This is one of the most truly inept remakes of all time. Where to start? So many rock bottoms to choose from. The bike scene, the bear scene, the karate scene. Oh no, wait, I remember, it's the bee scene which is the worst. "Oh no! Not the bees! Not the bees! Oh no! The bees!" yells Nic as CGI bees assail his face mercilessly. I laughed so hard all the way through this movie. It really is intergalactically bad.

Overall: it just felt so implausible. The storyline was so predictable, I was always one step ahead of it and the dialogue was so cheesy that I actually laughed out loud in parts. But I got to hand it to Nicolas Cage that he's one of the few actors that can deliver such ridiculous lines and still have "some" credibility. The ending was great but didn't have the impact it could have if the movie had built up to that moment. And finally, not sure how I felt about seeing the violence toward women at the end of the film either. They were total *female dogs* and even I as a woman was feeling like I hated them all deeply, but there's still something unsettling about seeing a man punch a woman in the face. I'd be interested in seeing the original for comparison.

Nah, it doesn't work. As a huge fan of the original version, this reworked effort was very disappointing. Nicolas Cage tries and fails and, try as they may, Americanising this classic was a recipe for disaster. The whole reason the policeman was chosen to meet the Wicker Man has been changed and, to me, that was an integral part of the original. Maybe young Nick didn't fancy having to play a virgin.

An ok movie but quite a few things didn't tie in at the end and if you like happy endings this isn't a movie for you. I felt ripped off with the ending.

Haven't seen the original 70s movie (which I think was British), but this remake had the feel of one of those 70's Hollywood B grade horror/suspense films - right down to the lame ending. Really not worth the effort - which is surprising with Nick Cage as the lead (although I guess he has done some shockers in his time).

An utterly dire film, which illustrates everything that is so wrong with most Hollywood remakes. An absolute disgrace - just don't let this movie sully your enjoyment of the stunning 1973 original, which remains one of the greatest horror / thrillers ever made.

What can one say about this movie? It is not at all what i expected and i was very surprised by the way it ended. This is certinally one of Nicolas Cage's movies that are out there with some of his eariler whacky films.
I did enjoy this movie, just found it a little wierd thats all, if you like movies that keep you guessing right to the end then this is the movie for you as you would never guess the end of this movie in a MILLION years!!

I didn't particularly like the orginal British movie on which this Hollywood version is based so I was intrigued as to whether the remake was any better. Unfortunately it isn't. Although this one has some plot improvements it, like the original, is not well executed. Also, all the sexual fertility cult stuff from the original has all but disappeared leaving it quite sanitised.

Don't take this too seriously and just enjoy. Nic Cage is a detective brought to an isolated community to solve a missing person case. But something is just not quite right about this island where the women dominate and the men choose not to speak. I like the mix of female characters, strength, allure, intelligence, assertive, aggressive. Nic gets his answers in the end.

I kind of eel like I'm taking crazy pills after reading the other reviews, but The Wicker Man was truly dreadful. Wooden acting, totally predictable story (I really only finished watching it to see if I was right, we figured it out about halfway through the movie). Easily Nicolas Cage's worst movie ever, I hope he got paid well for making this stinker, I can't imagine why he accepted this script otherwise!!

I hadn't read the reviews before watching it, and I hadn't seen the original. I actually enjoyed it while I was watching it, but thinking back now and trying to explain the movie to my husband, I realised how silly it really was. Must say, I didn't expect the ending, so that was a nice surprise. Worth watching just for the ending.

I thought overall it was a very good thriller and kept you guessing (even though I vaguely remembered the ending having seen the original years ago). It let itself down a bit in the plot I thought, as it didn't make sense at times for the policeman character not to ask the obvious questions he should have. Worth watching though. Especially for the ending!

apart from the fact that there were many unanswered questions at the end of this movie, I found the topic matter banal in the extreme. Nick Cage didn't engage me, and the 'women want to cut men's tongues out and keep them as sex slaves' theme is hardly interesting or original.
