Actors: Robin Williams, Daryl Sabara, Alexie Gilmore, Geoff Pierson, Morgan Murphy

World’s Greatest Dad (written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait) is a comedy about a man who learns that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone. Lance Clayton (Robin Williams) is a high school teacher who dreams of being a rich and famous writer. He is a single dad to Kyle – a disrespectful jackassof a kid, and is maybe dating Claire – an adorable art teacher who may or may not be leading him on. After a freak accident, Lance suddenly finds himself facing both the worst tragedy of his life, and the greatest opportunity. His actions unintentionally set him on the path to what could be great success, as long as he can live with the knowledge of what got him there.

A crude and out-of-control teenager is sanctified by his school after his death. A black comedy about the family and the media. Robin Williams gives a one dimensional performance. 3.5 stars

Degrading story about family degradation. Makes you feel unclean. How could anyone call it a comedy? It is a very sad narration about a perverted teen-ager and his father who is an educated but weak-willed person. If to consider the saying: A father loves his child for being good and a mother loves for just being, then this father definitely plays a female role and looses all respect from his son. The combination of uncontrolled sexual urges and unlimited internet access to porn result in the tragic stupid death of the teenager while he was experimenting with asphyxiation during masturbation. The father uses the situation to publish his own writing. Sad and very pessimistic story.

The overtly crass and sexualised nature of the son in this film not only makes one dislike him intensely but makes it impossible to understand any connection he has with other characters in the film. Robin Williams' performance is strong but, overall, a relatively poor film.

A macabre story but NOT a comedy. As usual, good acting by Robin Williams and most of the other cast but maybe Bobcat Goldthwaite (writer/director) should stick to acting a like an idiot in front of the camera rather than behind it. A little predictable in the end.

If you are thinking this is going to be your typical Robin Williams comedy. THINK AGAIN. Twisted and dark, this clever movie will having you staring mouth agape one minute then snickering the next. Watch it with an open mind and enjoy.

I think most of the negative reviews come from people who saw that this was a Robin Williams film called 'World's Greatest Dad' and assumed it was a family film! This is a boundary-pushing comedy, much deserving of its MA rating [FYI 'Kathycatalogue' - don't confuse a US R rating with an Australian R rating - US R is roughly equal to Australian MA]. If you can handle adult jokes, watch this. Otherwise, I hear there's another Scary/Epic/Date Movie coming out soon.

Absolute Hollywood dribble. Don't waste your time. Maybe Robin Williams had nothing better to do at the time, because this has nothing. Have a look at the extras, and it verifies nothing is taken too serious.

To all the people saying "This is not for kids" .... IT HAS AN MA RATING, think they invented the ratings system as a joke?

This movie has to be one of Robin Williams worst. The storyline was non existent and definetly not one you can watch with the family. crude one liners and not worth wasting your time.

This is NOT for kids. RW is quite creepy in this role. Sorry to spoil the plot but RW's son dies in a very unfortunate way and whilst he was a horrible person, becomes idolised by the school community in their misguided grief. I don't know why anyone would want to watch it. Don't bother putting it in your queue.

31/2 only as it was at times 'hard'' to watch. IT was a very dark satiritical look at some of the least popular times at school for both father and son in this case. Robin Williams does dark comedy so well and was brilliant. Some very explicit sex scenes/refereces so not for all but was in keeping with the storyline. quite a good movie.

This is definately M15 but I wouldn't let a 15 year old watch it. There are some things that kids just do not need to know until they are 45. This is not a funny movie, interesting, shocking, surprising, even annoying, but for some strange reason it's isnt sad or depressing there just is nothing to laugh at. The story is just like the blurb says. Robin Williams is as good as he can be in serious/pathetic parts. The surprise is in the outtakes - the son actually looks sweet outside his character.
