Amazing how this movie really gets you in! Who wants to watch 103 minutes of black and white silent film? After 15 minutes though, I was laughing and smiling along with all who had seen it before me! Having not actually read any reviews, but knowing of it's nominations and awards, I thought when it started that I might be one of the few who wouldn't be able to stick it out. So wrong! It was magic - beautifully acted, directed and filmed.

A most thoughtfully made, thought-provoking film. Tackling a complex subject from a very empathic standpoint. Terrific acting; Glen Close is AMAZING.

Yes, I loved this too. First 3D film I've seen and really worth the cost of the glasses! I usually don't much like "block busters" but the characters in Avatar are very well drawn, so that along with the "special" special effects, the film was very satisfying and I was stunned to realise at the end that it had been two and a half hours long.

I wrote a review for Frozen River a couple of days ago - are you editing it OR rejecting it?

At first this seemed to have the makings of a film 'made for TV' but it really delivered, and stayed with me long after it was finished. The bare bones are - single mum, two children, husband a gambling addict who had just left them (for the nth time). The older boy, was excellent in the quite pivitol, yet smallish part that he played. The story kept 'value-adding' - and included our learning more about a native american woman. Both the women in the film (the mum and the native american) were deperately poor, in money and emotional health, but, by chance, were able to help each other at probably the worst moments of their lives.
