From the guy who brought you Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin comes Superbad. Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) want nothing more than to lose their virginity before they head off to college. To do that, though, they need to get liquor for the big party that night. With the help of their friend Fogell, a.k.a. McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), and his fake I.D. the three of them go on a hilarious chase for that elusive booze, dodging incompetent cops (Knocked Up's Seth Rogen and Saturday Night Live's Bill Hader), angry neighbors and jealous boyfriends.

The latest film to carry the mantle of the "teen sex romp" and they do a pretty good job of it. Jonah Hill is great and it's clear to see why he has made his way up in the movie world. Also cops Seth Rogan and Bill Hader are very entertaining and when it comes to the ladies Mc Lovin' is the man!!! Great soundtrack also...

My 16 year old daughter thought that this was a really terrible, boring movie. There's really nothing funny in it at all. The one star is for Emma Stone.

Not quite what I was expecting, but in a good way. It was silly, full of sex jokes and "teen stuff", but the dynamic between two of the characters, best friends leaving home for college and NOT going together was very interesting. Worth seeing just for the final scene and the exchange of glances on the escalator.

If you like this crowd and think Jonah Hill constantly swearing and saying tasteless things about women is funny, you'll enjoy this. I largely didn't...however gave it one star for Michael Cera's character and the cops.

Typical teenage fare, however under the crass humour lies a story with a good heart.

Funnier than I expected. Michael Cera is good as usual. Pretty well written. The cops are the show stealers.

This was Gorgeous! Obviously it came from teenage minds...but there is heart to it, loyalty, friendship and great humour in parts. McLovin is a legend! And the two leads have a great bond with their friendship which has obviously been lifelong. Crass? Yes! But look a bit deeper...quite cute.

Pretty funny, not hilarious though. Worth a watch if you want to sit though seeing a bunch of school kids who can drive trying to buy alcohol. Still can't believe that you must be 21 in the US to buy a beer but you can drive to school. Bet you can buy a gun though....

Pretty average geek college boy movie, with a couple of funny but crase moments. Not a chick flick, but has a good underlying message about teenagers being respectful to each other, and not falling for peer group pressures. Got a bit too stupid in parts... 2.5 stars for a laugh with the boys.

The worst movie ever made .mclovin as a character was not funny , the 2 cops stupid, the main characters have never made another movie and you can tell why . this movie got an 87% fail rating in rotten tomatoes web site , watch it and you will see why.

The name says it all. It is down there with the worst of the teen flix. If you are over 18 dont waste your time as it is aimed directly at the 16 and under market (which is ironic because it has an MA 15 rating). Built around the age old american teenagers cliched obsessions with getting shitfaced drunk, getting laid and shooting guns, there is not an original idea or line in the entire movie. Which I guess is an achievement of sorts. Its bound to be popular.

Great funny movie, but shitty ending. I wanted to know more about the characters but it just ended abruptly, what happened to Fogell aka McLovin? What happened to the stupid cops? Disappointing at the end

i think the reason for the mixed reviews is an age thing, anyone in their teens would find this funny, anyone with taste would not, sp perhaps it's the movie reviewing the viewer ?, ok it's crap don't waste the postage, if it's your cup of tea, make me one too i'll be watching something else in the bedroom

You pretty much know what you're in for when you watch any of the movies written by these guys and Superbad delivers as expected. Yeah, it's a crude premise but so much more funny and clever than other films in its genre, like your American Pies and so forth. There were laugh out loud moments and definately some cringe moments, but overall a lot of fun. I'd say, not as good as Knocked Up but better than 40 Year Old Virgin.

Without even looking, it will be a safe bet to assume there are a bunch of self righteous reviewers here panning the movie and simultaneously declaring they turned it off. That's fine they can go back to watching the delightful Jerry Lewis do his typewriter sketch on youtube, they're not these guys audience. If you have ever had true friends you can talk openly with, or had a night out that went wrong then you'll relate to the heart of this film.

I'm sorry to the other reviewers but god lighten up a little! This is one of the funniest movies ever made, I'm still laughing after seeing it at least 20 times and Mclovin' will go down as one of the best characters ever! It's a good piece of escapism and well worth getting.

I can see how it can appeal to the younger audience and how it can be very rudely funny - however I would be horrified if I found out my kids watched it and enjoyed it and then only displayed the bad behaviour that this movie depicts. It does have a point to it, with the 'happy' and almost 'moral' ending to it but I am not convinced that this will actually come across to the target audience. Maybe I am just becoming too much of an old fart...!
