Best described as a black comedy about mobsters, I really enjoyed this movie.
Three apparently unrelated stories come together towards the end of this movie.
It has a kind of 'Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels / Snatch' quality about it and if you liked either of those movies, you will probably enjoy this. Not for everyone but if you have a weird sense of humour, worth watching.

In Staten Island The Mob is alive and well, although it's members have higher ambitions as they continue to live in the shadow of Manhattan. Vincent Donofrio is Parmie Tarzo - the quietly terrifying and simultaneously pathetic Mummy's boy on a mission to take over as the Island's 'Godfather'. The victims of his blind ambition and narcissism include his own hapless mother who is shot by (Parmie presumes) one of his rivals. She survives, but Parmie is hellbent on vengeance.
Vascillating between black comedy, thriller and cautionary tale, this cleverly woven story unfolds to reveal the bizarre connections between the characters and the irony of how the Mob Mom came to be shot in the first place. Ethan Hawke and Seymour Cassel are brilliant in their respective roles, as are Parmie's fellow mobsters. Unexpectedly entertaining.

Staten Island is basically 3 stories that all tie in with each other, both during and at the end of the movie. I quite enjoyed it as it is a little bit off-beat , is set in an unusual New York location, and has an interesting storyline.
