A very good movie and worthwhile just to see the excellent performances by Jack Nicholson, Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger.
This superb movie is so much more than its plot. It has lots of brilliant and unforgettable scenes written by a master director. It also frames a dozen or more of the most precious gems of movie dialogue ever. The final scene after the funeral is phenomenally brave. It chooses to show not the service or the speeches, but the 'empty' time when everyone sits around not knowing quite what to say or do with themselves, or each other. This movie will continue to stand the test of time. A classic masterpiece.
a beautiful and entertaining movie, showing how a mother and daughter relationship developes, and the strong bond is held between them, no matter what situation occures, both Shirley Mclain and Jack Nicholsen playing their parts brilliantly
Funny, moving early 80's film with some spot on performances from the cast. Well worth a look if you're in the mood for a solid piece of entertainment.
Well deserving of all its Academy Awards this is a marvellous movie which I never grow tired of watching. Jack Nicholson is outstanding, able to portray rough humour, great affection, loyalty and love. The other actors cannot be faulted either. They are all superb.
What a classic 3 hanky job- wonderful acting!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
The story is very engaging, everyday suburbia with its funny and sad sides.Starts as a comedy and ends up a tragedy.Still, I wore out the disk, watched 3 times.
