Quite silly but harmless fun. Much more believable than aliens trying to steal electricity (have you guys heard of the ionosphere?)
Bumbling human sidekicks, beautiful but evil CIA agent, unlikely love story for bumbling human sidekick, exasperated alien who can't quite believe that humans are really this stupid, this movie has all the clich?s but employs them well. Well? In a likeable way may be a better statement.

Was this some sort of weird wish fulfilment? "If I'd run the war a few guys from the good ol' USA would have beat those nazis in six months?" By scalping them individually? The usual Tarantio obsession with blood and death - the more torture the better apparently. An insult to the people who died and those who fought during a grinding six year war against an appalling enemy. I even prefer those bad US ''while we were winning the war for you we stopped to plunder art galleries' movies to this pathetic rewrite history fantasy.
I don't mind the gore in context, more realistic wounding and trauma in war movies might depict just how unglamorous it truly is, although until we can manage the stench, the noise and the feel of a battlefield in the cinema that's a small hope, but this movie was gratuitous nonsense. It could have done with serious editing, it was at least an hour too long for a terribly predictable story.
The one star is for the excellent performances by Waltz and Diehl.

Ah, I see, middle aged fat women are so horrifying that the only way to make the heroine's mother acceptable is to have her played by John Travolta in drag. Yep, way to go reinforcing the tolerance and acceptance messages.
An amusing confection. The bad guys are all WASPs, the quirky and downtrodden are all wonderful, tolerant humanitarians and at the end all is right with the world. I might have enjoyed this more if I weren't a fat middle aged woman, having my general unattractiveness reinforced by a good actor in drag.

This movie claims to have been inspired by "Imperial life in the emerald city", Chandrasekaran's good expos? of the fiasco of the first year in Iraq. If so I doubt that the screen writers understood the book. The movie as a movie was fine, decent plot, not overlong, fairly good acting. But how on earth could you claim the CIA as the good guys? Next they'll produce something about misunderstood analysts saving the world and claim it's inspired by "Legacy of Ashes". If you like improbable fictional heroes enjoy this, if you want to know what actually happened, read.

Fun, clever series about politics at the local level. Doesn't take much to stretch apply the themes to all politics though.

turgid

Don't bother. The special effects remain good. IR one had this man produce an extrordinary piece of technology locked in a shed in the desert. This time a russian manages the same in a shed in siberia. Sorry?

Not particularly funny, nor clever. The talents of Travolta and Williams are not used in this plodding formulaic piece.

(Spoilers) Silly but fun. I do want to know exactly how old the leading man has to be to stop getting the girl. 80? If she were 75 I'd be quite happy, but 25? Same comment for red which is very much the same.

Very good if a bit long, interwove the aging veteran's lonliness with the alienation of the immigrant teenager with compassion.

As with the book this movie needed a good editor, in fact any editor.

1 or 2 mildly interesting sceens but very poor quality sound and image production make this film a waste of time

really enjoy this series, why is that the self deprecating humour and ironic touches only ever seems to work when it isn't the USA making the series?

not bad for Mr Cruise. drags on a little but reasonable well paced. story a little far fetched but sort of fun.

fun but surprisingly dated. In this first season they are still learning the trade.

Cages dour delivery really only worked once, in bringing out the dead. Pity he has no other character. Rest of the cast unremarkable, Michael Caine performs in workman-like fashion.

least satisfying yet.
