Couldnt watch it through. Boring
I have tried to watch this twice and it just bored me to tears.....couldn't be bothered watching it to the end
We didn't watch it as we had already had it recently.
I think that advertising this film as a comedy has really handicapped it, because as a no-holds-barred expos? of the movie industry in Hollywood it's closer to a documentary than a comedy. De Niro's performance is brilliant, as is Michael Wincott's portrayal of a crazed English director (scarily reminiscent of Keith Richards and very impressive for a Canadian). If your idea of a comedy is The Hangover, this is not for you. But if you're able to appreciate incisive wit and searing sarcasm, you'll love this gem. I've given it 5 stars to get its average rating up, because too many people have panned it without really understanding its worth, and really does deserve to be seen by a more discerning audience.
What a waste of time, absolutely woeful.Do not waste time on this piece of junk.Minus100 stars
I went into this with low expectations, having read the reviews and not having heard much about the film, despite the impressive cast. It wasn't as bad as I expected, and De Niro is much better to watch in this than some of his other recent efforts (Meet The Fockers...). Bruce Willis is a classic. It was a movie about choices, and whenever De Niro's character had to make a choice over his work and his family life - including reconciling with his wife - he always chose work.
Painfully boring! We turned it off after 30min. Lots of cameos but no storyline and no acting. Can we get our money back?
Really bad movie, no story what-so-ever and I have seen better acting from an untrained 5 year old
What just happened? I wasted almost two hours of my life waiting for this film to live up to its potential.
Schindler's List had more humour.
Very disappointing.
The blurb promoting this film describes it as, "Edgy, hilarious and clever." I have concluded that this is cinema-speak for Irritating, Absurd and Obtuse. Either that, or the reviewer had the good sense not waste their time actually watching this drivel. What was Robert De Nero thinking?
Neither as funny or enjoyable as I had hoped or thought it would be.
For a movie with so many big names in it... it was disappointing. A slow story line right from the start, unfortunately.
I wouldn't call that flick a comedy. I haven't seen Deniro playing so well for a longtime and there's no real supporting cast as Sean Penn and Bruce Willis are playing themselves and have only a few scenes, same for Turturro. This movie is really about Deniro acting skills and he's simply superbe. I believe it will disappoint anyone expecting a comedy and also anyone who doesn't care or know about filmmaking process. For the others, those who dream making it in the film industry, it's superbly filmed, acted. I could have watched 3 hours of Deniro's character life.
Just doesn't work somehow - good actors, some funny set-ups but doesn't make for a funny movie. Bruce Willis was the only thing that saved it from being really boring - he was funny! Have to admire a big name star who can enjoy taking the micky out of himself!
I wouldn't really say this is a nail biting or sharp. I admit to only renting this because of Kristen Stewart (who played a minor role), from Twilight. There are a few good actors here, but I really didn't like the movie.
I thought I was missing something as the list of actors alone should have had greatness installed within this movie. I tried to persevere but decided I was tired and switched it off, meaning to watch it later but it never happened and I didn't feel like I was missing anything! disapointing.
Let's see... A movie about the making of a movie that everyone else thought was simply in very poor taste. That seems familiar. Oh wait, that's this movie!
This was described as a comedy but didn't make me laugh at all - maybe I just didn't get it!!
How boring and the call this comedy, i did not smile once, defiantly not worth the bother, i turned it off
Although the acting was good, I have to say that this was one of the most boring movies I have watched in a long long time. Like watching paint dry!
