Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing. In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the shape-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates paranoia and begins picking off the team one by one.

An alien creature infiltrates a polar camp and creates paranoia. A scifi movie that improves on the 50’s original (which is overrated). The increased tension and fear is palpable. The special effects are first rate even after all this time.

Great movie with some rather bisarre twists. It would be great to see a sequel to find out what happens after the ending .....

I feel this is the greatest horror movie of all time. Many will think that is an overstatement but for me I feel that the combination of brilliant acting, amazing hand made aliens that are very believable and a magnificent story-line just left me feeling ecstatic about seeing such a brilliant film, and horrified to the point where I had nightmares. Well worth the watch! 10/10!

Classic sci-fi / horror. Outstanding visual effects for it's time, still holds up well to this day. Too bad modern horror movies aren't this suspenseful. If you're a fan of classic horror, you MUST see this flick.

Classic like Alien. The location is great, the cast mostly unknown to me (which is good) and the alien effects are awesome for the time.

Great Sci-Fi horror. Great special effects, great acting, awesome location and setting. Starts of a little slow to lull you into a sense of well being, then quickly asking you, who can you trust right through until the end. Inspired a great PC/Console game too.

Brilliant Sci-Fi / Horror. Very underated when released but now has become a cult classic, classic story of an Alien being found in the Antarctic and thawed out only to become a living nightmare for the people on the base. Kurt Russell is fantastic, eiree man against man in a who can be trusted movie. Just simply Brilliant.

This dark atmospheric horror tale is well woth a revisit. Sure it's gory but it has claustrophobic tension throughout and is horror-meister John Carpenter's best flick! Great extras on this DVD include enlightening commentary and a fascinating "Making Of" doco.
