Screen legend Randolph Scott stars in a classic Western blazing with explosive shootouts, brawls, and side-splitting humour. Following the Civil War, former rebel soldier Kirk Jordan (Scott) is fighting a new battle: to make a living in the hostile atmosphere that greets all ex-Confederates. But after he meets the beautiful, independent Ivy Preston (Joan Bennett), Kirk hits upon a bold plan. He'll lead her family's herd of 10,000 cattle to the just-completed railroad in Abilene, Texas. In hot pursuit is the evil administrator Middlebrack (Robert Barrat), who is determined to stop them at all costs. And Kirk must make a crucial decision: will he blaze a trail to bring his country back together, or will he join Ivy in her dangerous scheme to re-ignite the war between states?
