Su-mi and Su-yeon have always been very close as sisters. Su-mi, being the elder of the two, is very protective over her young sister Su-yeon. Since the death of their mother, the stepmother has ruled the house with an iron fist. Su-mi has always managed to confront her stepmother, but Su-yeon, being a very calm and fragile girl, could not defend herself against the psychological and physical abuse of her evil stepmother. Su-mi has tried many times to explain the situation to her father, but his relationship with the stepmother and his disbelief has insured no result.
Su-mi and Su-yeon are now back from a mysterious absence and being back home doesn’t seem to please the two sisters very much. Having to live under the same roof as the stepmother is a nightmare for them. However, during the following days, strange incidents will occur. Another presence can be felt within the house. Is it the step mother trying to scare the girls, or a spirit trying to take revenge?

Please do us all a favor if you dont like movies with subtitles dont watch this film.
I really enjoyed this movie, it's a little confusing at the start but it all comes together nicely in the end. Spooky and Full of surprises, I loved it from start to finish, very entertaining, couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
and this movie DOES make sense! you just have to pay attention.

Couldn't make head nor tail of it and not worth trying to. My hand was on fast fwd all thru it waiting for something to happen.

An amazing psychological horror from South Korea that really delivers on all fronts. I don't want to spoil anything, so in avoiding plot details I'll just say that the cinematography and atmosphere in this creepy film are first-rate.
Interesting fact, it was remade for American audiences as Uninvited.

A confusing movie with no real plot which jumps from past to present and in and out of reality so fast it's difficult not to get lost. Don't waste your time with this one.

I'm not a big fan of subtitles and I thought reading them would make a horror movie hard to get into... but this movie was fantastic. It is the best horror I've seen in ages.

Takes twists and turns, but slowly unfold a tale that offers interesting insight into the the life a very emotionally distrested girl how how she come to be so distressed. Recommonded viewing.

Beautifully filmed, acted and overall stunning. It had everything a creepy thriller/horror should have! At the start you are confused, then your putting the pieces together only to realise your still way off at the end!! I would highly reccomend this to any genre lover, it's not your typical horror but is very intense and "real" as you get engrossed by the story...

A smart Horror movie from Korea. Certainly the scariest I've seen since THE RING. It's a beautifully shot and acted flick with a slow and suspenseful plot. Dark theme, frightening scenes, great twist AWESOME! Also don't miss out THE RED SHOES and THE HOST from Korea. The Tale of the 2 sisters is really a killer film and go further than most of the american scary movies you could have seen so far.

So good! Very well made. Direction and camera amazing. Reminded me of old school Hitchcock the way the suspense was created by exploiting the senses. The twist was an added bonus. Even better that it was a foreign culture.. this added to the mystery for me.

Was not made aware that it wasn't in English until watching the movie, would have been nice to know... Even with the subtitles it made NO SENSE!!! Maybe I'm missing something coming from another curtural background but it was quite boring, only watched til the end for hope that it may get better!

I liked it although very slow. Its got some good plot twists and is spooky.
