The train crash scene is awesome with great visuals and gutsy Dolby sound, found myself almost reaching to turn it down - but then decided to leave it as-is since in real life the volume levels skyrocket as indeed it had! You realise that there was "some-thing" on the train when you see the carriage door flung off as if it were nothing. However after that you barely see the creature, which is a bit disappointing really in these days of TGI; I would have preferred to see more creature and less things flying through the air? Anyway - at the end you do get to see a reasonable bit of its face - and then........ Won't spoil it for you! Steve

‘Super 8’, even though not directed by Steven Spielberg, it has many of his hallmarks, especially his films with children. There is an unmistaken echo of ET about Super 8 but nothing of its charm. It’s an enjoyable film with plenty of special effects but the plot is thin with the protagonist’s being a group of delightful kids against the big bad military of the USA.

I think this might have been what JJ was trying to do with Cloverfield - as Cloverfield was terrible He has done SO much better with this movie. I think anyone would be able to enjoy this - young or old.

The Blu-Ray transfer was crisp and the Dolby TruHD was breath taking though! Not a fantastic movie, a little too far fetched for my liking and I am a sci-fi fan. Take a sprig of 'The Goonies', stir in a dash of 'Stand By Me', add a dribble of 'ET' and pinch of 'Predator' and there you have it, Super 8!

This is a must see movie. It is an excellent story, not unlike ET. This action filled movie will keep you entertained for the entire length of the Movie. AA Abrahams has written and directed another hit.

This is a JJ Abrams movie. 'Nuff said? It's all very intriguing to begin with, but don't expect the plot to remain coherent once the explosions begin. Still, on the plus side, the aforementioned explosions really are very good. I mean it's probably worth queuing up this movie just for the train crash that triggers the storyline. It's so completely over the top I actually found myself cheering as the subwoofer settled back onto the floorboards. Great cast too -- especially the kids, who can really act. But unfortunately by the 90-minute mark the plot turns into Swiss cheese, and the climax is an almost literal deus ex machina which is clumsily introduced and played straight without any hint of irony or wit. See Toy Story 3 to find out how it *should* be done.

Cleverly done and appealing to all ages. I really enjoyed all the 80s references and the stirrings of teen romance brought a level of cutesie to it that I can certainly remember living through! Don't think too hard about the possible repercussions of the escape considering the government's actions or you'll spoil the good feeling at the end. Sound special effects and an exciting storyline makes this an enjoyable watch.

Great movie - a coming of age story set to the backdrop of a small country town, separated families and an alien. It is obvious to see that the producers gave a bit of themselves in the making of this film. Great to see a film made with feeling rather than paint by numbers. Must see.

This movie reminded me of Goonies. I didn't think I'll like it but I did. I love that no main characters were killed off. I really enjoyed this movie, it's funny and uplifting, like after watching it, I felt like fighting a war!

Best Movie I have seen for years, really polished , a fast paced story line with great acting . Reminds of those really great movies like ET & CLose encounters.

Wow! I LOVED this movie. It's a great story, great CGI effects, a few spooky bits and some child actors that are really impressive (a few had never acted before).. Elle Fanning is amazing (Sister to Dakota) and a seasoned professional at only 12 or 13. Awesome stuff, kids!

Not a bad movie, good effects and acting, but not much actually happens in the way of storyline. Certainly an easy watch, and probably teenagers would find this more entertaining than adults.

Fantastic movie. Very good acting by the children and had an ET feel about it. Not your average popcorn blockbuster sci-fi.
