Medium level violence

Director: Stephen King
Actor: Harry Anderson

IT can be anything. A fanged monster that won?t stay on the movie screen. Something ominous lurking in the basement. No matter what your biggest fear is, no one knows IT better than Stephen King. Based on King?s 1986 bestseller, IT is a jittery, jolting excursion into personal fear starring Harry Anderson, Annette O?Toole, John Ritter and Richard Thomas. A malevolent force in a small New England town takes the shape of a clown (Tim Curry), but he?s not clowning around. Instead, he terrifies youngsters and brings some to their untimely doom ? until some wily kids fight back. The evil resurfaces 30 years later: meaner, angrier, deadlier. And friends who vividly remember youthful terrors reunite to battle IT.

It has major problems such as issues with character development and a lack of explanation in many scenes, but the childhood scenes are very entertaining and the movie thankfully doesn't feel overlong to me. It's a good movie, but could have been much better.

Well what can one say, we were sitting quietly watching the film and half way in it just stopped, no more. After double checking that's all on the DVD, apparently when the DVD was cut it stuffed up along the way. But what we did see was really good, had seen it a long time ago and it was a beut film. If the last half is as good again then if you have not seen it then do not missit.

3 hour was far too long for this adaption of the Stephen King novel. I enjoyed the storyline though and the shifts between the younger kids and the grown up adults battling the same evil force from childhood. It's such a shame that the clown Pennywise played by Tim Curry was laughable for all the wrong reasons. I highly doubt that King wanted this clown character to be perceived as a laughing stock but that's the way the film portrays it as. The moments of horror were amateur at best and it did feel like a hallmark movie at times, cheaply done but still enjoyable for the most part.

be awhere that you have to turn the disc over to watch the next boring part of the film. The clown isnt scary enough needs a more scary face. the only good actors are suprisingly the kids and seth green who is very young in this. Hsa potential but i never liked the book anyway. The best Film/Book he did was the shawshank redemption its the best movie of all time dont dis it. acting is terrible by actors needs to be about only 90mins long as you feel very sleepy in the fecond half the best part is the last few mins of the first side (stephen always has a good ending). Dont watch this i havnt met anyone who has liked this 0. 5 stars

Though lacking the tremendous scope of the novel it's hard to fault much of this. The casting is excellent, particularly that of the children. All perform admirably with a real warmth between them which is essential to this work. Tim Curry is effectively scary as Pennywise and it's because of him that this still chills. Outside of the hokey ending with the pretty crappy looking spider I was pleased that it held up so well.

This movie is so overrated it astounds me. It's just a lame, boring made for TV movie. Although considered a Horror icon, this movie is not scary at all, although I admit Pennywise is somewhat creepy. Just remember it's a double sided DVD, so when you get through the painfully boring first hour and a half, be sure to turn it over to endure yet another 90 minutes of pure crap.

An absolute classic. Tim Curry is amazing in this original horror . I am a HUGE S.K. fan and this is well worth watching. "It".... What is "It"? That clown was pretty scary, especially when it came up through the plug hole.....

Absolutely horrible. Took all the lovely stuff out of the book and only used the horror that doesn’t work unless you feel for the characters. Tim Curry over acted appallingly. The ending was changed dramatically so that it didn’t make the same sense as the book. The actors are nothing like they are described in the book. They even changed the years the story was set in. Just wrong from start to finish. Anyone who is a fan of the beautiful book will be bitterly disappointed as I was. An awful and a sad waste of such wonderful material.

If you read the Stephen King book you will like this movie, I thought it was great, story about kids who face an evil and then twenty years later have to come back and face it again once and for all. Beep Beep Ritchie...... Great.

Very scary in some parts, I congratulate the person who hired Tim Curry to play the clown. He is the best actor in it and is responsible for all the frights. I long movie and there's lots of character development. Not my all time Fave King adaption but still well worth watching.

Fairly average, almost b-grade horror. Slighty long winded, and bears some resemblence to the book of the same name, the book is typically far superior. DVD is double sided with no indication which is side 1 and which is side 2.
