The story of a woman who has so much to give but her family, especially the men, reject her because of family honour. Despite her traumas she remained warm and generous. Beautifully crafted. Very moving and it will stay with me for a while.
very depressing -= needs to be said, but a bummer
This is a beautifully controlled film that movingly and convincingly shows the struggle some women have to assert their individuality in a world where men think they have the right to oppress them. the film deals with the conflict between blood ties and tradition and the limitations of a culture where family honour seems to be more important even than love and close relationships. the ending made the film even more poignant. I have seen many films with similar themes but I feel that this was among the very best.
