Strong bloody violence

Director: Sngmoo Lee
Actors: Dong-Gun Jang, Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston

A master assassin (Dong-gun Jang) has a sworn duty to kill the last survivor of the enemy clan. But when he discovers she’s a helpless infant, he’s touched by her innocence and decides to put down the sword and start a new life…raising the baby in the Old West. In a dusty broken-down carnival town, he meets a spirited woman (Kate Bosworth) and lives peacefully until a large gang of ruthless outlaws force the true hero to kill again. It's an East meets West final showdown with a famous sharpshooter (Geoffrey Rush), a sadistic gang leader (Denny Houston), the assassin clan he betrayed, and the entire town waging war with guns, swords, fists and fury. This incredible mash-up of high-flying kung-fu and America’s Wild West explodes with action, violence, and thrills.

What a little surprise gem this one is! Beautifully filmed and reminiscent of Kill Bill in some ways - very balletic fight scenes (gory of course but in a stylised way). Some good actors and plenty of great characters. A little piece of perfection.

An interesting and enjoyable movie. Blends lots of graphic violence, blood and gore into a romantic setting with some truly demonic and evil bad guys (the Americans, not so much the Asian assassins who are, after all, just trying to end a 500 year blood fued). Using some traditional asian (or certainly Chinese) martial arts methods and cinematography makes this movie more of a 'blokes' movie more than a 'chicks flick'. However, the inclusion of a young baby girl adds to the flavour of the movie and softents in marginally so that it could be considered to be a 'shared' movie. This movie is in English as it caters more for the Western market.

The Story was good, but that was the only reason we watched it to the end. Every part of the filming was just weird and unrealistic.

After 30 minutes I found myself wanting more out of the story.... and was mystified by Geoffrey Rush's character. Probably a movie worth having another try with later... but at this time... not an attention grabber

Not a bad movie. Enjoyable enough for a Kung Fu Western. Stylish visual effects were a plus.

An oriental western? I don't think so. Too far fetched.

What a great find. This was a fantastic movie, with an interesting storyline, and amazing fight scene towards the end between cowboys and ninjas. Highly recommend this movie to those who like good action with a little bit of a storyline. (And if you like ninjas of course)

Had some potential but to arty and low budget to ever get there. Life is to short taking time out for this one.

This movie is a bit different from the norm. I can't really call it a western - it's a combo of a martial arts movie meets the west. I liked the way it was shot - colour of the movie and the sets were unusual. Not really my cup of tea.

A Beautifully Made Samurai Western. Everything looks great and the narration was perfect (reminded me of the xbox 360 arcade game bastion) .

Weird! I still don't even really know what the movie was really supposed to be about? I didn't like It at all. It was weird & confusing & the story line was pointless!

Decent fighting scenes, but needed stronger story elements. The ending was too sudden and left much unanswered.

If you like action movies this is a rather fast packed movie. Good watching. My husband enjoyed it but I felt it was a little bit too far fetched.

So far my favourate film of the year. A odd ball mix of ninjas and cowboys, think Kill Bill 1 meets Rango. This movie has forbidden love, the human spirit, really bad bad guys & a high body count. A don't miss.
