Not really. Not as bad as some of the one star reviews, although the criticism is valid, but not as good as the 4 and 5 star reviews. Don't have high expectations, go along for the far fetched ride and just enjoy the location backdrop.

I wasn't sure about this one but I enjoyed it very much. I have never been a fan of Jolie but she was ok in this one but Johnny Depp played the part of the tourist to perfection. It was action packed but comic in places because of the wonderful acting of Depp, and it had a lovely little twisty surprise at the end. Altogether very good viewing

Yes yes yes! This is a great film! Action/ comedy/ romance - Goodness, it could fit every genre, but it does so with a James-Bond style smoothness. Gorgeous on-location filming, interesting storyline, wonderful acting, captivating on-screen presence/ interaction between Jolie and Depp. I was wrapped in this story from beginning to end.... The journey the story takes you on is unexpected, but very well done. Loved it! 4 stars!

terrible. depp looked overweight and drugged, while jolie acted like a thunderbird puppet, there are about 20 continuity mistakes and some lines were so forgettable I had to replay them straight after. these actors should both feel DEEP shame about collecting a pay check a wasting our time.

This movie was quite a surprise, although I admit I wasn't expecting too much. I thought it was great because it had a completely different metre to most modern movies. There were a few too many lingering camera moments on Angelina, but she does look fabulous - great costumes, make-up etc. Johnny looks suitably dishevelled and underplays his character. The scenery was spectacular. Story was reasonably good although a few cliches. But it had the best final line ...... you'll have to watch it to find out what it is.

Didnt quite deserve 5 stars but Im feeling generous, an enjoyable film and how nice to see an 'old school' film without gratuitous sex or violence. Yes Hollywood, it can be done! This film lacks that 'spark' that defines great films but spectacular cinematography, a good cast, decent plot and a couple of terrific scenes make this a very enjoyable film.

The European, old-world and old-school charm were the best thing about this film. It was watchable, yet predictable, and although the director tried to capture the 'who-is-it' movie from long ago, did not quite get there. Perhaps the editing was not up to snuff, or the chemistry between the actors...

Even for light entertainment it lacks for everything except locations. Predictable, and memorable only for it's forgetableness. Angelina Jolie doesn't even bother to do any acting. She does one pout throughout and not much else. Johnny Depp gets the chance to show how welll he has honed his british accent.

Embarrassingly awful - with Jolie as an extremely attractive wooden dolly.
Cobbled together by one or more ??? just out of film and video school.
I know says one let's take Joan Collin's accent for the approximately 400 elocutionised with pain words uttered during the whole film by Jolie.
Then add some visuals from some early Sophia Loren films especially all the iconic high boobs and lotsa wiggles.
We'll have a bunch of laughingly and totally stereotypical gangsters with dialogue to die for.
The whole film only has three actors anyone has ever heard of- all the rest must come cheap so we will spend a bit on some really great music that would have suited an epic movie (about the only thing worth mentioning)
What a good thing it was set in France and Venice - at least the scenery couldn't be messed up
Then add bits of memory from the 39 Steps, lots of dollops from all the James Bond films without any of the surprise or pizzaa (don't forget it even has Timothy Dalton in it.
And would you believe - guess what - at the end they take off in a boat - now I wonder which films THAT ending is from?
Poor Johnny Depp - having to be the unbelievable klutz who Miss Absolutely Gorgeous falls head over heels in love and all that as a result of a static coupla two/three word conversations and oh so many pointed pouts and sultry eyelash sweeping looks.
What's good abut this film - I didn't see at the movies - so I didn't waste my money.

This movie seems to have everything going for it - great actors, great locations, big budget. But the main character /relationship development is severely lacking and the plot is shallow. Angelina does ok in her usual role of "the mysterious spy-woman", but Johnny, who is an excellent actor, just has nothing to work with in the script and comes across as unexciting, awkward and boring. This might be the script writers intention but it makes for a bad movie. The ending is predictable because it is so cliche.

Comedy by the (French) police, add a litle bit of a boat chace as a thriller, and a dash of (comic) love story.... stereotyped by the back for bad and white for good....
Some parts were believalbe, most wasn't .
Still I wanted to see what happen next....
I am sure that Jodie and Depp could have done with a better script
In short it had all the hallmarks of a B-movie made in Europe (French perhaps? )

I got the feeling that it was badly directed, but maybe just too much footage simply ended up on the cutting room floor which can negate the best direction. This movie is a remake of the original title Anthony Zimmer. I have watched the original version a few years ago and I remember it to this day because it was excellent. Unfortunately this film has nothing to do with that. There is that one scene where deep is drunk and it was just Captain Jack Sparrow with on make up on

It was ok. It requires a great deal of suspension of disbelief to work, but the actors and cinematography are very easy on the eyes.

Not a fantastic action packed movie - a bit slow, but enjoyable. Good twist at the end, better than a 3 star not quite a 4, gave an extra star for what a great actor Jonny Depp is - worth a watch !!

This has to be the single most disappointing film I have ever seen. What were you thinking Johnny Depp? I didn't even watch it the whole way through, it was that uninspiring.

This is a film which relies almost entirely on the beauty of Jolie and the scenery. As a film it is an abysmal failure. Depp's talent is nowhere to be seen - his character is pathetic and poorly played. Jolie just prances around in vertiginous heels letting her unquestionable beauty do the talking rather than her questionable acting 'talent'. Paul Bettany as the English cop puts in an excellent performance and if it wasn't for the visual spectacle of the locations he would be the most memorable thing in the movie. The film, though supposed to be fast-paced, is a slow and gruelling experience and the 'big reveal' at the end is poorly executed and kind of expected. Utterly forgettable: the star is for Venice.

Ok well for me I like to look at Johnny Depp who seems to age well.
Good to see Angelina Jolie dolled up rather than her cool masculine roles.
Together I thought they were perfect both good actors not my favourites though. But the story not even they could save. I worked it out from the beginning and said yeah what else at the end. Worth watching still but you won't get excited over it.

For once in a movie i found, a little bit more action would have picked up the movie. Disipointed with ending as i found it way to predictable, but good landscape picked up the movie, just a bit of fun.

I tend to not enjoy movies that are tailored to the actors or when it relies on the star power too much. That seemed to be the case here as I would've given it a 2 star if Johnny Depp wasn't in it. It wasn't anything special but it had a decent twist to the ending which made up for some of the drag-ass plot. I gave it 3 stars because it was a beautiful landscape with some good humor every now and again.

I enoyed this but found it quite clumsy. It was more Pink Panther style than anything else. Don't expect anything too meaningful.
