The Three Musketeers (2011)

A bit of fun and a bit ho-hum. Count the corny lines and laugh along with the cast.

A bit of a fractured fairytale but a great movie none the less. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Light, entertaining and different enough to be worth watching if you've seen the original.

Without a doubt, the worst remake I have ever had the misfortune to (almost) sit through. Hopelessly miscast (even though it featured some really fine actors) and poorly acted, with excruciating dialogue and unsympathetic characters. I saw shades of Pirates and Sherlock and the whole thing was just over the top and ridiculous. They should pay people to watch this one. If I could give it a negative rating, I would! I bet none of the actors will be putting this on their resume.

A lot of fun! Basically followed the book except for the airships! Good action, great costumes and scenery. Our teenage daughter enjoyed it too.

Loved this movie. I am amazed that they can still keep making movies about the Three Muskateers and put a new spin on it. Super entertaining, watched it a few times and enjoyed it thoroughly each time. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a flick without a deep and entwined plot, but just good, enjoyable fun with some great special effects.

Action packed, opulent and well executed but no masterpiece.

Thoroughly enjoyable and for all age groups. It is along the lines of 'Pirates of the Carribean' - lots of not very serious views of history, with plenty of computer generated and assisted action scenes. Nothing like the original book which was a favourite when I was young. Full of movie stars and in fact, so many I can only remember a few: Orlando Bloom; Milla Jovovich (the 5th Element'); Matthew MacFadyn (one of the earlier TV series 'Spooks'); Mads Mikkelsen ('Casino Royale' and Danish TV series 'Unit One') are a few I do remember. I would recommend this for family viewing, if you liked 'Pirates of the Carribean'.

I like bad movies. This was beyond bad. I made it to the end by ignoring half the stuff that happened, only then was it watchable. The main character was not at all likeable and that added to the awfulness of the movie.

Okay movie would not rush out and buy it

BORING!!! Trying to take on a "cool" version of the Three Musketeers. It just didn't work, there was no plot, the dialogue was just silly, the story was lost

This was really poor. I only watched it because there was nothing else on tv to watch, otherwise I would have switched it off. It's really not worth renting.

I agree with Glen. This is one of the worst movies I've seen. The script was absolutely awful. I could tell they were trying to be quirky but it came off really badly. My husband walked out saying it was utterly ridiculous.

Iwatched this on a cold,wet and windy afternoon, and found it entertaining. Lots of poetic? license used in the script - all rather silly ,compared to the novel. Costumes, effects and swordfighting are great, but basically a no-brainer

Very silly script, doesn't even come close to the early black and white versions. What the hell were they thinking when they made this. Horrible on all aspects.

Isn't if interesting to see the variation in reviews for this movie. I find it a bit pointless trying to compare previous movies, they are each, in their own way, different, and isn't that why we watch them. I found this to be a very entertaining movie (in it's own right). I would certainly recommend it.

A hard movie to review because it is up against the many versions before it. It tries to go into more reality but looses the story a bit in doing it.

It makes no sense, no plot at all. The worst Musketeers movie ever.

Great film, funny, fast paced, and an all round enjoyable watch. Highly recommend it!

Terrific casting, apart from that annoying teenager.

Rubbish! I watched until I could bear it no longer and left the room. Hubby on the other hand watched it all the way through and then said "Rubbish"

Absolutely ridiculous.

This was fun and frivolous. I watched it three times and laughed each time. The best version yet, even if it was a little over the top... Recommend it highly if you like action comedy's like 'the Fifth Element'

This movie was truly terrible. Terrible acting, terrible script - I stopped watching before I ended it all.

Really not what I expected. But a bit of fun otherwise. Over the top heroes and villains. One for when you want to just watch something a bit fun and silly.

Good family fun... maybe a little too family, I enjoyed the movie but felt that it was missing just a little something I couldn't put my finger on. Definitely a bit of fun to sit back and relax with though.

Not a bad movie.It has something different like battleships in the sky.

enjoyed it had some funny moments not what I expected

It failed to live up to its potential. Only just got there for me as I have seen earlier versions. Had some good parts and some where a little annoying. Nearly switched it off.

Okay but they've taken way to many liberties with the original story. The actors playing the musketeers were good but everyone else was acting like they were in a West End pantomime. The Disney version with Chris O'Donell and Kiefer Sutherland is still fondly remembered.

Didn't do much for me. Lack of story and the casting and acting seemed a bit all over the place. Have seen and enjoyed much better versions than this one.

There truly nothing to this plot and even the excellent cast members could not inject this film with energy and interest.

Simple fun. Easy to watch.

Unfortunately this remake is a bit of a stretch to bear. Logan Lerman as the cocky D'Artagnan is a little bit too teen-friendly and lacks any real character development from beginning to end. The best things about this film is the costumes and sets and the intricately choreographed sword-fighting. The worst is the need for it to be in 3D (though watching this as a 2D dvd did spare me that pain) and the ridiculous air-ships that defy all physics and logic. Matthew MacFadyen is under-utilised as the grouchy Athos while Milla Jovivich as the double-agent Milday De Winter is over-utilised.

Terrible Hollywood remake. Only good thing about this movie were the special effects and costumes.

Completely silly movie but fun to watch.

I wanted more from this movie than what I got. Visually looks greats. Entertaining enough, but lacking in story and also character development, especially of the 3 musketeers. This attempts on humour didn't work that well either. Not sure if its better than the 2001 version, might just be, but it is no where near as good as the 1993 one or the 1973 one. If you're a fan of the book, then stick with them the 1973 or 1993 versions as this will most likely disappoint.

Gave it an extra star because the visuals/costuming/cinematography was amazing. Fun to see Orlando Bloom as a fop. The King & Queen were very cute, but it was a bit boring in the end. But not as boring as D'artagnon's girlfriend!

SNORE! what a dull and boring movie. Almost turned it off, but was waiting for it to 'get better' but it never did.

Pirates of the Carribean meet Alexandre Dumas. An "over the top" interpretation of a classic story. Notwithstanding, still fun and entertaining. However, I was a bit worried about the ending. Milady and Buckingham survive - will we see a sequel? I hope not!

It is OK as movies go.

Not too bad. An entertaining and (very) light swashbuckler that tries to cash in on the popular Pirates of the Carribbean formula. Mostly silly (check out the flying ships!) and it's true Dumas would be turning in his grave. If you're after something adventurous with a bit of hammy acting (check out the mustache-twirling turn from Orlando Bloom) you could go wrong. I just wished there had been more of the pretty awesome sword fighting featured in a couple of scenes.
