I had hesitations about watching this movie as I really dislike brutal violence in movies. And yes, the fighting scenes are brutal, but not graphically so - I could watch most of them - and they are so integral to the story of two alienated brothers (Joel Edgerton & Tom Hardy, equally amazing in their roles) who are on a collision course to meet each other in the cage at a MMA tournament in Atlantic City. The storyline is OTT and just a little incredulous, but the drama and the acting is superb, so I happily suspended disbelief. Nick Nolte, as the brothers' 1000-day sober ex-alcoholic father, is also a standout performance, you can't help feel pity for him despite his sons' deserved and very bitter contempt. This story is at heart about a very dysfunctional family and how blood is thicker than water. By the end I had tears running down my face - happy ending, not a tragic one, I'm glad to say! Kudos to Edgerton & Hardy for the incredible fighting scenes, they must have trained their butts off for this one.
Great movie, just not totally sold on Joel Edgerton in this role
x c lent looks like clint eastwood sylvester stallone all rolled into one
Great movie - look we are not usually into movies with graphic fighting scenes, but there was no blood n gore (a good thing). There was also no foul language or sex scenes that degrade women. We enjoyed the film immensely; hence the 5 Stars. Steve
Some fight scenes push the boundaries but the script and cast are so good it's hard to argue
A 'Rocky' style movie. Very enjoyable.
Great show but not for the faint hearted - Joel Edgerton very good in it!
Great movie really enjoy it
I found this a little slow to begin with, but the second half was terrifc.
Awesome movie. Hardy, Edgerton, Nolte and Morrison were great.
