Actors: Leonor Watling, Javier Camara, Dario Grandinetti, Rosario Flores

Two men almost meet while watching a dance performance, but their lives are irrevocably entwined by fate. They meet later at a private clinic where Benigno is the caregiver for Alicia, a beautiful dance student who lies in a coma. Marco is there to visit his girlfriend Lydia, a famous matador also rendered motionless. As the men wage vigil over the women they love, the story unfolds in flashback and flashforward as the lives of the four are further entwined and their relationships move toward a surprising conclusion.

Margaret and David voted this as one of the best movies of the last 25 years and that is why I watched it. I wasn't disappointed. This is an excellent movie. Highly original, thought-provoking, but also touching on some taboo subjects. It is different, and certainly not action-packed, but it is a very rewarding movie, if you take the time to watch it.

Great very original movie. Worth watch just for the beautiful and moving voice in the concert scene. A pity it's unavailable now, it's not so old.

First of all, this is a Spanish movie, and like others Spanish Artists such as Juan Miro, Salvador Dali and Picasso) it has imagery peculiar to Spanish culture. But if your only interest is to watch a movie and you want something at a higher plane than Steven Seagal, I recommend this movie if only for it's interesting characters and subtle plot lines.

I loved this movie for its unusual story, its sensitive treatment, and the dreamlike atmosphere created by its soundtrack.

All Almodovar films have a complex and intelligent story. That's also the case with this film. It examines a man's excessive passion for a girl in a coma and raises a number of disturbing social issues.

Didn't enjoy this film, watched to the painfully slow end only to be disappointed.

Artistically unusual and took a while to get moving- but once it has you hooked, you have to keep watching. Bizarre scenes and at times very contemporary concepts. The relationships interspersed throughout the movie rather haunt you for a while. There is a particular noir, erotic scene that is wierd, very wierd.

I'm not a big fan of Almodovar and this film is simply another confirmation to that

another great quirky movie directed by Almodovar. You will either love this movie or see nothing in it.

In my opinion, Almodovar's best film to date. I was fascinated by the unusual situation, original characters, and excellent acting.

An unusual topic which had uneasy undertones, and some real oddities!

Almodovar at the top of his game. European style at its best. As for substance, it's there, too, though not quite as obvious. A quiet highlight is the scene with a heartbreaking rendition of the song "Cucurrucucú Paloma".
