It's been two years since the mild-mannered Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) first began struggling with "the gift and the curse," and in Spider-Man 2, he's still coming to terms with his dual identity as the web-slinging crime superhero Spider-Man. Now Peter's in college, and his relationships with the people he cares most about are crumbling. He wants to reveal his secret identity to Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), his friendship with Harry Osborn is stressed by Harry's growing hatred of Spider-Man, and Peter's Aunt May has fallen on hard times. When a new foe, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), appears, Peter and Spidey face a new challenge..

We really enjoyed all three Spiderman movies. This one is as good as the other 2. Yes you have to suspend your disbelief but isn't that what you watch these movies for.

If you can get passed having to willingly (and often) suspend your disbelief with regards to the lack of consequentiality (like how Peter and every bad guy take horrible beatings yet never seems to get hurt...), the movie is great. I didn't expect to enjoy spiderman, but i'm glad I finally saw all three. Now I understand what the fuss was about: What on earth possessed them to reboot the franchise? Shame!

I enjoyed this movie more than the first one-- both movies are filled with sadness- but this one contains much more humour which helps keeps the balance. Think all the actors are fantastic-- my favourite would be j.k. simmons as the head of the newspaper-- hilarious!!

This is a highly entertaining movie. I was not once bored - and that's a big praise from me. It has the perfect mixture of love story, action and crime and having not seen the first Spiderman yet, it's still easy to follow - loved it.

Spider Man 2 was as entertaining as the original. There was plenty of action and even more screaming than the first. The kids loved it although, some parental guidence is recommended for the little ones. A good watch!

I was a bit disappointed with this. There were too many repetitive themes carried over from the 1st movie and not enough character growth. No where near enough 'action' for a superhero movie!

Spider man, spider man, does whatever a spider can.. well ok,not quite, do you see him being eaten by his mate? NO! Anyway, good flick, hubby enjoyed it more than me, but then I guess it's a "blokes" movie isn't it?

Must admit I'm more into indi/arthouse movies, but for a 'Hollywood Blockbuster' is this wasn't too bad. Predictable plot of by-the-numbers special effects, but enjoyable nonetheless.

On a par with the original. The special effects are still good and the characters have developed quite a bit from the first movie. Overall a good follow up from the first with a much darker storyline.

Far better than SP1. A more complete film and better story. The characters are really developed. The personal life and dramas of a superhero are explored. The frailty of Peter Parker who doesn't really know if he wants to give up everything to be a superhero. A unique and reverse love story between childhood sweethearts, where the girl chases the guy. Great action, particularly the train fight scene. Some genuinely touching moments, like when Aunt May gives some advice to Peter Parker; when the kids in the train return Spiderman's mask and promise not to tell anyone about his identity; when the people in that train stand up for Spiderman against Octo; and when MJ declares her love for Peter. Truly a remarkable film.

Worth watching if you've seen the first film although I don't think it's as good.Message to Hollywood though - please stick to the mind numbing action formula rather than try and give Spiderman a conscience or turn him into some hopeless romantic.

Superb sequel, possibly even better than the first in the series. Much of the film is concentrated on the character developments and the internal conflicts being faced by the lead character, which is neatly complemented by quality action sequences. In typical Hollywood style, there will almost certainly be a third movie considering the open ending.
