Strong violence and coarse language

Director: Ben Affleck
Actors: Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Rebecca Hall, Chris Cooper, Pete Postlethwaite, Titus Welliver

There are over 300 bank robberies in Boston every year. And most of the professionals live in a one-square-mile neighbourhood called Charlestown. One of them is Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), but he is not cut from the same cloth as his fellow thieves. Unlike them, Doug had a chance at success, a chance to escape following in his father's criminal footsteps. Instead, he became the leader of a crew of ruthless bank robbers, who pride themselves on taking what they want and getting out clean. The only family Doug has are his partners in crime, especially Jem (Jeremy Renner), who, despite his dangerous, hair-trigger temper, is the closest thing Doug ever had to a brother. However, everything changed on the gang's last job when Jem briefly took a hostage: bank manager Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). When they discover she lives in Charlestown, Jem gets nervous and wants to check out what she might have seen. Knowing what Jem is capable of, Doug takes charge. He seeks out Claire, who has no idea that their encounter is not by chance or that this charming stranger is one of the men who terrorised her only days before.

Not the most thrilling suspenseful bank rob movie, but still good.

Great movie, one of the best I have gotten from Quickflix in a while. Really enjoyed the movie. Was a bit slow at times. But otherwise kept pace well. Definitely recommend the movie.

This is worth a watch Ben Affleck stars as Bank robber and develops something for the Bank Manager on one of his jobs while the FBI try & take him & his crew down. Also stars Blake Lively as his ex who is Leonardo Di Caprio's ex in real life.

The movie dragged on a bit. Some things just made little to no sense, and seemed to take place only to try to keep the on screen drama happening. Overall it was ok but not spectacular.

Didn't know what to expect but I enjoyed this movie. Action and angst. It was kind of along the same theme as 'The Departed'. Provided a lot of insight into just what it might be like growing up in a particular environment and wanting to 'get out'.

A really good drama - probably one of Ben Afleck's better recent performances!

Possibly I should have watched the "extended cut" instead of the "theatrical cut" but this Boston-based bank-robbing action flick seemed only solid with no frills. The script offers opportunities for richer characterization but Ben Affleck's acting isn't really up to the challenge (Rebecca Hall is better). OK, Jeremy Renner is scary and I "believed" him when on screen. But in the end this was all a bit too "by the numbers" for me (criminal wants to go straight yadda yadda).

This is a brilliant movie and had masterpiece potential (but fell short of the honour). Well written and fantastic directing, my one complaint was Ben Affleck in the lead - just wonders whether he should have cast little bro. Casey. Some of the lessor known ensemble cast of actors were great in their roles. It always had the feel that Ben Afflect was constantly over-thinking about his brilliance and self-driecting in his mind which was a bit of a spoiler. Ben Affleck = the Woody Allen of Boston town. Big bang ending was perhaps a little out of place.

I did not know what to expect from this movie only seeing one preview but I was very pleasantly surprised at the story line and ability to capture my attention. My wife who does not enjoy heist movies even enjoyed this one. It has a little bit of everything in it from action, romance, comedy, drama, and most importantly tragedy. They could have squeezed some sci-fi in there if they were really trying.

How does our surroundings and family shape us? Do people change and what is the appropriate punishment for past misdeeds? A thoughtful character piece wrapped in heist film with three expertly staged and exciting action sequences.

Great action movie, good plot, great look on Blue Ray, funny moments to break it up, won't disappoint if you are looking for something thats a bit of action, a bit of fun. Bit like a "Lethal Weapon" or "Die Hard" style
