The great Werner Herzog (Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre) brings his inimitable visual style to this powerful culture clash drama that was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the central desert of Australia, an Aboriginal tribe is threatened by uranium mining on one of its holiest sites the place where the green ants dream. If those dreams remain uninterrupted, the Aboriginal culture will survive; but if the holy ground is destroyed, the Aborigines assert that their civilisation and the earth itself will perish.

Hetzog has done some 'interesting' movies, and one great one- Fitzcarraldo. Unfortunately, despite a great Aussie ensemble cast, this piece of drivel does not even rate interesting. Garbage- you have been warned.

Beautifully made. A bit strange in places. Gives you an understanding of the Aboriginal culture.
