Transformers is more that meets the eye. This exciting live action motion picture tells the compelling saga of the Transformers giant sentient beings (robots with feelings) from a distant planet who must disguise their identities as cars, planes, and otherwise ordinary electronic equipment on Earth. Locked in battle for an energy source hidden on Earth, the peaceful Autobots fight the evil Decepticons who are determined to take over the universe with their technology. Integral to the plot are Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela (Megan Fox), two high school students, who unknowingly hold the key to the Transformers elusive energy source. Its a fight to the finish of good versus evil, Autobot vs. Decepticon, man versus Machine, as our teams band together to defeat the Decepticons and save the Earth.

For me this movie was incredibly S L O W at about the 59 minute mark it picked up a bit as we started to meet the Transformers - to be honest though I did not watch to the end. Too slow, drawn out and a tad boring for my liking. Real Steel this is not.

Didn't really like this movie. Maybe I wasn't really in the mood to watch a movie? I switched off after about 20 minutes and started doing the housework. I saw bits an pieces of the movie here and there. Very heavy on the action (probably why I switched off). Very long movie.

I put this DVD on for the kids to watch while I got dinner ready, but within 10 minutes I was sitting down with them and watching the whole thing! I enjoyed this alot, and the kids did too. Great fun, amazing special effects.

This was a truly dismal effort.
Dislikable main characters, incomprehensible plot and action sequences that were so chaotic you really couldn't tell who the baddies and goodies were! It successfully eradicated whatever naive charm the original cartoon may have had, which was fairly limited to start with, and managed to be peurile, bombastic and tedious all at once. Bring back the decent corny block buster ala Independence Day that could be totally over the top but at least laugh at its own pretensions.

This film is not as good as it should be... The effects are fabulous but there are not always used effectively. The action doesn't really start until the very end of the film. The casting of the lead actor was inspired, he is brilliant - but some of the other performances are more robotic than the robots! It is quite good fun, especially for those of us who watched the cartoon as kids, but it's no masterpiece and you need to leave your logic circuit at the door to prevent you picking apart all the holes in the plot.

A real yawnfest - at least 40 minutes too long and too many subplots with some of the worst acting I've seen in a blockbuster movie in a long time. Very predictable, too. However, the special effects were fantastic (the giant scorpion critter in the desert was brilliant), but in the last fight scene I couldn't tell the difference between the bad and good robots, so it lost its impact. The autobots and deceptocons had no personality at all (unlike the TV show from my childhood) so I couldn't have cared less what happened to any of them. A real yawnfest. Keep your fastforward button ready.

After watching and speaking with other parents, we hired this for our 6 and 4 yr old boys who have always loved Transformers!
The "M" Rating is too harsh. The goodies beat the baddies, stuff blows up. There is no blood, guts or swearing(we heard one sh..)

Resisting the urge to be scathing in this review, so barely a three star film. The effects are good and the story carries the movie well, but it's just a little too cheesy. Not in a War of the Worlds corny ending kinda way (that really would warrant contempt) more a trying too hard to be good thing. Some of the humour releases that are typical fodder for action flicks miss the mark whilst others are laugh out loud stuff. Remember the toys, anyone wanting to fit in at my school had to have at least three Transformers, but never embraced the series, so with minimal authority I will call it a fair adaptation. The films Autobots seem as clean cut visually and morally from my recollection. Bring on a live action remake of Star Blazers.

Let's face it - This movie is never going to win any kind of award for the script or acting. The affects are worth watching, but the movie is full of obvious holes that can also be fun to watch (thats what we did when we got bored in between the cool cgi effects). Kids would love it - adults - maybe a little fun to watch for the effects, but a once only film. If you liked this you'd probably enjoy X-men and Batman films too I'd think.

The movie started well, but laboured the more you got into the movie. I fast forwarded through the last half hour. Got sick of it by the end. The script writing was poor. The boy who was the main actor, was pretty lame. The only saving grace was the digital effects with the transformers.

For those of you who grew up watching the cartoons it is a definate must see and as for those that are probably too young to remember the old cartoons it is still a definate as you really don't need any background to follow a movie about a bunch of huge talking robots that transform into cars, trucks radios etc. Highly recomended to all aged 1 to 100.
