Incredible true story and fantastic acting.
Tremendous, remarkable, humbling and a true story...
This would have to be the best movie I’ve seen ever!
If you ever asked “Why am I different?” then this is the movie for you.
A person doesn’t have to be autistic (or even on the autism spectrum) to be affected by sensory issues. Although this movie covers the life of Temple Grandin and specifically her difficulties with being Autistic, it has something powerful for everyone.
Temple has a profound awareness and being a farmer myself I can really relate to everything she says about the treatment of animals. She says “We raise them for us, we owe them respect.” For a woman who didn’t speak until the age of four she has found her voice and BOY does she have a lot to say and it’s all worth hearing!
If you really want to learn something about people and animals, get this movie today!
What an amazing movie! What an amazing life! What an insight into autism and how clever people with autism are.
The animal husbandry ideas and how humane her way of thinking was is great.
Interesting (true) story. Great acting.
I wasn't aware of who the movie was about when I put it in my queue but from the opening scene I straight away recognised her. I saw a documentary on her some years back. This movie really put it to perspective what her struggles were. Not wanting to take anything away from here struggles, it seems to me also that things seemed to go right for her also along the way the old saying when one door closes, another one opens. I believe she was born ahead of her time.
Great movie - a breath of fresh air and really eye opening.
‘Temple Grandin’, technically, isn’t a remarkable film but what is remarkable is a story about a woman of exceptional courage. I had never heard of Temple Grandin until I watched the movie; I knew nothing of her work or her achievements. Temple Grandin fought prejudice; entrenched misogyny, ignorance and her own disability and yet achieved extraordinary results for science and animal husbandry. She now enjoys merited recognition in her own field of research but she is such an inspirational character that her story deserves wider circulation. I have seen Clare Danes in other roles but in this she excels. Her characterisation is astonishing and, apart from the story itself, is another reason to watch this film.
Inspiring! I read the reviews below and wondered if maybe I was meant to know who Temple Grandin is before I watched it. But this wasn't important at all, as it is simply a very well told story whether you know her or not. If anything it now makes me want to know more about who she is from watching it. I really enjoyed it.
Claire Danes was phenomenal! There wasn't a single thing about this movie that I didn't love. Whether you are interested in the story or not, which is wonderful, Claire's performance was amazing and should be seen. It's smart and humorous. I found myself fascinated by the mind of this character. I was really able to understand how she saw the world with her mildly autistic mind. It's amazing how she persisted in a man's world. I don't know the cattle industry, but I am familiar with the horse industry. I've seen cowboys treat women with disdain. To see Temple persevere despite these ignorant and arrogant men was very pleasing.
wonderful movie, loved it.
really enjoyed it, well written, great movie.
Loved it ... What a beautiful life!!! Huge insight into the world of Autism and what it is like to live with it .. Unfortunately only a glimpse but never the less brava for her allowing us to see inside that glimpse that is her life!!! Watched it twice and got more the second time!!
I really enjoyed this film. It was a real insight into the world of autism and also the world of Cattle. Temple is an amazing character so to are her Mum, Auntie and Teacher.
This is an informative, inspirational story that provides great insight into living with Autism. As an educator I was empowered with ideas and enthusiasm to better meet the needs of my students. I wanted to share this movie with everyone and found myself telling my colleagues about it. I want to watch it again for both inspiration and entertainment. A truly touching story!
This movie may not be for everyone but I loved it. I think it would help if you like cattle and or be interested in people overcoming a disability. A really inspiring story that I wasn't expecting to enjoy as much as I did. It was uplifting and I got so involved with her struggle.
truly a remarkable film. Played it twice with bequal enjoyment. If you are interested in autism and /or cattle then this is defiately for you, Acting of lead role amazing.
I was really looking forward to this movie purely to watch Clair Dane's acting, but I enjoyed it so much more. What remarkable women Temple and her mother are. Some of the story line could have been boring regarding the cattle and that but it became so interesting. Learnt some things I didn't know about cows lol. Not action, drama blah blah but a great story, well told with amazing acting. After you watch it google Temple and see how we'll Clair portrayed her.
What a fantastic life she must lead. A must watch.
An inspiring story with a great performance from Claire Danes. I couldn't stop googling about Temple Grandin after watching this movie - what an amazing woman!
What an amazing story of an autistic woman influencing so many people. Fantastic acting by Clair Danes.
The Temple Grandin journey is remarkably portrayed by Claire Danes.
A movie that beautifully demonstrates our differences aren't always impediments.
So good. What an amazing story and a stella performance from Clare Danes. Everyone should watch it.
Compelling dramatic reconstruction of an inspiring life, no time wasted. This film opens doors.
Claire Danes acting is impeccable. The script and story are beautiful and inspiring. A fantastic movie
One of the best movies I've ever seen. Terrific story, a great cast, beautifully filmed - a visual feast. Totally engrossing from start to finish. Danes' performance as Grandin is outstanding. A must see film.
This is a inspiring story. After viewing I went an purchased the DVD so I could watch agin. A never say die attitude and a supportive family will overcome all.
Great movie. Great characterisation. Very worthwhile themes.
Amazing story. Kept us spellbound. What a life!
Great story of family, perserverance and how the adversity of disability doesn't mean you won't change the world. Definitely worth taking a look at the extra bits too to see Dr Grandin herself.
Terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed this DVD
This is a great movie about a remarkable woman and her family. Love her thoughts on helping cattle and wish that her passion spread throughout the world!
Wonderful performance by Claire Danes as Temple. Thank you HBO for producing this very entertaining and instructive bio. film. Lovely performances too from Catherine O'Hara and Julia Ormond. Everyone should watch this and learn about the brilliantly autistic Temple Grandin.
To be brief, this is one terrific film, and Clare Danes for all the world is Autistic.
Excellent story, well acted, and no swearing or crudity.
This is a really good biopic of the amazing Autist and animal libertarian Temple Grandin who managed to transcend all the hysteria and misunderstanding around Autism and become a world famous academic and animal liberationist. Hers is a story of true courage, family love and struggle. Claire Danes is great in this, capturing some of Temple's eccentricity and the film is a different look at the Swinging Sixties in the USA and what "the other people" were doing with their lives. Thank you Temple for making the lives of beef cattle as humane as possible and for your great contribution to increasing understanding about Autism.
Great story of overcoming the challenges of autism back in the day, this awesome film hits very close to home. Claire Danes does a fantastic job of the lead role!
wow. definite must see for all. Great cast and an absolute gem of a movie.
What an incredible movie and story! Well worth watching! Fantastic Acting from Claire Danes. And we think we have problems in life - ours are nothing compared to those with a challenge. So what is our excuse for not using the incredible precious gifts and talents we have been given - none! And the very difficult role for Julia Ormond to play. Next time someone has a public outburst just look for they may be someone incredible gifted and have the ability to change the world.
So many reviews focus on the cattle but miss the person who changed their lives. How much she had to overcome. How many doors she had to "walk through". Next time we are faced with an "automatic door" - let's walk through it!
Great movie, just shows dont judge a book by its cover.
Absolutely LOVED this movie - and today they had a segment on TV about an UK Policeman who has been disallowed from immigrating to Australia because his step daughter has mild autism. I wanted to shout out - "watch this movie !!!" I think its a real eye opener for anybody - they are not simple - very clever & gifted people.
an absolutely fantastic movie, a must to see
Excellent movie. I've seen this and heard snippets of this remarkable woman. Claire Danes was incredibly empathic in her portrayal. If you watched the horrifying presentation on Four Courners of the sickening treatment of cattle we send off to Indonesia to be slaughtered in the most terrifying and shameful conditions, in Australian "designed" (designed for pain) equipment, you would have seen Temple Grandin commenting on the cruelty and shocking design. As she says often during the movie, "nature can be cruel but we don't have to be." Julia Ormond was exquisite as Temple Grandin's mother. A must see.
Excellent movie. Uplifting.
Very interesting and informative film. Do they use Temple's system in Australia I wonder? Poor cows.
