Gee, talk about depressing. After just seeing Forest Whittaker down on his luck in Powder Blue, he turns up in this. It's a story of how people are affected by trauma, in this case, a shooting in a diner. It's not made clear why it happened, but it focuses on how those involved cope or react. And most don't do it well. Guy Pearce pops up in a good role.
Not a big fan of movies that keep going back and forth from start to present. This movie is one of those and is hard to follow which story line is being followed. Movies should begin and then just keep going so that they do not lose appeal. Unfortunately this movie lost my appeal after it started to go through each story line and always going back to stuff that I had already seen.
A bit depressing... Didn't like the way it was told, slow and harsh for no real reasson... Actors were brilliant though. I wouldn't recommend it...
Brilliant portrayal of characters in trauma.
SLow to start but definitely worth a look. Strong cast suffers from imitating Crash
My sister recommended this film to me and said it was one of the best movies she's seen in a long time. I didn't enjoy it. This film wasn't supposed to be all for entertainment, because it dealt with a serious issue, but it lacked energy. It was wishy-washy and had no guts. The story just kind of trundled along. It was like watching one sequence of events after another. It was depressing, but strangely you couldn't connect with the characters. And it was confusing - it didn't explain itself well enough.
Not keen, too long and boring.
Not a movie if you are sad or mildly upset or actually not really worth watching unless you need some insight into the bad side of human nature. and wish to depress yourself!. very depressing and very slow. intersting if you are into psychology of trauma
A movie that needs your undevided attention a little slow on the take off but, it kept me interested enough to watch it to the end.
If you like something that tests you patience do watch it.
I enjoyed it myself
l would watch Kate B. all day, great drama original story.
Slow, but well acted , worth watching on a slow day
Was a dark film dealing with something we rarely think about, PTSD a movie that shows that the hatred of a single human being can cascade and affect so many lives and our different coping mechanisms. Great cast and well directed...
Strange movie with great potential, but unfortunately slowly looses the plot. The story line between the 2 teenagers is good. Oddly a second storyline appears where Guy Pearce poisons his wife. This, however, seemingly has nothing to do with the rest of the movie and is never resolved. It is though the director accidentally spliced part of another movie into this one. Maybe I missed something.
Jennifer Hudson opens the door 3 times over the course of the movie and says her father isnt home. What the hell?!? This is how you use an Academy Award winner?
A disturbing look at how a crime can effect different lives. I found it quite interesting.
crap, dont bother with this movie..... it is slow and boring
If you want to get bored, take this. Even the cast won't save you from the need to sleep or to fast forward.
It's just NOT interesting enough. BAD!
Brilliant movie dealing with PTSD of a number of survivors of a random murderer.
