Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) is a perennial playboy with a libido much younger than his years. During what was to have been a romantic weekend with his latest infatuation, Marin (Amanda Peet), at her mother's Hamptons beach house, Harry develops chest pains. He winds up being nursed by Marin's reluctant mother Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), a successful, divorced New York playwright. In the process, Harry develops more heart pangs - the romantic kind - for Erica, an age-appropriate woman whom he finds beguiling. However, some habits die hard. When Harry hesitates, his charming thirtysomething doctor (Keanu Reeves) steps in and starts to pursue Erica. And Harry, who has always had the world on a string, finds his life unraveling.

A girly flick which didn't appeal to me. I thought that as it had 2 mature actors it would be more meaningful.

Jack Nicholson is an unlikely lover but, suprising himself, falls in love with the mother of her daughter. Both Jack and mother are so surprised at this unpredicted event that they marry and enjoy the happy family life of mothers daughter who brought them together.

A warm and beautiful love story for the older generation. There is hope for us yet! Yes, I have fallen in love with Di Keaton as a result of this movie. And Jack is Jack! As laconic as ever but very credible. Grab it if you are over 50!

I liked this movie although I found the idea of a mother falling in love with her daughters love interest a bit weird. However it was a good flick.

Light and enjoyable romance, for once showing romance between older people. Diane Keaton, as usual, played her character with too much noise and too little depth, but Jack Nicholson was, of course, wonderful and pulled the film out of mediocrity. Good to see the ever-gorgeous Keanu Reeves playing an older, more settled character. I think I would?ve stuck with him!

I laughed quite a bit in this film but I really wish someone would get Keanu Reeves out of anything that doesn't involve implied drug use or slow motion bullets. I laughed quite a bit in the first half of the film and felt the second half got lost a little in trying to get somewhat existential in the end.

Much ado about nothing. Highly implausible story line. Tired of Jack Nicholson and "Annie Halls" mannerisms after seeing them in countless other movies with the same expressions. The film is also too long. The plot is not strong enough to sustain its length. Jack Nicholson as the owner of a Hip-Hop record label? I don't think so!

A good movie in that the main characters are very real (as in not plastic surgeried to look like androids) and portray realistic issues and problems. Diane Keaton is perfect as the emotionally fragile Erica, with Jack Nicholson being his usual (bordering on psychotic) self. Heart warming support actors make this a very enjoyable movie.

Jack Nicholson seems able to pull 100 faces to convey 100 different messages. He bettered the performance of Diane Keaton whose arms were continually in the air, however, Keaton's wardrobe of subtle colours set against the Hamptons house also with a wonderful subtle pallette was gorgeous. A lovely warm and fuzzy ending.

This is a movie unashamedly aimed at the over 50's woman which I am. We are supposed to identify with Diane Keaton. While I can not deny the obvious charm of Jack Nicholson, a relationship with a 36 year old doctor would be more useful at our stage of life. The early part of the movie had hilarious moments and it was all in all most enjoyable to watch. Very clever, if predictable, script.
