for the regular viewer and add another star if you're a fan of 10,000 BC etc.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A really good film, Roselyn Sanchez is beautiful and there is enough nudity to keep guys interested and the story is something that the chicks will dig.
Gets three stars just for Roselyn Sanchez's amazing abs and sensational wardrobe.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
This is actually a pretty funny movie. There's some solid acting and great set pieces. More like a reboot of the franchise (Batman Begins, Terminator Salvation etc) than a homage.
Alan Arkin is the star of the film with all the great lines and brilliant comic timing, his scenes with the Rock and Anne Hathaway are the best parts of the novie.
Recommended.

Part coming of age film, part HK gangster film. A nice change.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
With a plot 'inspired' by a famous plotline from Batman, and an older and less mobile Jackie Chan, the latest (and hopefully not last) installment of the Police Story series is still a winner. With cracking set action pieces and Jackie Chan action, this is pretty cool.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
If you can imagine a crappier, cheaper and stupider version of Cloverfield? Well that's Monster. Monster ups the ante for stupidness with dumber people, and crappier storylines.
My DVD player feels dumber now after playing 30 minutes of the film.
Instead of not for everyone, it should be rated as not for anyone.

For those expecting a light Ryan Reynolds piece, it is and it isn't. A good script, real characters and a charming little kid. Part coming of age film, part romantic comedy and part ensemble satire of the Clinton administration.
Surprisingly good. Ryan Reynolds shows some pretty good acting chops, especially when he's with Abigail Breslin (the kid).
Good date movie and especially good with the better half.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
The kids love this one, but for the 'core fans of the force, it's a little limp. With some many stories to tell, why did they choose this one?
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Unwatchable. Michael Biehn, you were one of the iconic tough guys of cinema over the last 30 years, what were you thinking?
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Much better than other urban dance movies. Although it still doesn't escape the stereotypes and awful script. Banderas is like the basketballer who scores nearly all the points for the team, even though the team gets belted by 50 points. Can't recommend.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Stop Loss is justifiably one of the best films about the impact of conflict on soldiers. Unlike any previous war films, it focusses on the people and does not play politics nor does it condemn or support the policies.
Great actors and an air tight script, highly recommended.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Slow, boring and predictable. Hard to recommend, other than to see Natasha Henstridge and Maggie Q...
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Lost in Translation Lite. A charming story about comfort food and the effects of it on the consumer. Brittany Murphy does a pretty good job as an aspiring ramen chef.
The film works on so many levels and the guy who plays the grand master of Ramen is a total cut up. Highly recommended.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Craptacular. Awful acting and nonsensical plot. I want my 100 minutes back!
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Just like Babel. Overrated and Boring. Only interesting characters are Brendan Fraser and Andy Garcia.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
An incredible special effects film which is spoiled by a nonsensical storyline and awful script.
Sam Elliot revives his best Wade Garrett (Road House) impersonation. Always a big kick seeing the two stars from Casino Royale (albeit not on the screen at the same time).
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Average comedy with an average cast. Jennifer Anniston is never good and Owen Wilson does what he can (which isn't much). The star of the show is the crazy dog and Alan Arkin's dead pan delivery.
If you replaced Jennifer Anniston with any other actress and it would have been a marked improvement.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A solid effort with a nice cast. Audrey Tautou is always good. The story although implausible works with the tight script and interesting characters. Blu Ray shows off the details in the location filming and scenery - although not as solid as National Treasure, it is not degraced by any means.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Really nice blu-ray transfer. The CGI animals look incredibly lifelike and the nice little animation tricks to cover the diorama characters really stand out in hi-def.
The best people in the film are Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan (good Stiller stand-bys) are hilarious as the bickering cowboy and roman legionnaire.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
The first truly likeable politician since 'Dave'. Great story efficient script (written by 'A Few Good Men' Aaron Sorkin) based on real-life mavericks Charlie Wilson, Gust Avrakatos and real life superhero Mike Vickers.
Performances are first rate with even the most minor roles completed by super actors.
I don't give five stars often, but every star is earned in this film.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Two and a half films in the one movie so it slots in at nearly three hours. Bryan Brown, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman all show as much charisma as the average block of wood. You might not like the storyline or the implausible plot devices, but if it is well executed you will give the film a pass.
However, this film is awfully executed, bad CGI is no excuse since Lord of the Rings and Matrix movies were all done locally, nor is the shoddy editing (this film is longer than the Godfather!!!!).
With all the critics giving this the thumbs up, I am wondering whether they watched the same film I did. What happened to aussie movies like Two Hands, Babe or Dead Calm? Instead I have to suffer through films like this. My tax dolars at work.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Good but not great. The Jason Lee character 'Bones' is sensational.

Nup. Takashi Miike has really missed on this one. I guess when Tarantino turns up in the first few minutes you realise what you're getting.

Not bad, although not as good as the first Elizabeth film. Clive Owen - why is this man not James Bond??????

Lee Carter is unlikable - a combination of both Wheels from Degrassi and David Silver's buddy from 90210.

Even after 28 years this film still stands up, Quality acting, script and story. Debra Winger and Louis Gossett Jr own this film and Richard Gere's career would peak with this film.
Get it, watch it and remember the lines!

Confusing, no special effects and unlikeable characters.
Kinda saved by Ryan Reynolds who can surprisingly act.
Who would've known?

As stoner buddy movies go, it's not as good as the Cheech and Chong movies of 70s and 80s. More stupid than funny. Only recommended for people who like stoner movies and 15-year old males.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Decent fight scenes for a film with no budget. The guy who narrates the action is over-the-top and annoying.
Watch it for the fights and "Desh" from the Bourne 3 as he shows his fighting skills and which makes you wonder how he lost to Matt Damon!
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Redbelt is quality introduction to world of grappling and mixed martial arts. Actual professionals add a level of authenticity to the movie whereas actors would not have been believeable.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is a sensational actor and provides a physical presence which most actors could not replicate (although many martial arts "actors" could).
Highly recommended.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Spielberg directs a long winded action piece where the action is so spaced that there is no continuity.
Eric Bana makes Adam Sandler's 'Zohan' look like a Hoffman's Ratso Rizzo in terms of toughness.

Super confusing spoils the fantastic animation. A shame really.

Mongol is an amazing piece of cinematography capturing the first 24 years of the life of Ghengis Khan, it is very similar to Rocky. A man with nothing, fights his way to the top. Awesome!

Extremely slow pacing which lets down the brilliant cinematography and character development.
Good solid fight scenes.

Rumour was this film was bankrolled by both the CIA and the National Rifle Association. The Soviets and Cubans invade small town USA. Comedy ensues.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Justin
Even worse than Drumline! The main problem is that the film is badly made. Giancarlo Esposito is like a Zegna suit at a St Vinnies store, a super actor amongst a steaming pile of other 'actors'.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
This film has seriously dated. Some of the jokes may not be as funny as it was back in the 1980s. Rae Dawn Chong (Commando) is the real star.
That said, it is a kick to see Julia Louis Dreyfus in an early role.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A blatant rip-off of 'Coyote Ugly' with a homeless man's Adam Garcia in Riley Smith.
That said like Piper Perabo in Coyote Ugly, Mary Elizabeth Winstead nearly saves the day, it must be hard being the best actor in cast of people who are basically pantomime performers.
Not good times. Two stars for Mary Elizabeth Winstead's performance.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A film for idiots, made by idiots.

One of the worst movies ever made. One of the cookie cutter 'inspirational' movies of the early 00's like 'You Got Served', 'Stomp the Yard', 'Step Up' and 'Center Stage (which is by far the best of a bad lot)'.
Once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Easily one of the funniest films of all time. Every gag is perfectly timed and executed. Leslie Nielsen is a comedic god.
Good times.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Justin
Depressing at parts and other than Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones, no one else is on the screen.
Worth a look, but don't expect to be blown away. Look out for Josh Brolin as the police chief before his career defining role in 'No Country for Old Men'.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Although an interesting premise, it often feels like a cheap version of Paycheck/Matrix and co, the really slow start killed any opportunity for me to get into the movie. Sorry - sometimes pacing does come before character development.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Decent football scenes and great photography, but the storyline was so improbable, that it detracts from the overall film.
Alessandro Nivola is so unathletic, every football scene he is in is unintentionally funny.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Average storyline, decent acting and a wooden performance by Marky Mark. Was Boogie Nights, The Departed and Three Kings a fluke?
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
They don't make films like this anymore! Before Crocodile Dundee and Strictly Ballroom, Australian film used to be all about exploitation films and trouble in the outback. Classics like Stone, Coca Cola Kid, Razorback and Fair Game were all done on the cheap with great visuals.
Unfortunately, the art of making a good exploitation film all but disappeared and the best Australia film makers left for hollywood. Unfortunately crap like Dundee, Ballroom, Rouge and Welcome to Whoop Whoop get funded.
A cult classic along the lines of Razorback, Bliss and Idiot Box.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Some very funny scenes but the main kids are just annoying especially the fat kid. The bully is not a patch on Billy Zabka from the Karate Kid or even the tough guy from 'Never Back Down' but he shows enough to steal the show.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
An excellent movie, who'd know that Ben Affleck could direct a movie set in Boston so well. Every bad character is unlikeable and every good guy is punished in some way.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Pretty average movie, which is as long as it need to be. Any longer and there would have been bloodshed.
This movie have some serious stretches, where almost all of them are simply improbable.
You've been warned.
Both Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker and William Hurt seriously mail in their performances. All their cue cards must have been written in big block letters.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Impressively long and drawn out. As much as I was interested in the development of the characters and the storyline.
An all star cast.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
The storyline is reasonably interesting, but the characters are all idiots. This is what would happen if a monster invaded your major city and complete morons tried to get somewhere for a 'rescue' attempt.
Can't recommend and the jerky camera work make the characters look even stupider.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
A couple of unintentional funny scenes (namely Jamie Foxx's wig and Morris Chestnut shameless mugging for the camera).
What can I say? A chick flick, which no doubt some people will like and a lot more people will not like due to the stereotypes and hopeless dialogue.
If it starred Jamie Foxx and Dave Chappelle, you know it would've been funny.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
A little like 'Free Willy' and a little like 'ET', albeit with Scottish accents. A feel good film which would be great for kids.
Watch out for Aussie Marshall Napier was the crazy cook. Good times.
Yes the blu-ray looks spectacular and the CGI is sensational. Scotland has never looked so good - because it was mainly filmed in New Zealand!

A fairly strong war drama as opposed to a JCVD martial arts saga.
While not exactly cliche filled, some of the old reliables make an appearance : guy who has a girlfriend waiting for him will get killed, JCVD's buddy suddenly turns evil, JCVD's rival all of a sudden comes clean just before he gets killed etc etc
Watch for Nicholas Farrell's disgraced english major with a gambling problem - probably one of the best characters in war movies in the last 20-years.

This is probably Kevin Costner's best sports movie. In the late 1970s and 1980s there were five major movies about cycling - Breaking Away, American Flyers, Quick Silver, BMX Bandits and Rad. Each of these were classics and other than the hairstyles and fashion haven't really dated (although BMX Bandits is not as funny as I remembered it second time around).
See it for the beautiful scenery, see it for the story telling and see it for Eddy Merckx - the greatest cyclist of all time.

Who would have thought this film was a period piece (1980) rather than a modern take on the heist and going on the run movie.
There are some chilling scenes and Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and Garrett Dillahunt (who steals the show) are all amazing.
Don't get this if you've fallen for the Oscar hype. Get it because you're a fan of gritty drama films like those of Sam Peckinpah, Eastwood or Walter Hill.

A poor man's remake of the Karate Kid, except that the 'Hero' of the film is a headcase bully - unlike the lovable loser Daniel LaRusso from the Kid Series.
The main bad guy has serious issues and he is more evil than both Sensei John Kreese and Johnny Lawrence ever was.
Recommended but not a patch on the Karate Kid.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
An incredibly bad film. The unintentional comedy is off the charts and the stereotyped street dancers and freaks feud with each other in probably the lamest feud since the travolta's feud with jeff conaway in grease.

The homeless man's Dodgeball. The lead actor is terrible and the cover of the DVD ruins one of the main surprises of the film.
Maggie Q, George Lopez and Jason Scott Lee steal the show, James Hong sleepwalking through another role and great cameos from Dietrich Bader and Terry Crews.
More annoying than funny.

An 1980s classic with Kevin Bacon. Also some 'before they were stars' moments such as Sarah Jessica Parker, John Lithgow and Chris Penn.
Best of all Rob Lowe's brawling ice hockey playing brother from Young Blood plays a school thug.
It doesn't get any better than this.

Blu Ray really highlights the care and detail in Kubrick's masterpiece.
Unfortunately, he would never reach this level again.

Straight to DVD action film. It seems like years since Van Damme burst onto the scene in classic fists of fury films like Bloodsport, Kick Boxer, Double Impact and Time Cop.
Since 'The Quest' it has all been downhill for the once unstoppable JCVD. Like Segal, these JCVD mus pay the bills otherwise, why would you bother?

A little Officer and a Gentleman, Rocky, Wildcats and Renaissance Man.
A tough working class guy tries to tough it out at Annapolis. We've all seen it before.
Good leads are let down by bad boxing scenes (they should have hired they guy who did Million Dollar Baby).

A very solid vampire movie that faithfully follows the comic book mini-series. Some excellent special effects and make-up, combined with a good story and soundtrack causes some jumps.
Highly recommended.

A standard teen comedy with all the same stereotypes.
Only the scenes with the prankster friend are worth seeing.

One of the great unknown comedies in recent years. Everything works in this film, Kevin Hart (the gang customer from '40 year old virgin') is surprisingly funny and Method Man, Snoop and Godfrey are comedy gold.
Highly Recommended.

So bad, I wanted to punch myself. The acting makes the acting on the "Footy Show" look like they have been performed by Gielgud, Olivier, John Barrymore and Mifune.

Low budget pap. Til Schweiger deserves better. The action scenes and script are all amaturish in their execution.
At least Chazz Palminteri got a holiday in Barcelona for his efforts (although in some scenes it looks more like Glendale in Los Angeles).
Not good times.

Most people have worked with a pyschopath before, and this film does not provide any funnier insight to what happens in real life.
The actors are good but the script could have been snappier and shorter.
The film is a little too long.

Not a bad gangster film, the british accents only add to the action.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
A weird cross between a horror film and police drama. Unlike previous Renny Harlin classics like: Die Hard 2, Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Long Kiss Goodnight and Cliffhanger, there is no humor or exciting action sequences.
Although the cast is well appointed (Val Kilmer, LL-Cool-J and Clifton Collins), the storyline is too crazy to make it work.
Don't blame Wayne Kramer though, the screenplay had been redrafted many times.

It's not Con Air or Face-Off or even Ghost Rider - but a Nicholas Cage action movie is always worth catching on DVD as opposed to forking out serious cash at the cinemas.
Some very seamless CG and nice action pieces prove that although it is not any of the films mentioned earlier, it is still; better than most action films going around at the moment.

A wonderful story which not only features characters that kids would enjoy but sufficient adult humor to keep everyone cackling away.

Not one of his best. Basically unwatchable, the quick editing is hiding Seagal's noticable drop in skills (both acting and martial arts).
Not a patch on Under Siege 1 and 2 (some of the best action films ever made).
A sorry result for previously one of the greats.

Worth it just to see the 1970s haircuts and fashions.

Possibly one of the most ripped off concepts for television and cinema - the fish out of water with quirky characters who win him/her over.
Local hero not only brings all of this together but includes Burt Lancaster as the crazy billionaire with a penchant for astrology.
Denis Lawson from Star Wars and Jenny Seagrove (who makes the most memorable enterances in recent history). Steal the show as the rent seeking hotellier/accountant/town advocate and scuba diving siren respectively.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Justin
Joins a very short list of great cycling movies/Documentaries (Breaking Away, Overcoming, Hell on Wheels, A Sunday in Hell, Rad and Road to Paris).
The story of Graeme Obree - a troubled soul and iconoclast who had revolutionised cycling as much as his more famous compatriot Chris Boardman is as powerful as his accomplishment of beating one of the most be legendary records ever.
Needs a commentary from Paul Sherwin, Phil Liggett and Eddy Merckx in the Special Features.
The film is rivetting.

Anyone who went to Primary/Elementary school in Australia, US, UK, NZ or Canada in the late 1970s and 1980s has read the book. But the first movie in 1985 might be better than this film.
The lead actors are good and Zooey Deschanel is perfect as the singing teacher crush. Just a little weird seeing the T-1000 Terminator as a kids father - I was half expecting him to stab the kid through the chest for losing his keys.
Good times.

Only one funny scene in this 'comedy'.
McLovin should get his own movie. He's too good for this film.
Not good times.

A feel good film with several good football scenes. Also a bunch of 'that guys' - Dan Martin, Kevin Dunn, leon Rippy and Brett Cullen.
The disc should have included the original documentary in which the movie was based upon.

A film which is very hard to take. Given the superior work from the same crew on films like 'Club Dead' and 'Super Troopers', this film did not meet those low standards.
How hard can it be to make a film about a german drinking competition?
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Although funny in bits and pieces, the acting generally lets down what could have been a quirky, black comedy.
There are enough cameos to keep everyone amused, but the Rosario Dawson and the guy who plays Elias are the standouts.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Very predictable and sickly hollywood sweet.
The only thing that was funny was the interaction between the Alison and the bitchy producer.
Otherwise, stay away.

Gratuitous female nudity, a smoking hot Jessica Alba and an amusing plot. What's not to love?
The main characters (except for Alba) have no redeeming features and they are pretty much unlikable.
Because of this I can't give it any higher than one star.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
A compelling film on the most compelling people of the last 100 years.
Yes it is long, and yes Will Smith isn't the physical specimen that Ali was, the film does cover the most important parts parts of his life.
Malcom X, George Foreman, Joe Frazier and Cassius Clay Snr all all there.
Would get four stars if the film was 20 minutes shorter.

Crap.

Some real chuckles, but generally the one joke premise wears thin after about 40 minutes.
Although the three funniest characters (played by Craig T. Nelson, Romany Malco and William Fictner) play second fiddle in terms of screen time to Ferrell and Herder - whose mugging for the cameras is pretty much unbearable after 20 minutes.
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Confusing plot and too long.
Action is so start/stop and disjointed that nothing makes sense.
Nothing saves it.
(Don't bother!) - review by Justin
Much better than the first one. Editing was really tight, with very few gaps.
Jeremy Renner is one of the most criminally underrated actors in Hollywood, as he is good in everything (he was also the best actor in SWAT).
Rose Byrne is also very good.
Hard not to say nice things about a film with flamethrowers, helicopters, snipers and zombies.
Worth a go.

The movie equivalent to a five car pile-up. The characters motivations are not made clear, nor are the links between the characters.
Numerous confusing sub-plots just waste more time. At over two hours it is too long.
Give it a miss

A very solid film but not as good as it could have been.
Much better than Danny Boyle's previous offerings like "The Beach" or "A Life Less Ordinary".
Michelle Yeoh, Hiroyuki Sanada and Rose Bryne own this film.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
Crams just about as much as possible into 107 minutes of action.
Casting is spot on, heaps of action and a .50cal Barrett and some very likable characters played by Alicia Keys, Common and Ryan Reynolds.
Spot Matthew Fox (Lost) and Australia Kick Boxing Model/Music Video dancer Janet Edwards.
Also a sensational soundtrack.
(Excellent) - review by Justin
A film with Paul "Fast and Furious" Walker as the son of Archeologist Billy Connelly can't possibly be taken seriously.
Along for the ride is Francis O'Connor, Gerard Butler, Neal McDonough and Rossif Sutherland (Keifer's little brother).
How can this film fail? Pretty easily I guess, with wooden acting, anachronisms and dodgy science.
Why didn't they bring guns?
(Maybe) - review by Justin
Some good lines and some very funny scenes.
But the comedy is not as consistent as that of other great 'frat pack' movies like Anchorman, Starsky and Hutch and Old School.
A shout out to Justin Long who gets hit in the head better than any actor since Chris Farley.
(Worth watching) - review by Justin
Cameron Crowe peaked so early in his career with Say Anything and Singles, that it is almost impossible to watch his later films like Elizabethtown and Vanilla Sky.
John Cusack is the lovable loser who wins over the 'it' girl with a combination of kick boxing skills, goofy charm and a boom box (now a pop culture reference).
One of the best teen/relationship films ever.

Apart from the car/foot chase and Isiah Washington reprising his roles from previous movies: Romeo Must Die, Out of Sight, Exit Wounds, Clockers, Strapped ...

If you liked 'Drumline', 'You Got Served' or 'Bring It On', nothing I say will convince you otherwise.
This film is predictable (I guessed the outcome after 10 minutes!) and scenes range from boring to annoying to unintentional comedy.
It will not surprise me if there is version featuring crumping or breaking or any other type of dance craze coming out soon.
Bring back quality urban films like 8 Mile, Hustle and Flow or Training Day.

Good fun with a predictable plot.
Look out for cameos by Ultimate Fighting Champions - Oleg Taktarov, Tim Sylvia, Pat Miletich, Robbie Lawler and Chuck Liddell.
Also full of "that guys".
Enough action to keep the action fans occupied and enough comedy to keep non-action fans settled.
Good times.

One of the best family oriented action/adventure films made in the last 15-years.
Covers all the possible cliches
- Treasure hunter who lives by his own rules;
- Geeky sidekick;
- Stern but Fair father who is now estranged from the treasure hunting son;
- Evil British baron of industry who will stop at nothing to steal America's hidden treasure; and
- cop with a secret agenda.
With beautiful scenes from frozen glaciers (actually a frozen lake in Minnesota), New York City and Washington DC and Non-Stop action.
Almost perfect.

Some good scenes and very likeable characters/good casting with a huge number of "that guy's":
Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)
Michael Milhoan (he's been in everything)
Mathew Carey ("24" and the heir apparent to Billy Zabka from the Karate Kid as the evil blond nemisis)
Lacey Chabert (Party of Five)
Jaymee Ong (Gen-x Cops and Las Vegas).
Special Kudos to the guy who played the mafia character Vincent Scarno who was the best character out of the lot.

Average Hong Kong Kung Fu movie with some new special effects. Average storyline, corny dialogue and terrible haircuts.
Donnie Yen who is brilliant in Iron Monkey, Once Upon a Time in China II, Hero and Tiger Cage is just chewing the scenery in this one.
Only for the seriously committed.

Riding on the crest of the Hong Kong female action genre (1987 to 1994), this one is actually pretty good.
So laugh out loud sequences (especially the night vision sequences - where everyone is wearing welding goggles) and the twin machete fights.
The only disappointing thing was that Sammo Hung hardly throws a punch or kick in the entire movie.
Pretty good all up.

Gabino Diego is just about the best actor ever to come out of Spain, he has made the wet blanket boyfriend into an art form.

A must for all cycling fans not only does it feature the crash where Jaja piles into a french policeman and Joseba Beloki's career ending crash at the Tour de France, but features the 1993 World Championships where a very young Lance Armstrong storms to victory.
Only misses out on five stars as it doesn't feature the Mario Cipollini crash from the early 1990s where he smashes he face into the road at 70 kms per hour.

What's not to like?
Hot ninja babes, sword techniques which cause your body to explode and an archer whose arrows cut people in half.
Maybe the sugary-sweet subplot and the hero channelling Slvester Stallone's hair cut in Rambo, might put you off.
Not bad.

A plot so full of holes, that you could drive a secret society through it.
Paul Walker again demonstrates that he is the heir-apparent to the Keanu Reeves mantle as the most wooden actor in all of hollywood.

A must for people who love mullets. A couple of things to look out for:

A gritty action film, which pushes all the right cliches:
A disaffected patriot with special skills;
A rookie Government agent who's learning the ropes;
A senior Government official who is only interested in lining his own pockets; and an off-limits love interest that slowly comes around.
All in all a very enjoyable film.

Unlike Biker Boyz or Torque, this film is targetted at 12-year olds. Even the superior motocross photography, can't make up for the cardboard characters and wooden script.
