The Blood War Is On.

Human society has been decimated by a holocaust caused by biological warfare research gone wrong: instead of creating super-soldiers, a genetically-engineered virus turns infected humans into Hemophages, a vampire-like sub-species with enhanced physical abilities. In the infection-paranoid and technologically advanced society that follows, Violet is a singular Hemophage warrior battling the totalitarian dictator who is determined to wipe out her species at any cost.

Mmmm... a lot of effort gone into making Milla look cool (special effects, of heaps of fight scenes), and not a lot of plot or depth to characters. A lot of the lines where uber-cheesy (I suppose that's the comic book coming through). Fans of the comic book may get a kick. Me, I couldn't wait for it to be over and watch another Resident Evil.

Very little story, but visually impressive. The movie is more entertaining if you watch it with the Milla Jovovich commentary on :)

I've seen a lot better. Don't expect much and you might enjoy this. The sort of movie you might watch very late at night for dumb action. Too bad they tried to make a story in there

Don't waste your time, the preview makes it look like a cool movie, when its really not.

Wasn't sure about this movie until i watched it. Resident Evils meets Eon Flux, special effects made this movie a very watchable and entertaining view. Flashes of the matrix, with resident evil and eon flux for the furturistic character. Although there isn't much vocabulary the action makes up for it. Some parts were however a little over the top but all in all a quality movie and well worth the time to watch and take in the proposition of a despot controlling society.....4 stars

Turned out better than I was expecting. The visual style at first looks kinda cheap but you soon realise it has a very deliberate style to it. Not the best movie ever but worth a Sunday afternoon viewing.

Excellent movie, great action and a complex twisting plot. Fantastic scenery/sets and great costumes. I had to watch it twice to work out everything that was going on. The 2nd time through I listed to Milla Jovovich's commentary which was quite entertaining too.

Only good if you are a fan of Mila. Some action sequence good, but overall a flawed movie.

Nice 'eye-candy' for Milla fans..who cares if it looks more CG'd than 'real'!? Great SFX either way! :)

On paper this should stack up: Jovovich whupping ass in all her figure-hugging-midriff barin-splendour. However The 'story's' complete refusal to acknowledge any substance beyond the 2 dimensions the film inhabits flattens it. The commentary (I discovered by accident)is by Jovovich says it all.

A good switch off the brain and enjoy the action type of movie, and isn't that why you hire this sort of movie anyway?

One of the best movies ever made. every single frame in the entire movie is a work of art. i was going to do a web site showing 50 pictures from the movie. every single second is just beautiful. (just remember that it's based on a splatter comic about vampires versus the church, so if you like meat and three veg only, you'd better move along).

Great movie though a bit hard to follow at times. The deleted scenes had a better introduction that helps explain things better. Super computer graphics almost like watching an animation at times.

I found this movie to be better than I was expecting and surprisingly entertaining. Milla Jovovich plays Violet, and you could be forgiven for wondering if she was reprising her role as Leeloo (The Fifth Element). With more than a passing nod to Blade, the Matrix and Aeon Flux, Violet is one of the rebellious hemophages, people affected by a disease that makes them different to the ordinary humans who are trying to wipe them out. The special effects were well done and they helped bring this somewhat predictable movie together.

Mila has been in better films! It's very 'fake' looking the special effects look like cartoons, and the actors so airbrushed they look fake too...

Any movie that begins with a long narration to explain background that should be shown on film is generally quite bad. However, in this case the movie was truly awful. The narration only gave the sketchiest outline, which was not backed up in the usual way by visuals ? bad filming and bad cgi left you feeling lost, clueless and disconnected. There was no discernable plot and was it a crappy script or did they cut it to hell? I felt no empathy with the characters ? got excessively bored in fact and I thought the costume (really there was only one) didn?t even suit Mila ? I mean, how did they manage that? Hmm. D grad movie; not as bad as Dracula 3000. (There was a TV series ? British? 80?s/90?s and I think it had the same name. I remember being impressed by it - it was a cop drama with vampires and I think they were called ?Hemopages? in that too.)

Over-stylised pack of nothing. Maybe if movies took the money they put into effects and diverted to the script we'd be able to see a decent movie for a change.
