Friday night... too tired, Saturday night... too drunk, Sunday too far away...

Jack Thompson is Foley, the best shearer on every station for miles around. 'Sunday Too Far Away' is Foley's story of sweat-soaked days and rum-soaked nights, of bloody two-fisted punch ups... of scan labour brought in during the shearers strike of '56, and of the poor bastard who runs the place!

Classic Australian film produced in 1974, Depicts rural Australia from circa 1956. A real window into not only the male-dominated shearing business but also many historical aspects. Can you imagine today government sponsoring film on a topic of union movement/ successful strike? It shows how much modern Australia has shifted towards the right wing, both major parties have shifted right over the last 30 years or so. Australia was different when this movie was created. Worth a look because of its great historical value.

Classic Australian movie with great acting. The plot is interesting and a real window into shearing in the Aussie bush. Must watch for lovers of Australian films.

A very good film. I could have done without the view of Jack Thompson's jiggling buttocks though. One for the ladies?
