Nothing on earth can rival the epic spectacle and grandeur of Titanic. Winner of eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture, this sweeping love story sailed into the hearts of moviegoers around the globe, ultimately emerging as the most popular motion picture of all time until finally being toppled by James Cameron's next film, Avatar, 12 years later. International superstar Leonardo DiCaprio and Oscar-nominee Kate Winslet light up the screen as Jack and Rose, the young lovers separated by social class yet destined to find each other on the maiden voyage of the 'unsinkable' R.M.S. Titanic. But when the doomed luxury liner collides with an iceberg in the frigid North Atlantic, their passionate love affair becomes a thrilling race for survival! From acclaimed filmmaker and multiple Oscar-winner James Cameron comes a tale of forbidden love and courage in the face of disaster that triumphs as a true cinematic masterpiece.

Titanic A very old woman called Rose DeWitt Bukater (Gloria Stuart) is on board the salvage ship Keldysh whose crew is in search of debris from the RMS Titanic which collided with an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April, 1912. She recalls that, as a 17 years old, young and beautiful (Kate Winslet), she departs on board the Titanic with her mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater (Frances Fisher) and her rich but brutal fianc?, Caledon Hockley (Billy Zane). A young drifter and talent artist, Jack Dawson (Leonardo di Caprio), also departs after winning a third-class ticket to the Titanic in a game. Jack meets Rose and both fall deeply in love. The film is in excellent colour, the music score is sung by a choir in the first part of the film, enfolding relentlessly into a riveting drama after the collision. Dramatic moments include the desperate “may day” appeal by the ship using the Morse code, the flares from the ship into the dark sky to attract attention, ocean waters gushing into the boiler room, ship cabins and huge, elegant first-class dining rooms, passengers jumping off the ship into the ocean, breaking of the Titanic into two whilst foundering and Jack’s death in the icy waters holding hand with Rose who survives. I like the final scene of the film which is extremely moving.

Well, this was four hours of my life I'll never get back. I really don't understand the hype that accompanied this movie, I found it incredibly tedious, and that iceberg couldn't loom into view soon enough for me. Having said that, I did stick it out to the end hoping it might improve but... Not a film I would recommend.

Talk about over rated! It really makes you question the value and significance of an Oscar.

All the people who died when the Titanic went down are fortunate; they will never have to see this movie!

Still a classic. Some of the dialogue is a little corny now, Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio overact sometimes but otherwise it's still a flawless epic. The secondary characters still hold up - Billy Zane as Cal is just brilliant, a perfect casting choice, Kathy Bates as Molly Brown is a treat and Victor Garber tugs at the heartstrings as the gentle, quiet yet powerful Mr Andrews.

Fantastic special effects in this love story / tragedy movie, more romance than what actually happened to the Titanic, worth a look once for the special effects.

This should have been two movies. One a soppy romance and one an awesome action flick. I spent the first part of the movie waiting for the iceberg. It is definitely too long. It looks impressive but it just doesn't do it for me.

This movie is pure genius! If you have not seen it do so now. Even people who don't like movies with too much romance like this one. Has a great cast, plot and lots of incredible insights into the time period. The clothing is extraordinary and sets amazing. With lots of historical facts about the actual Titanic woven into his fictional plot.
