Seann William Scott makes a decent fist of breaking his typecasting as the Stifler-type in this "biopic". The movie is a departure from the traditional fratboy roles he normally takes, and he plays the role of dyslexic, alcoholic, ADD, tourette's sufferer with understated intensity. American Pie fans might not enjoy this as it is a little more arthouse than expected from SWS. If this wasn't based on the actual memoirs of Jeff Nichols, you think it was too far out to be real, but the movie presents the story as it is without judgement, and it ends up an enjoyable character piece.
