My son loves this movie. I don't. The problem with this movie (i haven't read the book so i don't know if its the same, but if it is, i would dislike the book as well) is the boy. Boy finds key that opens a locked chest which has a book wrapped up with a note warning not to read the book. Boy reads book. Boy is warned not to take book outside circle. Boy takes book outside circle. Boy is told again not to take book outside circle. Boy takes book outside circle again. (it happens a third time.) If the boy listened to everyone around him....there would be no story....but it is a kids book/movie.
Great kids creepy movie, good story, special effects etc. The only weakness was the Great Uncle was just a bit not quite in focus.
The three Grace children, having been unwillingly moved to the Spiderwick Mansion, their deceased great Uncle Arthurs' home soon find themselves contending with many magical creatures, good and bad over an ancient book named for the movies' title. I love family movies and this one did not disappoint. Definitely a childrens' fantasy.
excellent condition of the dvd.s all seen so far also in good condition
all 5 stars
suited to miley cyrus fans, hysteric little brats thinking the whole world revolves around them. good graphics, but messy colors and script. worth to waste some time with.
Not bad for a kiddies movies.
A good family movie .Recommended.
Really wonderful movie. Enjoyed every minute of it. It was a big surprise to see Mary in this movie, big fan of weeds. No way you could predict what would happen next, left you guessing. The creatures were absolutely wonderful, great animations. Not being able to see the monsters then suddenly they appear! full of imagination and all round family fun
Much better than I had anticipated. I'm the "children's fantasy" movie buff in the house, but my husband liked it as well. This is the first time I really did not like Freddie Highmore all that much, and it was difficult watching Mary Louise Parker in that role after seeing her in "Weeds", but it was a fun movie and I recommend it. The characters were imaginative and not too "out there", and the entire story kept moving. The ending was especially clever, and I'm still replaying it in my head 2 days later. The Jim Henson creatures were great as usual.
Terrific Movie still feel too scary for young children though
Haven't read the books so it was all new to me. It did seem a short storyline but the special effects were excellent. Great photography of Freddie as both twins didn't know this until the credits rolled through.
An entertaining film for our family movie night. My children enjoyed it, and watched it multiple times over the weekend. The quality of the movie, the acting, and storyline were good.
Entertaining, story wasn't as true to the books as I would have liked. But as a fantasy movie it was still enjoyable and was true to it's genre.
Fun, imaginative stuff. Gorgeous kids and fairy creatures; we like fantasy, so this was some nice escapism.
I enjoyed this movie - quite entertaining.
The world of sprites, goblins, elves and all the other magical folk takes you back to your childhood books.
Agree with the 3 -4 star rating. And yes, some of it might frighten very young children.
great family movie for young and old thoroughly enjoyed by this household of adults
Wonderfully entertaining movie for the young
This was a great movie with some pretty good effects used.
The story line was really good and did manage to keep you interested.
Very enjoyable movie, though at times I wondered
whether PG was a suitable rating.
We all enjoyed this movie. Well worth watching
Loved it. The kids didnt move the whole movie we even watched it twice. Really good movie
Not as fantasy filled as I'd hoped, could have done with more weird and wonderful creatures. A good one for the kids.
very strong cast, make up your'e mind
My wife loved it. I thought it was O.K.
This is one movie I am happy to write a review about. Even though it is aimed at children/teens as an adult I found it great. Full of action and amazing creatures. One of the best older children's movies I have seen.
I did like this movie, but it had a bit of a weird story line and it didn't go long enough I didn't think. I'm sure alot will really like it though.
We really enjoyed this one. Would not recommend for children under 7 years.
Maybe a touch scarier than Narnia and the like for kids, but not a bad film for this type. Pretty good CGI and interesting characters make it watchable.
Adults and kids both liked but it was too scary for a 5yr old.
this was not bad to watch, but it does have some scary sceens!
A really entertaining movie for older kids and adults. Good special effects and it moved along at a good pace.
It does not get anymore exciting than this, for a 7 and 8 year old. Visually beautiful, great acting and a fabulous story, that the whole family enjoyed. Loved the goblins and fairies !!! Will watch again.
Good, entertaining movie, funny moments, quality special effects, solid performances by all, particularly Highmore who plays the twin brothers Simon and Jarrod.
From time to time this film dips its toes into Yankee schmaltz but not enough to make it annoying and cloying. In other words it holds it story up well - chest out, stomach in. The SFX are very well done and the development of the various characters are a joy to behold - not all sweetness and light - just as it should be!
Well worth watching Great for the kids at heart
Brilliant movie, a good film for the family, but could be a bit tense for the very young.
In the vein of Dark Crystal, Harry Potter, and similar fantasy types.
Has some funny moments too to lighten it a little.
Well worth the hire.
Great Family movie, kids loved it and great for watching more than once...
Worth Watching - Good story.
My 2 sons absolutely loved this movie. Well worth watching more than once.
A Great Film for the young and young at heart! All the emotions will be out for this one!
