Good premise but doesn't deliver.

Okay. Some folks, especially guys, will love it I reckon.

Sweet. simple, funny film. Animation looks great. Good story, easy to follow for the kids.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Looks good. Lots of action and noise. Just not very fulfilling action and noise.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Kind of pointless. Could have been so much better.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A guilty pleasure.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Oh so bad. Gave it a chance to see if it was better than the first one. It wasn't.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Very well written and performed. Moving. Funny. Sadly, Seth Rogen plays the same character again.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Meh. Okay. Typical teen slasher film.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Really lacks what the first film had that made it so good.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Tight. Fast paced. Great end.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A good film in a sense with a lead character that's difficult to like.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Funny, clever, and well made.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Typical Garry Marshall ensemble does well.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Funny. Whimsical. Kids might love it. Julia is delicious.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
I really thought this was a stunning film with brilliant performances. It's not your typical storyline. Just brilliant.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
Looks good. Fine performances.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Tense, brilliantly acted film. You don't need to be a "shaes/stock market" genius to get it.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
I had not read the books, but I found this really disappointing. Solutions to conflict were just too easy.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Kind of funny and sweet. Great dialogue. Good performances.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
So bad. Lacks imagination. Would give half a star if I could. It's one thing to use an old story to inspire your own, but to just blatantly rip it off by swapping a whale for a dragon, it's way too bad.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Good fun with the very likable Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd and some funny cameos. JA is at her best in this.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film. Kinda fun.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Woah. And not in a good way. Great cast. Massive budget. Bad storyline with a typical Hollywood set up that tries to replicate the successes of Titanic and Armageddon.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Not so much scary as creepy but still a good film on such a minuscule budget. Don't expect it to be like the Paranormal Activity and you should enjoy it.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Tense and riveting with a storyline beyond action/horror.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Much better than the first one. Impressive sfx!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Action packed, opulent and well executed but no masterpiece.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Quite moving, poignant and well acted.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Funny, crass and predictable. Better than expected.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Seemed quite pointless really.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Good, harmless fun with a surprisingly comedic job by Dwayne Johnson. The premise is undone by completely unrealistic plot twists.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A very intelligent, honest film with a very real story.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A sweet little film that harms no one. Feel good. Seems to arrive at its conclusion easily.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Bad writing. Bad dialogue. Bad direction. Bad cosmetic surgery! Bad way to spend an hour and a half.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Sweet family film. Great score. Beautiful to watch.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Some pretty poor dialogue and editing. Meh.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Good fun. Sexy. Great talent.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Reading the screenplay first ruined this for me. Great premise though.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Surprisingly good film with a strong story that doesn't get too schmaltzy. Hugh Jackman does a fine performance. Sounds and looks great!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Less humans and more chipmunks makes this more fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A found footage kind of film, but still feels fresh. Strong characters. Very real life issues impacting on a pop corn movie theme turn this film into something a little bit more than the usual fare.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Quietly funny, until Eddie Murphy arrives, when it becomes laugh out loud funny. Good story. Good characters. Ben Stiller is quite bareable in this.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Enjoyed this much more than the critics and audiences in general. Not brilliant. Some very two dimensional characters. Worked the suspense well.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Seems to alter its trajectory in the second act, and not for the better. Eventually brings the film full circle and resolves nicely. Not the masterpiece I was expecting. Can see why Hollywood loved it though, with it's homage to original film making.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Often funny. A lot of toilet humor. Well performed. Predictable and unrealistic, but suspend disbelief and go with it. Comes up with quite a touching story in the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not as good as the first. Lacks clarity in plot. Too many fight scenes, which the director seems obsessed with. Very well filmed. Great effects.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Good film in the underworld series. Nice to see Selene back for the whole film.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Hark my childhood and all the muppet memories! Top job! Though I did want more feistiness from Miss Piggy, her initial scenes (ala The Devil Wears Prada, with Emily Blunt cameo) were good fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Deeply unsettling, with an annoyingly discordant theme in the score. Very well performed. But seriously, I don't care if the kid was born like that - discipline the damn thing!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
I thought this was a brilliant performance by Meryl Streep. Absolutely brilliant! Don't believe the film was as kind to Thatcher as some critics/audiences made out.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Very, very few laugh out loud moments, which is a pain given the trailer made it look hilarious. Ironically funny, yes. Uncomfortable at times. But performed brilliantly.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Tight film with plenty of action and scares.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Well made spin off from the Shrek franchise that doesn't quite live up to the hilarity and cleverness of its parent. Humpy Dumpty is the funniest character but not up to Donkey!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Fresh take on alien invasion that really does well!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A good film with a very strange mash up of, well, cowboys and aliens. Handsome cast. Great effects.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Extremely well made film full of action that gets better as it goes along.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Really enjoyed this! Sumptuous in sound and vision. Great special effects! Filmed in Australia and you would never know it - beautifully filmed with a very talented cast. You can definitely see the influence of Guillermo del Toro (writer & producer) on this.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Sweet film. Handsome cast. Emotional. A nice change.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film. Good to see Matthew doing something more interesting than the usual rom com for which he has become more known for.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Way too long and just didn't hit its stride. A whole heap of talent that seems more distracting and confusing than anything.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Good, intriguing film with good performances. Didn't pack the punch I had hoped for, but quite probably because I had read the screenplay before hand. That being said, it was more riveting on the page than on the screen.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Good fun but not great. Good "girls night in" type of film.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very b-grade, which is a shame, cause there's talent here...
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Not bad. Lacking in suspense. I spent half the time wondering what everyone was saying - sound not good.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Surprising good. Good cast. Suspenseful. Well acted. Some poor dialogue. But otherwise not too bad.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Could not watch it all. Nothing redeemable about it. Nothing lyrical or beautiful. Just ugly, barren tale about murder.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Sweet. Funny. Good vehicle for Neil Patrick Harris to have some fun in. Just doesn't kick the goals excpected. Kids might love it.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Petered out by the end after a promising start. Not enough Jennifer Aniston even though you get more of her than you've ever seen before - she was the best thing about this film!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Cringed more often than I laughed.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Kids will probably love it. Music is good - lots of Elton John, which can be either a good thing and a bad thing, but here is a good thing.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
It's an intriguing and relatively fast paced film, but it stumbles in the second half and that is pretty much due to the absence of one of the actors! If I hadn't already read the screenplay I fear I might not have been able to follow it as much as I did. Some elements just weren't as effective and for the most part ended up not making sense.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Look it's no great masterpiece, and it does follow the tried and true storyline of romantic comedies, but it is refreshing to see Anna Faris in a role that isn't utterly slapstick, and it's great, as always, to see Chris Evans in next to nothing! He is a good actor too, but puh-lease!!!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Yes it's predictable but it's still not a bad film. Good looking cast. Well played.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film. Not as "edge of your seat" trhilling as hoped for. Not much of Joel Edgerton as there could have been. But still a good couple of hours.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A well filmed movie that is moody and viciously graphic! Not for the weak of stomach! Very tense.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
As a prequel this one is better than the second one. Important to remember this film is set before the second one, which is set before the first one. Packs more of a punch than the number two.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Would have been a better film if it weren't for Nicholas Cage - I just can't get past him in films these days. Otherwise a pretty goodwill - better than expected!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Think I enjoyed this more than Captain America, which I didn't expect. Ryan Reynolds is very easy to watch. Good special effects.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A good enough film with good performances. Nothing to write home about but not a bad film.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Colin Farrell plays a good role. Hot cast. Good effects.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Actually quite a good film, with some quite moving scenes. No surprises, but a good time.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Starts off well enough, but the special effects are a bit ordinary and the "deaths" were just not as intricate and spectacular as the first films.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very entertaining, often funny, even if it is predictable. Good cast!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Always try to have low expectations with gay cinema so as not to be dissappointed. But this film is really quite moving and funny at times. Great performances by the young cast, particularly the character of Leah!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Quite a visually impressive film. Very european. But very entertaining as well.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film. Kids would like it. Kind of predictable and not as funny as hoped.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A really good film, with plenty of action and story. No dull moments. Sets up the franchise really well!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Oh God I can't believe I suffered through this! Kids under six might find it entertaining. Such a poorly made film!
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
It starts off well but kind of gets too sentimental and patriotic. Chris Evans is pure perfection in terms of eye candy. Hugo Weaving plays a really good role!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Was so promising but really just isn't great on most points. Poor dialogue. Poor sound. Great cast wasted!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A better film than the first one, with a very moving story, beautifully animated, with a deliciously evil antagonist.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Really a pretty good film, albeit as predictable as the rom coms they lampoon in the story. Justin Timberlake is actually a pretty good actor! Lots of nudity!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
So could have found something better to do with my time. Barely redeemable film where most of the time I was wondering would the likes of Kevin James or Vince Vaughan, actually have wives such as Winona Ryder or Jennifer Connelly in real life?
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film but it just seemed to take too long to get started. Not as good as the Sean Penn and Nicole Kudman thriller The Interpreter.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A very thrilling film with great performances from the cast. Proof that good films can be made from small budgets and that horror/thrillers don't need special effects wizardry to keep you on the edge of your seat!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Just doesn't have the oomph I was hoping for. Interesting to see the beginnings for the characters. The scene with Hugh Jackman was kinda fdunny, but ultimately distracting.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
About as good as most of the Marvel movies. Good special effects though. Kind of anti climactic but probably only because the earlier scenes are so damn spectacular!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A very good film for adults and kids, with a very real feel (as per the director's homage) to Steven Speilberg's earlier films like ET and Close Encounters....
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Rounds out the Harry Potter story perfectly. A brilliantly grand, stunning film.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
Better than the first two if you ask me. But do they have to make the sexy female character so bloody obvious? The character is nothing but big lips and other parts of the female anatomy. Serves no purpose whatsoever!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A very good film, with a clever premise. You got to keep your wits about you.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Better than the third one, not that it would have taken much to better that one. But really pretty good.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not as freaky as the first one, but not bad either. A lot of waiting for the big boo but didn't find it.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Fits well into the Scream franchise and while that means it isn't a brilliant film, it is enjoyable.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
It gets a bit irritating, not to mention predictable, but it has some laugh out loud moments. And the child actors are funny. You just wanna smash Owen Wilson's character though!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A fast paced film with some hints of Independence Day, but on a much smaller scale. Effects good. Some dodgy dialogue. But otherwise a pretty good film.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
From the creators of the Ice Age films, this doesn't quite live up to the reputation. It's fun and entertaining, but few laugh out loud moments. Kids will love it!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Kind of good. Well performed. Predictable and possibly too schmaltzy at the end. It's easy to watch Jennifer Aniston and she works well.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Great cast in a film that could be thirty minutes shorter and doesn't make a whole lot of sense most of the time! Not completely bad though!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A very intriguing film that does have you guessing!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Look, it's funny in places, and sick in a lot of others, but what's really wrong with this film is that it's just not that well written. It's all too screw ball for the juxtaposition of modern low-brow comedy and period costume drama.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Beautifully filmed and packs quite a punch with graphic representation of Ralston's entrapment in the cave and his isolation. James Franco performs very well in an intricately nuanced performance.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Not bad film with some hot stars to watch! Entertaining way to spend an hour and a half.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
It's good, but not great. Kids may love it.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Starts off quite well, yet the second half lets it down. Horror creators need to learn something from James Cameron's Aliens and that is that less is more....
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Brilliantly performed by Portman. This film isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn close to it! Again, Portman is brilliant, particularly in the final scenes where she proves why she got the Oscar!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
Okay but not brilliant.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very well put together and often funny in a silly way. although one imagines the creators let Russell Brand improvise some of his stuff and it works well. Definitely for kids - the whole Easter Bunny "sled" is really silly. And it feels uncomfortable watching James Marsden give it his all in this! Hope they paid him well!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very moving story, exceptionally acted by Bullock. Never felt like it descended into melodrama.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Very enjoyable, albeit slow to get going. Intriguing premise. Not to be watched when you just want to veg out!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very subtle, yet extremely evocative. I thoroughly enjoyed this film despite the themes, which could leave some people feeling quite gloomy.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Silly, funny, predictable, but fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
As predictable as all rom-coms these days. Really wondering what an actress of the calibre of Natalie Portman is doing in a film like this - must have paid her a lot to do it!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Intense and rivetting, but ending was predictable. Not entertaining.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Cold have been a lot better! The talented cast needed a lot more from the script. Fun in places but silly. Predictable and not very original.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A bit confusing at around the fifteen minute mark, but stay with it. Looks and sounds great. Awesome soundtrack!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Watched the unrated version - not safe for kids - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Funny. Smart. Stupid in all the right ways, with some funny kudos paid to other sci fi films, especially Aliens. Loved it!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
This is a beautiful film with a brilliantly nuanced, often subtle, and very human performance by Nicole Kidman.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
The director of Twilight does for werewolves what Twilight did for vampires - takes away the fear. The film looks good, and it has a very talented and handsome cast, but the writing (bad dialogue) and editing (lack of suspense) let it down big time.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Weird little film, but entertaining. Often funny and touching.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
So not what I hoped it would be.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
So could have spent two hours doing something more enjoyable!
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Really enjoyed this. Good Australian production. Caitlin Stacey does a great job, but is let down (as is the rest of the cast) by some poor dialogue.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Brilliant film with a brilliantly talented young cast!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Some real laugh out loud moments despite the predictability. Really good fun. More for the guys than the ladies. Definitely not for the kids!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Starts off very impressively, and has a powerful story to tell around some pretty emotional themes, however it really lags somewhere in the middle and ends up feeling way too long!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
The film isn't as scary as you might have been lead to believe, in fact it's more of a thriller than a horror. Anthony Hopkins again proves why he is renowned as brilliant! The film's climax shows Hopkins at his finest, menacing, no holds barred, evil and maniacal!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very raw and honest documentary in a year in the life of Joan Rivers. Very funny! Very touching.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Intriguing, but too long in the middle. Good performances.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Good, heart racing film with convincing performances from all.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A wonderful film from start to finish. Funny, moving and well crafted.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A really entertaining, well acted, often funny, shoot em up film. Great to see some older generation actors kicking butt!!!! Great fun!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A deeply moving and evocative film. Had to wipe the tears a few times. Very powerful!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A good film. Looks nice. Very well acted by some of the young cast.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
This movie was so much more than I had expected. Funny. Sweet. Romantic. Honest. Great performances from both Gyllenhaal and Hathaway. Plenty of nudity!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film. Well shot. I felt it was a bit over acted.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Awful. Just awful.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
This film looks great, but I had a hard time believing Ned Kelly was a complete hero.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
For a Jennifer Lopez film this was actually very funny and entertaining!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
More of the same with an anticlimactic ending.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Entertaining and light, with a good story. A good laugh.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
I fail to see what everyone saw in this film. I gave it an hour and turned it off. So shoot me!
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Camp, lighthearted and silly, I enjoyed this despite fears over what it would be like given some of Jack Black's other performances like Year One!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very different but intriguing and enjoyable twist on the story of earth being invaded by extraterrestrials.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A really entertaining and well crafted film, with some fantastic songs (although not a musical)! Great fun!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Much better than a lot of critics claimed. It's a good looking film, and you're thinking the whole way through. It's not Best Picture stuff, but it's still a really good couple of hours!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A good time to be had even if it is predictable. Tell me, is Diane Keaton just playing the same role over and over these days?
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Quite disappointing in the end. Doesn't seem to make sense a lot of the time such as the point for why he does what he does in the first exorcism. The ending was just too easy and reminded me of something out of Days of Our Lives when Marlena got possessed by the devil!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
After The Half Blood Prince, this one seems to pale. I felt I needed to have watched THBP right before seeing this one, as there's very little catch up at all. Promises big things of the final film in the franchise!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Beautifully filmed, extremely well cast, with a few laughs and quite a moving story about the man who never wanted to be King but got thrust into it when his older brother abdicated. Firth deserved his Oscar!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Good film. Well acted. Pay close attention though, cause the information comes thick and fast. Perfect length!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
One of the weakest in the series. Someone needed to get a few more takes with some of the acting too!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A film that actually doesn't make a lot of sense. The absence of lying seems to make people give details they wouldn't normally talk about and say things they would never normally say, whether it's lying or not.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Funny and entertaining, but not brilliant. Will Ferrel and David Cross are great voice talent.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A well made and entertaining tale about an involuntary time travelling man who falls in love with a woman he meets as a girl in one of his time travels. Erica Bana and Rachel McAdams are really good in this. Actually quite moving.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Could have definitely been shorter and less predictable. Not entirely satisfying despite the cast and director.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Ahead of it's time given this film was made before 9/11. Good film, however I didn't find the end satisfying.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
By no means a great film, and not original at all, but funny to start with before it just got boring. The actress playing "Becca Sullen" does a really good job at ripping off Kristen Stewart!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Nowhere near as funny as the trailer would like you to believe, but a touching film, albeit it with a predictable ending. Jason Bateman plays well against a standout child star in the makiing.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Action packed, some stunts that will require almost total suspension of disbelief, but otherwise a pretty good film. Intriguing plot will keep you guessing, hopefully.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Extremely well written and directed film. Fast moving, intelligent. Great cast!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Good film in the Resident Evil series. Had to rack my brain to remember the third one. Good fun!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Funny. Poignant. Sick. Everything you'll love if you liked The Hangover (but don't expect The Hangover)
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Quite funny in parts, and not as predictable as expected. Very good performance from Barrymore, of whom I am not usually a big fan. Long is good too. Christina Applegate steals the show in her scenes.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not an "entertaining" film, but well acted and honest. Might be too real for some people!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Not a bad film as ghost/horrow stories go. The premise of why they move into the house is well done. Strong character arcs for a horror.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Fast paced, funny and looks and sounds great! Quite well put together, really. Turn it up, suspend disbelief, and sit back!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Good, harmless, fun film. I should have just said "Disney film" shouldn't I? But, actually, it's better than I had expected.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
It's not brilliant but it's good. 8 year old kids would like it.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Big, intriguing, gorgeous looks and amazing sound, this film is a thinker but an awesome ride!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
Great writing, but not the best thing I've seen lately.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
I would much rather watch entirely computer generated animals than real ones made to talk with CGI. Worse still, the stiff and jolting movements of a half naked dog built out of animatronics! Kitty Galore, voiced by Bette Midler, and a very Hannibal Lecter Tickles voiced by Sean Hayes, are the standouts!
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Somewhat predictable and does not necessarily make sense (to me anyway) near the end. Not what I thought it would be.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Often very funny, with some hilarious "video clips" for songs by Jackie Q played by Rose Byrne. A little slow at the end, but otherwise a really good film. Rose Byrne and Russell Brand sing all the songs! Get the soundtrack now and listen to the lyrics - absolute filth, but absolute hilarity!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
This a good, feel-good film, very romantic, and probably schmaltzy in a lot of people's eyes. What left a bad taste in my mouth was that of all the adult couples in this film, only the gay male couple didn't get to kiss. Typical Hollywood!!!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf and The Polar Express were brilliant. This film really didn't do it for me. The revisioning of this well known story, while looking brilliant, just didn't do it for me.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very good film, albeit not as entertaining as I hoped it would be. Strong, nuanced performances by all.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Good film, with some sweet storylines. Kids will love it.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Absolutely loved this movie! Very well crafted, with a great story and lots of laughs. Love the minions! Make sure you check out all the extras, including the short films! Brilliant!
(Not to be missed!) - review by Matthew
Actually, and surprisingly, much better than feared. Funny even if sometimes it just doesn't make sense. But overall a good couple of hours.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Was okay. EFX were better than average. Liked the premise of Freddy's creation. Predictable ending.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Tacky and stupid, without realism - but funny in a kind of b-grade horror way. Never seen so many naked breasts in one film!!!!!
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Better than all the haters said. Kind of weird, zany, but sweet by the end of it. Actually has a very good message in it about being true to yourself.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very ordinary.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
A film from a script written by its star, which could have used a few rewrites before going into production. Funny, but some of it just doesn't make sense.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very tense film about the last known attempt by the Germans to assassinate Hitler towards the end of WWII. Knowing the outcome doens't help, but it's still a pretty good film. It could just be my dislike of Tom Cruise, but I found it difficult to sympathise with his character. It could also be the way the film is written/directed - the film assumes you know Hitler is the bad guy, which of course we do, but some of his attrocities may have helped to increase the impact of the film, shown just what the main characters were fighting for - what was the cost to them if they failed? What was their "drammatic need?"
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Cheesy and often over-acted by the leads, but ends with having had a few belly laughs. Had to rewind the last scene and watch it again!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
As predictable as Hollywood can be. And far too many gay jokes for my liking.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Fun and action packed.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A much better film than Shrek The Third, with a really strong story, funny moments, and happy ending. Rumplestiltskin is devilishly brilliant!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Very well acted and quite a tense film. Great cast! The actors playing the children do a terrific job!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Very well crafted film, quite tense throughout, but a little long.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Very predictable. Left me wondering why anyone thought Gerard Butler could pull off a romantic comedy! Heigl is funny.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
I actually found this quite disappointing compared to expectations. An okay film, nothing horrible about it. Just nothing terribly exciting about it either.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Harmless, Disney fun. Jake looks like he's having fun, which is entertaining. Wondered in a few scenes if the creators at Disney weren't trying to create another franchise like the Pirates of the Carribean.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Good film. Fun. Action packed. Great story. Really well done!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Sweet, fun film, created very much for the kids, with some delightfully over the top performances.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Typical, predictable Hollywood fodder despite what seems like an original premise.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Intriguing but quite often just doesn't make sense.

A distinctive and well made film from director Wes Anderson, with the kind of quick witted dialogue we have become accustomed to in his films. Very well made with a great story about achieving despite perceptions about our capacity to do so.

An intriguing story, and well acted, only thing is that I kept struggling to hear Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone they were mumbling so much!!!

Very good film made in Australia, with a welcome alternate premise about Vampires surviving in a world where the supply of human blood is quickly diminishing!

A very well acted film, top cast. Looks good, sounds great. Not boring. Great dialogue.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
A well made film, with a great cast, but just not as rivetting for me as I thought it would be.

Actually very well done, with great dialogue and action scenes that didn't bore the crap out of me. Downer Jnr. again proves just why his career has had such a successful resurgence, playing the brilliantly nuanced Holmes to perfection. Jude Law is very good, as is Rachel McAdams. You gotta think quick, as some of the information comes through the dialogue very quickly. Great score by Hans Zimmer.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Graphic almost to the point obscene. I just could not get invested in the characters. Sure, their expression of self is pretty full on, but I felt so beyond it, so out of reach. The themes are so subtle as to be hardly there. The best part of the film was the first scene, the "prologue". After that it just deteriorated.
(Don't bother!) - review by Matthew
Okay for a laugh. Kids would love it. Wendy Malick is good.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Not as good as I had hoped it would be, nor as good as it could have been. Loved the underlying theme of escaping reality by living through a robotic avatar, particular Willis' onscreen wife's escape from her grief over the death of a child.

I actually found this film to be better than I feared it might be. Could just be my morbid curiosity with what happens to the body in a funeral home, but having been drawn to the film by the cast, I was quite impressed.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
First half hour not to my liking - too much shooting and stylised "martial" violence. If the first half was as good as the second half, this would have been a much better film. Some people will love it.

Looks good on all fronts, from stars to scenery. Twists keep it intriguing. End seemed poorly written. Set in the forestst of Hawaiin islands I just couldn't help but to keep expecting a T-rex or a Velociraptor to come out and gobble them up!

Kind of different, and strange. But not awful.

I love Peter O'Toole but this film actually had me cringing and turning away. Great cast and some awesome performances, but the "sexualised" relationship between the two lead characters just grossed me out.

Not a bad film, but not great either. More than anything I think Jim Carrey just distracts from the story and isn't quite believable as Zooey Deschanel's boyfriend.

Very violent but probably the best Gerard Butler film yet (I know that's probably not saying much). Intriguing moral premise though!

Harmless, mindless, sometimes fun, cheap thrill in the mould of countless other sexy college kids getting slaughtered.

I think the preview misrepresented this film and after twenty minutes I was ready to turn it off. Watched it right through, not impressed at all. Not entertaining.

A good gothic horror in the manner of Dracula. Anthony Hopkins is as good as ever. Hugo Weaving performs brilliantly.

Not as much fun as the original, and I wasn't too fussed with that film either. Entertaining, but could have been twenty minutes shorter.

I'm not going to give anything away, but it is a very different kind of film in the way it's presented, however this works really well for it. Quite a thrilling story and some scenes may make you jump!

Look, it was entertaining at first, but became very predictable. I was actually wondering what happened with the direction - for a Garry Marshall film it left a lot to be desired!

Pretty ordinary to start with, but really got fun when Rhino (the hamster in the plastic ball brilliantly voiced by Mark Walton) arrived on the scene. Mittens, the cat, is well done by Susie Essman.

Regardless of the cast was a bit of a disappointment.

Dark, moody, well filmed reteling of the famous book. Ben Barnes is great (not to mention gorgeous) as Dorian. I don't think it went into Dorian's awful deeds as much as it could have.

Robert Downey Jnr is brilliant, but the film as a whole tended to fade out by the end. Not a cliched movie, like some of these can be, but not entirely enjoyable. Loved the music though!

This is a film I don't think I was in the right frame of mind for. It's not entertaining, as much as it is thrilling and disarming. Sam Rockwell is brilliant. The story requires good concentration. Three years on the moon with Gerty would drive me in sane - that voice is so unemotional! But as I watched this film I found myself becoming more and more moved by the utter desolation of a character who has all he has held on to removed from him.

Um. Very funny film, although not quite as hilarious as many have said. I wouldn't put it up as one of the best films of the year, as some have, but it's still above average for this kind of film. Zach Galifianakis gets the best of the laughs and Ken Jeong is also quite hilarious in his few short scenes.

Not as good as it's original two predecessors, but still a thrill ride. Sam Worthington steals the show over Christian Bale, who plays the hero John Connor, with somewhat less of what it was that made us like him in the first place. But still a good ride.

The thing with Indiana Jones movies is you have to suspend disbelief - and The Crystal Skull is no different! These films have always been tongue in cheek, and if you let yourself enjoy this one you will. It's thrilling and exciting, even if a bit silly in places. Cate Blanchett is a good addition as is Shia Lebouf.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
With a cast like this one, it's a shame this film wasn't better than it turned out to be. I think I wanted more from pretty much all the characters. Michelle Pfeiffer plays her part so well it's pretty difficult, well it was for me anyway, to have any empathy with her at all.

Smart, beautifully shot film, with clever performances by Roberts and Owen. Very entertaining.

Thoroughly entertaining, quirky, and some great laugh-out-loud moments! This was one we sat down and watched on a Sunday night, chose at the last minute, and were really grateful that we saw it! Would watch again!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Okay, so it's kinda scary, but it borrows too much from other horror films and has a script that makes its characters say some stupidly obvious things.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Entertaining but not a classic. Story's very simple, which is great for the kids, but adults may find it boring.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
This is entertaining but the story never seems to climax, and the threads you expect to develop further just don't. But entertaining.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
This film is way too long, and the story is so complex it's hard to follow at times. Not what I thought it was going to be, but entertaining anyway. Good visual effects.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
There is something utterly watchable about this film, even though you really have to search to find something likeable about the main characters, Nicole Kidman disappears into her role superbly, and it's great to see Jenniffer Jason Leigh as her sister. Jack Black plays a dramatic role very well! I found this very rewarding!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Okay, so this was entertaining and intriguing on an intellectual level to some degree, what with the whole "legacy" theme, however I felt unsatisfied by the ending and couldn't understand why they had Mira Sorvino as Robin Williams's girlfriend! As for the ending, I thought the "big story" that was developing would have been the climax, not the ending that it was.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Thoroughly entertaining take on the romantic comedy, with very talented cast. It's never too schmaltzy, and does have some very funny moments. Tea Leoni and Ricky Gervais are great as people who seem enormously opposite in personalities but end up attracted to each other. It has hints of As Good As It Gets, but this isn't a problem.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
This is a stunning film, with very memorable performances by the cast. Cate Blanchett stands out, as does Oscar nominee for her role Taraji P. Henson as Benjamin's 'mama' Queenie. Possibly a bit too long.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Heart breaking, beautifully told and visualised story of pianist's experience as a Jew in WWII Warsaw. Adrien Brody is magnificent!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
A very funny, laugh-out-loud kind of film, with as much gratuity as you can get out of a well made, great cast Hollywood comedy without being just plain revolting. I was laughing all the way through, and wasn't ready for it to end. If you can't handle nudity or swearing this film is not for you!
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
I was so looking forward to this, and it was so good until a certain part towards the end, which I won't give away, but has to do with something coming from the sky, which, although in itself could be accepted as part of the story, but the SFX design of it just sucked. Petty, I know, but it just lost it for me after that. It became too fantastical.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Okay so you know pretty early on this one is not oriented around the real world. So, that done, it's a good film. The best part is Bradley Cooper (of course!), however it does end a bit like an X Files episode. Definitely not for the weak of stomach (even I had to cover my face with a cushion in one scene) and definitely not for anyone under the age of 18!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
It's entertaining but not as funny as the trailer implied. It looks gorgeous, and has a fairy tale feel to it, but with a underwhelming voice cast it just didn't live up to expectations. The vegetable-man did not make sense at all!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
I have never been "into" Woody Allen, but he does turn in a good performance here; it's actually quite subtly brilliant I suppose. But this film does not float or rock my boat. Scarlett Johansen, whom I like a lot, seems to have needed a couple more takes on some scenes, and Hugh Jackman really doesn't cut it for me in any area other than looks. Besides that, I wanted more Charles Dance! However, this film didn't really satisfy me. The plot of the ghost of a celebrated journalist happening upon a student journalist and giving her the clues to the biggest "scoop", that being that Jackman's character might be the infamous Tarot Card Killer, is nowhere as intriguing as it could have been. And while I can often enjoy subtle comedy with the best of them, I just found this film didn't know what it wanted to be - comedy or thriller. It would have worked well as a thriller, but the absence of common sense in a lot of scenes just let it down. As an actor, I think Woody puts in a very fine performance here, but as director, well it could have been an episode of Midsommer Murders.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Very simple but very funny in parts. The second half is a bit boring, with not as many laughs. The CGI effects to create the three chipmunks is very well done, with Theodore being absolutely heartbreakingly cute! The plot was formulaic, but otherwise the film was very enjoyable with some very laugh out loud moments!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
As good as the first two, with a story that sets up those same films and also gives us the chance of more sequels! Yay!

Very entertaining film with good performances by all. Charlize Theron and Will Smith make a good pairing. Was disappointed that it ended!
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Whoever cast this did a poor job, given the lead actress is pretty awful. Besides that, and the fact some stuff just doesn't make sense in this film, and it feels contrived, this has its moments. Cam Gigandet and Gary Oldman are welcome but wasted.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
Well acted and directed film. Good performances all around. Got a little confused in the beginning, but it all made sense by the end.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Fantastically acted film with top performances by the adult cast. I loved the dialogue in this, and the imagery. It packs a punch. Not a theme for the faint hearted, but a rewarding tale about doubt and how it's devestating effects can be so wide reaching.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
I struggled at the start with this one, almost turning it off about fifteen minutes in. I just wasn't in the mood for alcoholics. But, I stayed with it. And I wasn't too sure what the film was trying to be, either black comedy or family drama. I love Joan Allen, so she makes the film easy to watch, even if it's hard to sympathise with her character. Kevin Costner, I could leave behind. The girls, as Allen's daughters, are well acted but I was left wanting more of them in the film and less of their miserable mother. I have to say, I did work out the ending about half way through. And the dinner with Shep caught me unawares - I had to go back and watch it again.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
This is a brilliant film, with an exceptionally brilliant performance by Sean Penn. It is a profound performance by Penn, rightfully getting him his second best actor Oscar this year, as well as an Oscar to Dustin Lance Black, who wrote the film.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
Thoroughly entertaining film about the celebrated children's books author. The film is gorgeously shot and well acted. The animations on paper of Beatrix's characters such as Peter Rabbit, Gemima Puddleduck and others, are seemless and add to the beauty of the story. Somewhat predictable and perhaps a little quick? Definitely worth a watch, though, for young and old. It shows what a wonderful human being Beatrix Potter was, as well as being a celebrated author.
(Excellent) - review by Matthew
It dragged a bit in the middle, but this one is worth it for the powerful performance of Billy Crudup as the male actor in the 1600's who plays women until actresses are allowed on the stage by the King's decree (played fantastically by Rupert Everett who proves he can play more than Julia Robert's or Madonna's gay best friend). Tom Wilkinson is wasted. Not Claire Dane's best work until you see the final scenes.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
It's entertaining, but it's way too long. Ginnifer Goodwin is great, Jennifer Conelly well played, and there's not enough of Jennifer Aniston. But it could have been at least half an hour shorter than it's two hours.
(Maybe) - review by Matthew
This is a very good film, however it lagged for me in the second half. I was also disappointed that the director made it all seem lovey-dovey at the ending with the family riding out of Versailles as if into hiding, when in reality the end was much, much more gruesome.

(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
It looks good, and it's entertaining, but my earth did not stand still! The "humans can't save themselves from themselves" themes were so blatant it was bordering on sanctimonious. However, it passed a couple of hours.
Jaden Smith (Will and Jada's son) turns in a very good performance playing Connelly's orphaned stepson (both his parents are dead, his mother dying when he was younger, and his father dying after marrying Conelly's character).
I have to wonder what Kathy Bates was doing in this film, because the role she plays is not great. Maybe they waved a wad of cash in front of her. There have been better roles in other movies for the power-house female government honcho.

Sweet, touching, and entertaining film, not to be watched if you are getting over the loss of a dog.

Sounds good, has a pretty good score, but for the most part I was wondering what the hell was going on. Okay, I understand the premise of the story of Diesel's character having to get this girl to New York, but who he is and where he's from and why the hell should he bother is all pretty up in the air until too far into the movie. Some background on his character would have been nice.

Was in Tasmani just days before watching this film, so it envoled an extra sense of "thrill", but the last third of the film just disintegrates into cheap, cliched horror. But entertaining none-the-less.

Quite a good movie, albeit not the most intellectual (quite like the books), but still good. Gorgeous cast and visually pleasing. The second half of the film seems rushed, but would watch again definitely.

Saw V improves a lot on its predecessor, which I felt was a pretty ordinary film. This one has Jigsaw in it a lot more. A lot of gore, and I mean A LOT! If you survive the first five minutes you should be right for the rest of the film. The script was a bit ordinary - some of the lines were very B grade at best.
(Worth watching) - review by Matthew
Lavish and thoroughly enjoyable retelling of the 80's mini series, which I have not seen, so can draw neither positive or negative comparisons. The cast of this film are gorgeous and very talented. The ending scenes could have been a bit clearer. Overall, great. Wanted more of Ben Wishaw and found Emma Thompson surprisingly underplayed her part, which is probably better than a screaming lunatic of an old, stiff arisocratic woman.

Sweet, entertaining tale of a young 17 1/2 year old boy, controlled by by an overbearing religious mother and withdrawn father, and how he finds himself through his work with a retired, eccentric and tragic actress. Very well acted, especially by Julie Walters. Rupert Grint plays the the role of the teenage boy well, showing his talent will last longer than the Harry Potter series of films. A very entertaining film.

Oh my God I could kill the woman Diane Keaton plays in this film! If she was my mother I'd have to have her removed! Meddlesome beyond belief, this woman is pathalogical! How her daughters allow her to get away with it is beyond belief, even a daughter who is a psychologist! Now the daughters are played well, as is the rest of the cast, even if the story is a wee bit predictable and cliched. However, I fear Diane Keaton has played the same role too many times in a movie, these days. The similarities between the characters in this film and, say, Something's Gotta Give, is crazy. She needs to tone down the idiosyncrasies of her characters, or change them somewhat. And what's with pants and scarves all the time? Not a bad film, but pretty formulaic.

Well crafted, stylish film with great performances. I was incensed by the injustice shown to the Duchess - a woman of her own mind who, when her husband takes mistress after mistress and even has one move in with them, she takes her own lover, a man she truly loved, only to have a cruel, soul-destroying ultimatum put upon her.
