Trying to do this when pregnant was never going to work. Turning it into a soap opera doesn't make it better. A good idea dying a natural TV death.

These are light hearted but interesting non the less. An enjoyable watch.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Typical discovery channel rubbish.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is absolutely appalling. There is a complete lack of understanding of the medium being used. You cannot read a book on TV and simply call it a documentary. The material is shallow and perfunctory. Tedious and boring, avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Woeful spaghetti fantasy of an ancient classic. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not as I thought it would be. Getting Mr Wilson to act the goat was not particularly funny. More of the drives and the cars less trying to make a comedy, which this producer and director have no talent for.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Funnier than the first series.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Amusing but not funny.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Low production values, high on repetition, low on content. Avoid.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
You cannot talk about Darwin without mentioning evolution but you can talk about evolution without talking about the bible. This is political correctness gone mad. Avoid.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is terrible. Random shots of an unknown planet in indistinct detail with arbitrarily chosen music. The benchmark for this scientific documentaries is still Carl Sagan's Cosmos. It's over thirty years old but no-one has been able to match it for evoking awe and pure pleasure about our planet and the stars.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Didn't find this funny at all. Canned laughter, one liners and pointless dialogue. Not for me.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
A group of children going through puberty via an implausible chain of non events. Dreadful script, apalling dialogue and acting not seen since Bill & Ben took up string. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is about one motorcyclist, in one city, on one charge, of littering. 99% repeat and filler. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is all about america. They have the government they want, the crime they want, the poverty they want, the corruption they want and still they complain. It's always somebody elses fault. Not once during this entire movie did anyone ask or was asked would they be prepared to give up their car to save the US. They want everything cheaper they're not prepared to pay for anything and they wonder why the world despises them.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Mildly amusing.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
This was a film about nothing. A crew member of a river ferry with a camera filming his friends. Inane garbage.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
A different interpretation but lovely singing and acting.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An OK effort.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
A different take on a classic comic opera. Worth a watch for something different.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An honest and interesting look at a time when change was in the air and everyone thought they were invincible. Watch it because you need to think and question your present attitudes about everything.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
I have no idea what this was supposed to be about. Coffee originated in Ethiopia, the west drinks coffee and the point is? Some people should never be allowed to own or operate a camera. More research than making a cup of decaf instant is required here. Avoid this self indulgent brew like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is not a story of maths rather a history of some mathematicians. You learn nothing about maths or numbers or even their role in describing the universe. What you will learn is how not to photograph any thing of interest, how to be arty and irrelevant. As with the first disc, avoid.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not a patch on Rocky Horror.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Very disappointing. Obviously the professor thought he was lecturing to his students and not an interested laity. Really needed an independent producer to say "No I don't understand, explain it again please" and it wasn't helped by 'artistic' camera work wandering all over the place. If you're ever so slightly interested in the history of maths and not easily offended by sub-standard workmanship then watch it by all means.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Very light on. No sociologist or anthropologist present simply actors and screenwriters supplying a running commentary. This should've been rated PG don't know where the R rating came from.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Some people believe black is white and you can't change their minds even with logic, evidence, proof etc. The two questions unasked in this movie is why do people believe and why do others allow them to. The USA is insane, senators who do not believe in evolution and the rest of the world which thinks it's OK for a superpower armed with nuclear weapons to be run by these people. This is a Bill Maher skit not a look at religion and religuous people. Watch it for an amusing poke at the credulous.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
A creditable production, well worth the watch.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Doesn't get any better than the first. Trying to reintroduce slavery is not going to solve the worlds financial solutions but Professor Ferguson would have us believe it's worth a try.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Dreadful. I've read other works of professor Ferguson which show he has abilities as an educator, this is not one of them. At the very beginning you know this is going down hill fast when he fails to explain what money is and the purpose it serves. Without that basic understanding the rise of banks and insurance remains a mystery. This is the type of subject that requires numbers on a chalk board to explain complicated ideas, not appalling camera work of the same irrelevant scene a thousand times over. I've read books that explain the concept of money far better than this, seek them out and avoid wasting your time on this drivel.

Woeful, an anthropologist who's never heard of evolution or Darwin's theory. Avoid like the plague.

Science for the brain dead.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is woeful. An anthropologist who's never heard of evolution or Darwin's theory. This is one of those look at me aren't I great populist psuedo-documentaries. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Poor Israeli version of Queer as Folk. Lacks the depth of character and humour of the original. Give this a wide berth.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Absolutely appalling. Cliche'd characterisation, pathetic storyline, woeful acting and who paid for this movie, a cigarette company.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Dreadful. This is nothing more than bank bashing. No analysis, no explanation of the alternative systems of finance. This is pure blame game stuff, "it's not me, somebody else is to blame, it's not my fault" well people of good ol' US of A it is your fault and you should suffer the consequences of your inactions.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This misses the point of population and ignores political economy. Populist and shallow.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is a continuation of the degeneration of the Doctor. All those who rave about the current crop of Doctors should go back and revisit An Unearthly Child. This is not what Doctor Who is about, rather a reflection of our current crass society.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Usual St Theresa stuff. No analysis, thought or opinion just middle class feel good.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Slow, boring, unfunny. Idea wasn't thought out and as a consequence this film had nowhere to go. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Classic well written and acted comedy.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
Brilliant make believe world of nostalgic olde England. The acting is superb, the sets gorgeous and the characters priceless.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
The best of British comedy. This is ageless as good acting and scripting always are. Nostalgic perhaps but definitely quality laughs.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
This is dreadful. An american attempt to combine Holmes and Freud neither of which they're capable of understanding. This is not a comedy, it attempts to be a Sherlock Holmes mystery but the script is so thin, lacking in substance it falls flat. There should've some brilliant exchanges between Holmes and Freud given their professions but nothing. The actors are superbly competent given they have nothing to work with. Avoid like the plague.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Nice witty film. As usual bears no relation to the book it was supposedly based on.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Not one of Oliviers best roles mainly due to such poor script writing. The dialogue lacks wit and sharpness, the direction notable by its absence. An unbelievable plot line which some great actors were unable to salvage.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Silly film really. Vaudeville/slapstick humour not really Katharine Hepburns forte.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Homophobic film about immature boys becoming immature men. Group hate and violence in middle america with the usual misogynistic overtones. Woeful script, hands off direction and mundane acting.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not the best of either John Waynes or Katharine Hepburns films but still an enjoyable watch.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Nostalgic movie, one for film buffs. Really simple nice movie. Looks like a learning/teaching film but it's still an enjoyable watch.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Very heavy handed over the top film. Poor characterisation of lead and supporting characters. More about paranoia and psychosis than TV as a separate life-form. Storyline not that well developed.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Interesting but not intriguing.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
A very flat/dry look at some of Queens albums in the 80s. There was no emotion or detail, it was all journalistic impressions after the fact. No interviews with band members or anybody involved in creating the music. The sort of stuff you'd read on the back of a cornflakes packet one morning.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Almodovar always has the men in his films as weak, female obbessed boys. The women as fawning puppets. All gets a bit predictable and tiresome.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Series is progressively getting better as the actors settle into their roles. Some lovely scenery. Worth watching in the lite entertainment vein.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
This series would benefit from some serious scriptwriting. The plot lines let down an otherwise half decent series.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Typical well crafted English show. Not as funny as I expected but an enjoyable watch.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An interesting audio visual film. For the curious.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Falls flat on its face because the makers didn't or couldn't be bothered to understand the divide between east and west. There are simply too many holes in the storyline for it to carry out the idea of a western self centred dumb blonde assimilating a spiritual affinity for all aspects of daily life as lived by the Japanese.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Ordinary at best. All the old gags with nothing original.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is briliiant Bristish comedy. How these types of people are allowed to exist in our world let alone make aliving is unbelievable.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
Woeful acting, a pathetic script/storyline, cheesy sets and gratuitous violence. Who was directing? anybody?
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
The storyline has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese. I've never seen a character throw off his role as quickly as Mr/Dr what'shisname does in this. I'm not sure what the point of this film was supposed to be whether god exists, what is alive, what is consciousness but it seems to come down heavily on the side that proclaims a blowup rubber doll is a better option than reality. It gets one star for the sound track because I'm a fan of a "Space Odyssey". Pity you can't mute the dialogue and listen to the soundtrack.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
The first of the Blackadder series. Rough edges everywhere but thoroughly enjoyable none the less. Typical high standard British comedy worth watching.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
An interesting portrayal of hopeless lives and families. The acting's excellent. Well worth a watch as a study on humanity. Can be depressing if you simply watch it as a film. Look deeper.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Pretentious low budget slasher flick. There's worse out there but I haven't seen it yet.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Absolutely Dreadful. This modernisation, Americanisation destroys what Sherlock Holmes was all about. This is your typical US gumshoe crime flick. Don't watch.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
The guy's an egocentric, selfish man. This tries to reform the vile. Just because someone can write doesn't mean they belong to the human race. Only if you've got a strong stomach.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Interesting production. Worth a watch for music lovers.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Needs a scriptwriter.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
A good film but nothing special. Mr Richie needs to work on his dialogue which was the downfall of this film. The action scenes were used as filler and had no real relevance to his underlying theme of cause and effect or freewill. Mr Statham gave a better performance but he needs to find a better director.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Ordinary low budget telemovie. Only if your a desperate diehard fan suffering terminal brain death.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Crass, vulgar and brutish. The Americans should be banned from attempting to make films from English literature. Looks like it was filmed on the back lots of Hollywood.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Brilliant.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Classic British comedy worth watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Disappointing. Pretty lame script.

Classic British comedy with some magic cameos.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Low budget, low factual content. Low everything.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
One of the better documentaries about the obesity epidemic in America. Entertaining and definitely worth a watch.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
A man terrified of being alone. He will think any thought rationalise any act to save himself from being alone. Basically a film about loser mentality. It is well acted, the directions a bit sloppy and the camera works good. It wouldn't be on anyones one million films to see before I die list though.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Crap. These are hippy trail fantasies. Nothing about India or its people.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is absolutely woeful. 90% is the presenters face, 9% weird camera angles/movements and 1% inane commentary. This has nothing to say or show about India it's all about building a resume for a career in real cinema. This could've been any country/peoples there simply no affinity for the subject matter or audience.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Woefully pathetic plot accompanied by pitiful acting and direction. The plot line is so weak 90% of the film is padding and there's no sci fi with light years of this. I agree utter garbage.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Alain De Botton's philosophy reads a lot better than it presents. The camera work and editing were amateurish. Needed a producer who understood the subject matter and how it would need to be presented visually. Read the books don't bother watching this as a short cut.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is a sad pathetic look at an America that refuses to do anything about energy consumption. This is denial about lifestyles and consequences. This is all dated technology and ideology.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Rather dated Walter Mitty ramble not worth the watch now.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
For fans.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Dated Japanesse surrealism, interesting to note women exist as objects not people (very strange).
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Interesting take on prehistory with a lot of effort and thought put into this.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Teenage fantasy flick.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is bland emotionally immature pathos due to the fact that Americans can't do irony. It's easy to see where this series is heading you could easily substitute any scenario or genre without effecting the outcome so bland is it. One for the emotionally and mentally weak.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Very narrowly focussed lacking detail and depth.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Didn't see the point of it.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Definitely not the definitive biography, some claring ommissions. Worth watching? Not really.

This is not about the album but a short interview with Elton and Bernie. Interesting if your into pop trivia.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
A money making exercise but HHDL is worth listening to.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
A first attempt by the French to tear down the resistance/underground myth. Still a refusal to believe that as a nation they collaborated with the Nazis. Not the whole truth but not propaganda by any means. Worth a watch for the morbidly curious.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Classic British drama that remains undated.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Classic British spy drama. Well worth watching for the acting alone.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
The final three episodes of this series. A fans only series. Lovely acting from the co-stars especially Ms Dubin.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
You could start watching this film half way through and not have missed anything. Not very funny melodrama.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Classic British drama, a definite must see.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
You need to be a fan of this series because the dialogue can be corny a lot of the time. There are some gems though, especially Nigel Bennet and Ellen Dubin.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Silly vampire flick.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Focussing on one object for ninety minutes doesn't reveal the nature of the universe or the ultimate truth. Pretentious arty rubbish
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Incoherent indulgence. Waste of time.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
A potentially good series let down by very poor script writing and a basic lack of imagination.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Woefull in every department.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is the best the series gets. Some wonderful acting by the guest stars, worth watching for that if nothing else.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
This is for dharma students only. Celebrity cultists will tune out very quickly as this has very poor production values and is cashing in on HHDL fame.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Out of date satirical farce. For nostalgia buffs.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Standard formulaic film. There's a good guy, a bad guy and a deadline simply fill in the missing bits to suit your taste. Same old, same old.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Really what else could you expect from Jeff Kennett and the Victorian establishment. Nice doco worth watching. It's not investigative, simply people telling their stories of how they felt and what happened.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Not one of the best interpretations about. Unrealistic sets bad dramatisation and a simplistic performance. Don't watch this if you enjoy the Holmes genre.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Only if your interested in the behind the scenes stuff.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not the best but one for fans.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Very superficial biography. No analysis of the how or why which probably stems from complete incomprehension of the changes going on in society at the time.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
An interesting but alas not definitive biography. Worth watching.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Why are all the male characters absolutely pathetic, vacuous insubstantial mob of losers and why are the women drooling over them. This didn't need to be banned simply laughed at to make it go away.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Absolute total crap. Not one single word about over population being the cause of global catastrophe. It seems everyone in the future is concerned with pumping out kids and wondering where to send them to school. This is true head in the sand sentimental denial.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Story about losers who can't cope with life. Vague pastiche of nothingness told incoherently to try to get you to believe there is more depth to this than there actually is. Falls into that cinematic category commonly known as crap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
What is consciousness? no point watching this B-grade flick to find out as it's another shoot-em-up.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Homemade technical demonstration DVD for Pilates devoutees.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Absolutely appalling low budget telemovie. Pathetic, formulaic storyline, mimnimal directing deadpan acting and bad FX. Not worth the effort.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
I have absolutely no idea what this was supposed to be about. It certainly wasn't about cities, how they grow, how they function, how the different classes live side by side, how the rich live or how the poor live. What it showed was a stick on the road, a ten minute shot of that followed by a ten minute shot of the road then back to the stick with the word Mumbai on the screen. This was utterly inane self absorbed pretentious drivel.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Cartoon action, absolutely woeful acting and pathetic direction. The sole redeeming feature is that there are a few nice background shots of Japan.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is a good film but it's not "The Grapes of Wrath". It makes you wonder if americans have any knowledge of their recent history or they're blind to their faults. Worth watching? not if you've read the book and not if you intend reading it.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
This class/social divide thing has been done better in continental films. Not funny and not satirical either. I can suggest no reason why you would want to watch this.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
The same as. For Jackie Chan fans.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
This is literally a home movie and the person with the camera has no interest in cars at all. Utter crap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
I've no idea what this was supposed to be about. The stupidity of man, the incredulity of the foolish, rascism. This is crap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Historically inaccurate, questionable analysis. This glories the victors and demonizes the vanquished. This obviously comes from the producers inability to comprehend or cope with the second world war. On the garbage scale this is a ten.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Too sophisticated and intellectual for me. Mind you it might be crap as well can never pick between the two.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Extremely dated incoherent and sensationalist ravings by a would be doctor cum star. Not worth the effort.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
French morality tale about the virtues of the simple and the folly of the rich. Predictable plot and characters. This is a very loose production, a lot left out, contrived scenes to stretch a point unbelievable dialogue a times. This, philosophical musings, is something the French can do well and in this instance haven't. If you've nothing better to do and need a sedative.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Very, very, very pathetic. There's nothing futuristic or funny about this low budget piece of crap. The dialogue such as exists comes from Saturday morning cartoons. The lead actor waddles around like a duck lugging an oversized sword she clearly doesn't know what to do with. Every scene's an excuse to pump gallons of red ink about. This is the type of film a group of teenage boys would make if they had nothing better to do on a Saturday morning.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Extremely low budget attempt at satire on US lobby/smoking groups. None of the cast puts in any effort. This was supposedly based on a book that had some potential. Perhaps you should seek out the book rather than watch this.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Freudian look at female sexuality. Goes to show how prudish Australia was/is back then. Time's past to watch this one.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Sentimental crap. This is a road movie in search of the meaning of life without a clue. Jumps around in order to piece together a narrative. Wanders aimlessly from one pathetic character to the next. The worth, such as might exist, of this film is in the background scenery. Truly woeful.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Read Jackie Chans autobiography before watching this, you'll get more out of it. A classic kung fu film.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Japanese techno/punk film. One dimensional about a thug who beats up people because he can. Gets very tedious. No dialogue, monocharacter/s. Interestingly even though made by Japan's next generation it's still very backward looking, carrying the baggage of Japanese history. If this was professionally edited it would be 5mins long.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
There are some very nice moments in this film but they are few and far between. Otherwise it's your typical samurai film. Worth a watch for fans of Japanese film.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Watch this for the acting alone. This must be one of Shakespeare's worst plays. Act four could be cut in entirety without notice. There are no memorable monologues, no new characters of note, no additions to the story line. It takes up almost half the play and is irrelevant. The endings tacked on and unbelievable if not incredulous, not a very good effort Will. The acting's brilliant though.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Lovely slapstick over the top comedy. Not your usual kung fu film. Worth watching for a laugh.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An attempt to break the stereotype of Japanese films. Lars von Triers influence is obvious. Unfortunately Japanese society being extremely patriarchal as soon as a women enters the film reverts to standard misogyny. So the ending lets an otherwise enjoyable film down. There's nothing the Japanese can do about this it's genetic and immutable.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An old classic that's still very watchable.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Formulaic teenage slasher flick. Crap basically.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
A very nice stylish Japanese film. Beautifully shot and well acted. Violent and tender well worth watching.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Strange film. Very slow with no real character development or motivation.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Absolutely woeful. Consisted of one character yelling at the top of his voice the entire film. Bears no relation to the book or TV series at all. Garbage.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Part two pieced together from off cuts of part one. As bad.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Good to know the Americans don't have a monopoly on crap. Film about good versus evil so good has win, never mind the inane chauvanistic, misoginistic drunken hero who overcomes all. Not really worth watching as everything is predictable.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Interesting short doco about 2001.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Even with Sir Laurence I'm not thrilled by this production. Individual performances are good but this doesn't gel.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Amateur backyard effort not worth rating.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not a good collection, the title episode is a montage from a film. The Cromwell episode is classic.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
One of the truly enduring classics. A timeless film.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
Unfortunately not as funny as one would anticipate. Definitely one for Rowan Atkinson fans.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Woefully pathetic, dumbed down version of Aliens/Terminator. A preposterous script, inane acting, direction by accident and cartoon CGI. The second movie I believe and a third considered, is there no end to the garbage that escapes Hollywood.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Typically well made and acted English comedy. A must see.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
An extremely long and tedious pseudo artistic film about nothing.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not even a Bgrade flick. Woefull.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Typical Jackie Chan film, one for the fans though. Those who haven't seen Jackie before should go back to his earlier work and read his autobiography as well.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
B grade western/horror. No acting, no direction no point watching it.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is a very traditional look at the first world war. The historical interpretation is a bit dubious, the analysis anglophile and the view point victorious. Which it has to be otherwise the facts become contradictory. This stays on safe ground and explains nothing. If you need a reaffirmation watch this if you're after the truth look elsewhere.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Nice comedy that the British seem to pull of with ease. Don't take it seriously it's a laugh.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Hasn't aged well. The misogeny, rascism and bigotry are still there. The mysticism is naive the Judeo Christian ethois paramount. Worth are watch for film historians.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Very amateurish production. Historically inaccurate, bias and dishonest. This is about an ego rather than the tragic events of the second world war. Give it a miss and read some of the excellent literature on the Holocaust.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This is an extremely biased portrayal of Hitlers generals. It disregards historical facts in favour of populist scapegoating. Give this a miss if you seriously want to understand the Hitler phenomena.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Typical B grade movie, bad acting, poor sets, unbelievable storyline. If you want the crusader type film watch Firefly. its stuck in western motif but its a grade up from this.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Still as funny as the first. Worth watching for the mad squirrel alone.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
This is eastern bloc propaganda. There's no how or why humans continue to kill humans on such a scale. There are better Holocaust doco's out there, give this one a miss.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Standard kung fu flix for the afficianado.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
There are a very few interesting scenes, the rest is rather bland and incoherent. I think this is because love is never actually defined and without that definition there is nothing to play against. The science is dubious although the idea behind it mildly interesting. Watch it if you stumble across it but it's not worth searching for. I gave it three stars because there are some good performances from the bit players and it was harmless fun.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
The first part of this series starts off very wobbly, all over the place. Characters are settling in and adjusting themselves. The Nathan character suffers particularly from these early stage wobbles. The writing is very stereotypical and almost misoginist in nature. The second disc is by far the highlight of this series.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Has a lot of jumping out from behind curtains and things and going boo. Half a dozen short films. Some quirky some different but not necessarily interesting per se. It would seem that India has some very good actors. Different from your typical US horror crap. Watch it if it comes your way.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
All's been done before. Prisoners rehabilitating themselves through art. USA has a sadistic penal code and treats its citizens appallingly. No new insights into humanity or its treatment of other humans.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
This could have come straight out of a Laurel and Hardy film, the gags are that old. See jackie Chan's earlier work for his best performances. Owen Wilson is no comedian and Jackie chan needed a better sidekick than Wilson. Not at all amusing.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
The myth that is USA history seems to be sacrosanct. Take this series with a big grain of salt. Ken Burns hasn't exactly lied simply downplayed some of the major aspects for example the number of native americans who were living there, their civilisation, the corrupt polictical figures including the presidents, the land robbers etc. This is probably as close to the historical truth as Americans are prepared to go.

Competent treatment of an ordinary Shakespeare play.

Same as first. Ms Boyle's probably the best thing in this.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
Pathetic. A bunch of immature emotional cripples who can't grow up. The dialogue was woreful, the acting non existent.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Very rudimentary. This is probably one of the better efforts at trying to present such a topic. There was no mention of physics at all. The evolutionary aspects were kept very low key. If you're interested in life in the universe Cosmos is still the best avenue to explore the origins of our universe and life in it.

Good idea failed in the execution. How many times can you watch the super hero and his sidekick in the same situations saying the same things with the same outcome. Tedious real fast.

Spectacular live performance of a medley of their songs.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
This film has so many holes in it you could send it off to a swiss cheese factory. Lumps of clay with labels; parent, father, mother, boyfriend, brilliant surgeon etc stuck all over the place for no apparent reason. You could cut 90% of the scenes and make no difference to the story. This is supposed to be about a rare condition known as hermaphroditism; someone born with both male and female genitalia. This film is about nothing but ordinary teenage angst told in the most banal cliched way possible. Poorly acted, dreadful direction, woeful cinamatography and lacking a coherent script.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Tragically this would never have been made today, so what does that tell you about the crap spewing out of Hollywood. This is still a classic.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Something a little bit different. Some nice performances from the co-stars. The dance routine is brilliant. Thoroughly entertaining even with all the gore.

This is Queer as Folks the film. This would be one of the few films I've watched where you can actually see the "actors" reading the script. The story's lame the ending predictable and the direction non existent.

This is Floyd need I say more.

Thank goodness this series is over. Now you can watch Fire
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Pathetic. This has contrived situations with the comedy surgically removed and crowbarred together. An opera buff who never listens to music, a professor of philosophy who doesn't read. Cigarettes make an appearance for no apparent reason. NO ONE smokes. This is a USA values propaganda film.

Some of the themes for Fire

This should have been a play. There are basically two characters arguing about the existent of god/ meaning in the univers. I think you need to read the book to find out about all the "missing stuff" but then you probably wouldn't watch this film. Disappointing.

This is a syrupy look at role models for children. Straight or gay, good or bad. Lite on analysis, cause and effect. Cut a couple of scenes this would be PG.

I believe Sally Field did this better in the TV sitcom. Not particularly funny or original. A bland offering.

"Stanley's trial" is probably the best of this bunch. Unless you've seen series 3 there's no point watching this second series because it is really really bad.

Very heavy handed, contrived adaptation. Jonathon's got to be one of the fittest sick men ever.

An interesting film from a different movie making age.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Pathetically silly as opposed to funny silly. The ending shows how far off the mark this film is.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
This series never lasted because it needed script writers. So the characters came into existence without ever having a hope of succeeding. Series three is its high point and you can have not seen any of the previous series ( actually this is probably the best way to view this series) to appreciate its potential.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Highly speculative theorizing on the uncertainties surrounding Shakespeare. Over dramatised. One more from the profitable Shakespeare factory.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
This is absolutely appalling. The sound is all over the place. The video is a mish mash of irritating jerky pictures flashed across the screen as a poor substitute for film footage. Who ever made this didn't have a clue what they were doing or have any respect for the group. A ripoff.

After reading Pamela Stephenson's book on her husband it throws a different light on his performances. You get a sense of the person on stage rather than the performer.

This series does show how much Monty Python affected John Cleese. Andrew Sachs is brilliant though and the rest ot the cast gradually steal the show away from Cleese. The series does get better because of this. From a golden era of British TV now almost long gone.

Brilliant. Watch the movie, then watch the interviews, then watch the movie again. Fascinating.

A then B then C then, oh I wonder what comes next. Perhaps that detective, what was his name, the one with the charisma of a brick. Perhaps he could help me discover what letter comes next. Wouldn't that be thrilling!
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Nothing on why four US presidents were never tried for crimes against humanity. Nothing on the corruption, greed and influence of the arms industry. Nothing on the stupidy, incompetence and culpability of the US's elected representatives. This is a pathetic "mea culpa" from a nation which can't comprehend it's own sociopathology. A poor imitation of the Ken Burns style of documentary making.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Not as funny as I expected. Keven Kline does a wonderful job as the obnoxious american. Good British comedy but overly fixated on Jamie Lee Curtis's tits, perhaps that was for the US audience.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
This uses exactly the same scenes and dialogue as previous films. It's more comic book this time. Same contradictions and paradoxes ignored. The arch vampire needs working on. This is aimed a particular niche audience and it serves that purpose well so three stars.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
This is classic social satire. Timeless.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
The female lead has spent eons learning the ancient Kung fu secrets, passing her final final training session with flying colours and promptly get s killed by the first man she meets. Which is fortunate because it gives the male lead something to do for the next ninety minutes. He reeks his revenge in so an inane and incompetent manner you end up wishing the bad guys will win. The bad guy does win in a manner of speaking with the ending a so lame ending. Normally in these types of films you're treated to some beautiful Japanese scenery and architecture, not here, straight into the compost heap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
There's nothing futuristic, sci-fi or comic about this film. It consists of steroid pumped lumps of muscle posing their way through a non dialogue, non plot film with the corniest FX gore in existence. These 'kung fu actors' have less poise and grace than a herd of drunken hippopatamii. Totally pathetic B grade kung fu flick.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Lost some characters from series one. They've tried some new things, some of it works some doesn't. It seems to have run out of steam but it's interesting enough.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Brilliant English comedy. In this world of rampant nihilistic individualism where humour is based on derogatory rascism sexism homophobia etc. it's nice to see language and ideas used as the medium of challenging our mores. This will go over many peoples heads because it's skillfull clever humour from the distant past.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
This is much better than the Canadian copy. There's less inherent violence, it's funnier it has more subtle humour. There's less sex and nudity so I don't know what the R ratings for. Entertaining and non threatening so anybody can watch it without feeling guilty.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Good old yankee doodle crap.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
I gave it two stars because it was a long episode rather than a movie. It still suffers from the nihilist individualism that is the myth of the good old US of A. There's too much/many inconsistencies and contradictions to call this a movie. The ending was pathetic, what is it with swords and mindless violence. The idea that winning makes rught seems bizzare. This is basically fodder for the herd.

Very ordinary fare. Nothing new, innovative or interesting. A reflection on the state of the Australian film industry rather than a showcase for new talent.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Pretty pedestrian fare, typical USA mindset (I know it's Canadian). This could be any genre because the ideas/ideology have never left the Earth. Still I think this series is/was a good idea but left unexpressed. Needs to employ some scriptwriters and spend a bit of money.
(Worth watching) - review by Tom
Not as good as the radio series, where the voices were the characters and imagination filled in the gaps. The books expanded on the ideas in the radio scripts. Philosphically still a masterpiece. Worth a nostalgic watch. A word of warning. DO NOT under any circumstances be tempted into watching the film.

(Worth watching) - review by Tom
An almost surrealist film that isn't so it's deficiencies are made obvious. The rhetoric is populist, it's not mean't to be spoken by school kids, we're not meant to believe they are and the actors don't play them as such. No sacred icons are thrown down. This is rattling the bars for appearance sake not to escape the strictures of society. Killing off the main character for the sake off an ending is never a good idea. This is theatre of the Beckett genre. The acting is excellent, good English character performances. The direction vapid.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
Undeveloped characters inserted into formulaic script towards predictable ending. BUT. This something the English do well, character acting. If there had been a script to work with it would have been a memorable film. Disappointing given the talent available.

Crap Crap Crap Crap. They must have hated Carl Sagan with a passion of such infinite depth to have even begun to have contemplated such a purile abortion of an adaptation. All involved should grovel in shame that they would attempt such a debasement of a great man's vision and beliefs.
(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
Lacking depth and analysis. It's always easy to blame the well off and pity the poor but harder to ask why. Focussing on facts out of context renders them useless. There are books about that give a better analysis of the IMF etc than this doco. Emotive, sentimental, bleeding heart film, so don't be seduced by its simplicity. Look else where to understand your world and the consequences of your actions in that world.

Nothing original, all the footage used has been seen a million times before. Doesn't answer any of the hard questions about why the rest of the world and particulary Europe participated so enthusiastically in the extermination of the Jews. America and England are conspicuous by their absence. Hopefully there are or will be better documentaries on the Holocaust in the future.

If you're rascist, patronising brain dead cretin. Aspire to mono syllabic dialogue as your PB then this is for you. I wonder if one day they'll invent a camera that is so light it can be held in the hand and not so heavy that it has to be rested on the ground all the time.

Pretty amateurish doco. A lot of talking heads rambling in an undirected way. Poor interviewing technique, shoddy camera work basically an unstructured effort that looks like it was picked up of the editing floor.

A film that tries to explore what it is that makes us human. Unfortunately it's absolute garbage. It constructs a premise to valid an argument ie; if you take everything that makes us human out we then becaome less than human. I must admit, I only got as far as the puupy before my crap intolerance went into overload and I had to turn it off to save my brain from turning to mush. Did I mention the acting. No, probably because there wasn't any.

An early Wenders film. A road film, where a psychotic, narcissitic brain dead cretin is given a nine year old girl. The girl lives happily ever after and the psychotic, narcissitic brain dead cretin remains a psychotic, narcissitic, brain dead, cretin. Watch this if you're interested in the evolution of Wim Wenders as a director. It's easy to see why he gave up acting.

Without a full understanding and comprehension of the first world war it's impossible to portray it in any medium. This film carries that many prejudices and misconceptions that it undermines itself. Read the book and be content with that.

Anti Japanese racist, propaganda. The Americans still haven't got over Pearl Harbour.

Very shallow attempt at an important broad subject area. Probably due to the poor, non-existent production values and typically over the top script. Could also be due to the dreaded "dumbing down" effect prevalent today.

Pathetically amateurish attempt to cash in on the Chomsky name. Read any of Mr Chomsky's books, don't waste your time watching this.

Dated perhaps but Mr Chomksy is worth listening to at any time. A pity most of the interviewers hadn't bothered to research or understand Mr Chomsky's thesis. Most if not all the interviewers were so wrapped up in their own prejudices and paradigms they made themselves look, at best childish, at worst foolish.

A bigger budget than Andromeda but the same, though slightly less interesting, characters. I've stopped counting the number of times I've seen that western, the dead friend back to life routine. The only interesting character, so far, the bounty hunter. They get rid of him instead of giving him his own series! No, the real problem I have with series is the writers who cannot seem to or want to get their collective heads around the possibilities the future holds. This is the banal stuff the Enterprise left far behind.

Brilliant actors in a filmed play. Alan Bates as Butley the washed out cynic is beautiful to watch. Richard O'Callaghan counterpoints him exactly. These are rare moments of British drama to savour at leisure.
(Excellent) - review by Tom
The attitudes of several of the male roles are dated and grate on the nerves. The central character is a loathsome creature that never evokes sympathy for his plight, which is self inflicted. The morality and consequences are a bit 'iffy' for a post war France.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
As a way of telling a story purely with pictures this works and the staircase scenes have to be a classic.

I don't know if this is the original or not. Filmed in the depths of the depression it's easy to understand peoples enthusiasm for Hilter. Obviously a propaganda film and therefore selective of the images shown but none the less an interesting insight into a turbulent time. Watch it disinterestedly.

One of the better dying films about. Though it does side step or ignore the issue/s of dying as a part of life. Some of the characters and characterisations are cliched. The direction lapses at times but overall a good dying film.

(Don't bother!) - review by Tom
There's a difference between cause and effect and chaos. Chaos has infinite variables leveraged over time. Cause and effect is a chain of actions and reactions, not highly improbable plot points thrown together to make a film. The French are normally so good at doing the existential stuff. Not here.

A very luke warm look at "the corporation". An almost total absence of any serious scrutinising of corporate morality and ethics. Some high powered names allowed to float by unmolested. I think the lawyers got to this one first.

Facts never change, our understanding of them only increases. Carl Sagan will increase your understanding of the universe and our place in it.
(Not to be missed!) - review by Tom
Even though new discoveries have dated some of the material the Cosmos series still remains the benchmark for this type of documentary. Carl Sagan was a gifted communicator able to share his passion and beliefs in an honest, no nonsense way. If you've never understood science these documentaries still have something valuable to give.

(Maybe) - review by Tom
Actors should resist the urge to attempt direction. Great actors should greatly resist such temptations. Shakespeare is one of those playwrights that show up the inadequacies of those involved. This attempt at a film/theatre cross with Hollywood musical muzak leaves one wondering why great actors/actresses do it. Look down on the mire and wondering/forgetting what it would be like to wander amidst the squalor awhile. Resist the temptation I say and resist the urge to watch this film.

Nice idea for a story which fails in the telling. First two thirds seems to be about the value of money. Two lead characters switch between con men and pranksters. Idiocy and irresponsibility represent a youthful perspective the film seems to indicate as being a desirable thing. As opposed to having any attitude that can be associated with maturity ie responsibility, open mindedness, curiosity, refinement of taste and values, discernment, worldliness etc etc etc. Childishness will keep you young of mind until you die. The last third has the potential to save a sinking ship but this is tossed overboard to lighten the weight of the film. Its mediocrity saves it from being truly bad.
(Maybe) - review by Tom
What a woeful film. Apart from being far too long, beset by inane camera work, a lack of acting ability, improbable events happening to unlikely people, for the obscurest of reasons, in the most ludicrous of manners at the most opportune time. What this film desperately needs/needed is a script and a director.

An attempt at coming to grips with the existential angst of being. Flawed ideology certainly but the weight of the story carry's one over the rough patches. Not sure if Peter Falk was supposed to be the devil or not? Interesting for what it attempted rather than what it achieves.

A simple story beautifully crafted. Each scene choreographed imitating the Japanese aesthetic. Particularly noticeable in the scene where the women serve Sanjuro food. The ritual of presentation juxtaposed against Sanjuro's internal ritual code. You need to watch this film with a non western mind, to appreciate how Japanese combine the physical with the meataphysical, rational with spiritual, exterior with internal motifs.
