Still in shock from his only son's death a decade ago, Einar has let his ranch fall into ruin along with his marriage. Now, Einar spends his days caring only for his hired handyman and last trusted friend, Mitch, who was gravely injured in an encounter with a grizzly bear. Einar intends to live out his days in this heartbroken solitude...until the very person he blames for his son's accident comes to town: his daughter-in-law Jean. Jean shows up broke, on the run with a girl named Griff, who she swears is the granddaughter Einar never knew he had. Suddenly, Einar's quiet life is turned upside down as anger and accusations resurface. But slowly, miraculously, 11 year-old Griff's curiosity about Western life, and her longing for a family and a father figure, begin to chip away at the stone that has become Einar's heart - opening up the way for unexpected connection, adventure, mercy and true reunion.

I don't think that there is anything in this film that I haven't seen a dozen times before. Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman are excellent, but they always are. I gave an extra star for them.

Predictable but very good film. Great casting even city slicker JLo doesn't look out of place.

Worth seeing for Redford and Freeman's characters. They are genuine, having deep love and concern for their unconventional family, without being obvious and demonstrative.

beautuful movie, about how grief can be very hard to let go of, and eventually coming to an understanding, that one has to let go of ones loss, forgive and get on with life

Great performances all round - especially with the predictable plot and unoriginal dialogue. You won't be challenged or made to think, but it is a good enough way to pass a few hours.

Quite moving. The story unfolds at a good pace, and the acting is uniformly first class. Really priceless at displaying the vulnerability and hope and strength of ordinary people. Definitely worth watching.

What a wonderful film......from the scenery to the chemistry between the main characters. A story of love and of how, no matter how hard you try to push it away, somehow it will find you again. If you are a Redford and/or a Freeman fan don't miss this, they truly live these roles.

This is one of the best and most rewarding Movies I have seen this year.... Redford plays a grand part and a fine resource for his sick friend (Freeman) to make notable contributions.... this is great Film - one not to be missed.

Makes it to excellent for me only because "worth watching' seems to sell it a little short. Probably carried more by its experienced and talented big stars than anything else. Redford mourns his dead son and hasn't forgiven his daughter in law who he perceives to be at fault. But this has robbed him of a granddaughter, something that is slowly rectified when mother and daughter are forced to seek refuge with their estranged father in law/grandpa. Throw in Morgan Freeman doing what he often does best (the sane and philosophising influence) and a bear.

This is the secound time I watched this film. Robert Redfern plays the stubborn, unhappy farmer who rejects his daughter in law and grand daughter. Wounderfull acting also from the women.

A nice surprise awaits you should you make the informed choice and add this title to your Queue. A reasonable story line and strong acting turns from Mr Redford and the down and out Lopez make this a thoroughly enjoyable Drama flick with a TWIST!

I really loved this movie despite J Lo's average acting performance. Morgan Freeman and Robert Redford made this movie. Its good to see good roles are being written for their age group. Very entertaining.

I really enjoyed this movie albeit a bit melodramatic. quality actors in Robert & Morgan, slow paced emotional storyline about tragedy and forgiveness. Not action packed but able to hold your attention. Stunning scenery. recommended for a pleasant night's viewing.

I think that this was the most wonderful movie, and easily one of the nicest that we have watched over the years! The acting was brilliant making it "normal behaviour" rather than "acting" as such, and the storyline and setting were outstanding. It is one of the VERY few movies which we have watched AGAIN THE NEXT DAY1 and comes highly recommended by a cross section of ages in our family. We may well purchase it and put it into our "must keep" movies, - in which there are very few!!!
